This is one of her best vocal performances on record, and was most likely finished on the first or second take (she never did more than 2 takes). No overdubbing either, she would just sing them straight through while accompanying herself on piano. That's why she was the Queen. I can only laugh when people compare other female singers to her.
@@Sttephy30 This is true that she was a perfectionist but Aretha would work out her part, background parts and the piano part before she even arrived at the studio. She really should have been credited as producer for the majority of her work.
Prime Aretha was something else from these other girls back in the day. The master at work showcasing a thrilling combination of support, power, clarity, agility and intonation near the heights of her upper register. Nobody did it like Ree.
oh I never forget the first time I heard this one. I got stuck on it for weeks. the whole ‘lady soul’ is an absolutely untouchable masterpiece but ‘good to me..’ is I don’t know.. a vocal mount everest or something. the unbelievable power her voice radiates, the way she controls that power, the clarity of her tone, the pitch perfection, her artistry simply blow my mind. she also totally owns the harmony and knows how and where to go to make it at some point ecstatic which is a gospel way to sing. at some point you want her to go higher but you don’t believe that’s possible. but she goes there and then even higher soaring among stars unreachable and majestic. I have never heard anybody sang like this. also, the eric clapton’s guitar solo matches her vocals perfectly like a good diamond setting. thanks for the vid man. love your reactions. 👏🏼
Who ever requested this is amazing. This whole album is phenomenal 💯🙌🏾🔥That is Eric Clapton playing the guitar btw!!! Aretha wrote this song and played piano on it. A true GENIUS and artist!!! The GOAT 🐐! And the band your talking about is a famous and legendary one called the muscle shoals band from Alabama, they played on a lot of hits and have a rich history!
When people try to say this singer and that singer can match her, no one can, and those are white kats in the band, all-white dudes from Muscle Shoals Alabama, boys had soul out the ying yang. she is on piano on this track, the G.O.A.T and ain't no one close. she was killing them at 25 up to when she was in her 70's
Thanks for doing my request! This is one of the first vocals that knocked me out as a kid, after I heard one of her hits on the radio and decided I needed to hear that album my father had lying around. She's peaking on A5's here, but they don't sound unpleasant, they sound FIERCE and TRUE. On guitar is Eric Clapton, who was in the studio doing his own thing when she was doing the vocals. The producer suggested he jump in and play, but Aretha's singing scared him (it's all well documented) so he decided to come back when she wasn't there. The power this woman held! The other VOCAL highlights of this album I would say are People Get Ready, Come Back Baby and (of course) Ain't No Way, but during her Atlantic years she ate everyone up with almost every song on every album. Sit Down & Cry from the album 'This Girl's In Love' has some really rare, dangerous high belting. The Queen of Soul, the greatest Blues Singer of all time and the Vocal Blueprint.
You can hear the influence that Aretha had on singers like Lashun Pace, Jennifer Hudson, and even The Clark Sisters. That bright belts and smooth grit. You should react to Aretha version of If I Ever Leave You. Man that would knock you out. ❤👏🏾
THE Queen! Mahalia's, Clara's, Ray, Sam's influences are clearly on display here. However Aretha added HER self into that mix. That is why she is an original! Great review! Aretha is the blueprint indeed!
I know you love Whitney and so do I but Aretha in her hay day was killer. Wish you would do some more of her like ain't no way, baby baby baby, just gems. I love your reactions.
You should check out her sister Erma! She had a set of pipes on her too!!! I love Erma's rendition of "Light my fire" and the original of "Piece of my heart" which unfortunately got overshadowed by Janice Joplin's cover. You can definitely hear the family resemblance between Aretha & Erma!
Eric Clapton is playing guitar on this track. This to me is the best blues singing recorded EVER. anyone asks why is Aretha the Queen, have them listen to this.
I suggested this on another one of your posts. I see you’ve already listened. She slays this song. She was going through some things at this time. I tell you her voice was phenomenal in the 60s
You mentioned Whitney at the end. Her mum sang backing vocals for Aretha. That's where the influence came there. That is Cissy Houston doing the long notes on background vocals on Ain't No Way.
and we’ll let ‘em give whoever they want the title of “vocal bible”, but we know better 😉. Actually the so called title holder has named our ReRe as one of her influences so I guess it’s all good👌🏾
When I saw him laughing in the beginning, I was like "just you wait"
Yes, yes! The greatest blues climax in history and my favorite vocal climax PERIOD
@@NIPPYxMIMI I agree the first time I listened to this song I was scalped bald . The vocals are golden .
He wasn’t ready, lol

Aretha was a perfectionist, she would do more than 2 takes some times. But she'd nail it majority of the time in 1 take.
@@Sttephy30 yes on rare occasion she did more than 2 takes. I think she did a few takes for Ain't No Way.
@@Sttephy30 This is true that she was a perfectionist but Aretha would work out her part, background parts and the piano part before she even arrived at the studio. She really should have been credited as producer for the majority of her work.

Yes. NOBODY compares.
By faaaaaar the greatest
Aretha was absolutely untouchable back then.
This is a blues aria...she is supernatural
Omg! She sang the skin off this song!!!!
She’s the Queen for a reason ☺️

Absolutely! And her soulful, bluesy, piano-playing is RIGHT ON TIME WITH THE GUITAR!!!
Aretha has a very rare voice type. She is a Falcon soprano. She also has the agility of a coloratura. She just got it all lol
I totally agree. She could anything she wanted to with those vocal cords
Exactly!

Aretha done snatch-ed my hairline with this🤯🤯
She truly is the Queen of Soul
She tore this song up! ❤❤❤❤
Ommggggggg Aretha killed it yooo!!!! This is my first time hearing this song.

AND she's the favorite vocalist of the two people in my username yes.
Still can’t believe she’s gone

I’ve never heard that song before! Aretha!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Aretha was the GREATEST!
Sho' 'nuff!
IS* she will forever be THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME.
The Queen Supreme!
I listen to this almost everyday when I'm doing house work....I know my neighbors talk about me say....."Here's the concert for today ".
THE Queen! Mahalia's, Clara's, Ray, Sam's influences are clearly on display here. However Aretha added HER self into that mix. That is why she is an original! Great review! Aretha is the blueprint indeed!
This my most favorite song of hers...
🤩🥰🤍✨✨✨
Oh and Aretha wrote this song too!!
This is my favorite song by her.
One of my favs by Retha!
A whole lot of female singers influenced by Aretha, she was truly blessed with a gift from up above, and when you have that no one can touch you.
BABEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! YOU AIN'T NEVER LIED!!! YES INDEED!!!
I know you love Whitney and so do I but Aretha in her hay day was killer. Wish you would do some more of her like ain't no way, baby baby baby, just gems. I love your reactions.
Dorothy Hodge , I totally agree , I loved Whitney`s voice during her prime vocal years too but for me prime Aretha just slays everybody .
@@christhomas5761 agreed. Whitney, Mariah and Celine are all amazing and Whitney is the voice, but prime Aretha is untouchable by everyone
They go on about Whitney but Aretha in her prime was unparalleled.
True
💯
Never play with Aretha, Aretha could sang nah and you can hear the pain and struggle in her voice, it tells the story. My God!!!
One of my favorite Aretha tracks!
That’s that blues sound. Those musicians playing were her Muscle Shoals recording studio band.
Eric Clapton is playing guitar on this track.
This I think is my favorite aretha song ever ❤
It's the "JUKE JOINT" sound 😁
You should check out her sister Erma! She had a set of pipes on her too!!! I love Erma's rendition of "Light my fire" and the original of "Piece of my heart" which unfortunately got overshadowed by Janice Joplin's cover. You can definitely hear the family resemblance between Aretha & Erma!
The queen 👑
One of my fav songs from the Queen!
It is said that she was singing so good that Eric Clapton had to come back to put his guitar on it because he was too distracted by her voice.
On this particular song ,it was Aretha all the way ,the high notes was All the hers and not Cissy’s.
My favorite Aretha recording 🔥🔥🔥🔥🎤
Eric Clapton is playing guitar on this track. This to me is the best blues singing recorded EVER. anyone asks why is Aretha the Queen, have them listen to this.
Yes Adam you are right. This is during the time when she recorded with Muscle shoals on Atlantic records 👏🏾😊
finally... other young black guys who are on Soul Music....I recorded Nicki Hoeky with Aretha in the backgound.
The Queen!!!!!!!!
This and Just Right Tonight are my absolute favorite
And you did em both...im thrilled when anyone enjoys her
The greatest of all time
You can hear Celine was heavily influenced by queen of soul
I think I requested this! I miss that you posted it
The Muscle Shoals band is where she used them for most of her hits..Including this one..all those white boys got all that soul...
I love watching your reviews of Aretha. Actually, the musicians that played on this track were from muscle shoals Alabama.
I suggested this on another one of your posts. I see you’ve already listened. She slays this song. She was going through some things at this time. I tell you her voice was phenomenal in the 60s
Nobody like the Queen Aretha, she was a bad mama jamma lol!

Мало кто знает но на этой записи, на гитаре играет Eric Clapton
The God Clapton on guitar
Please react to master of eyes by her, it’s one of her greatest vocal performances as well
Hi I like ur channel. When you get time can you pls play aretha franklin. ( you can't see me) pls thank u
Eric Clapton played on this.
At 0:27, that was Aretha on the piano, that wasn't a guitar 😂 But great work man, keep it up!
There is a guitar playing too. Eric Clapton is the guitarist.
Can you react to Dorinda Clark cole runs and riffs please
Mariah Heavenly plz
I'll let whitney and Mariah's fans fight amongst themselves wondering who's greater, but us Aretha fans know who is the true greatest of all time is.
and we’ll let ‘em give whoever they want the title of “vocal bible”, but we know better 😉. Actually the so called title holder has named our ReRe as one of her influences so I guess it’s all good👌🏾
No doubt.....and Aretha Franklin is ranked #1 by rolling stones.
