SUMMARY:
- Bully Kutta literally translates from Hindi-Urdu as “heavily wrinkled dog”. They reach 154 lbs in weight and 28-33 inches in height. This breed was created in India in the 16th century as a working dog that makes a great hunter and guard.
- Caravan hounds are popular pets in villages of Karnataka state in India. Just like Indian Mastiffs, they make great hunters and guards because of their great speed and stamina and can hunt in any conditions.
- Himalayan mastiff comes from the Himalayan region. It’s also known as Tibetan Mastiff and Drog-Khyi in Tibetan which means “dog which may be tied”.
- Rajapalayams served as wild boar hunting companions for the royal family and aristocrats in the Southern Indian town Rajapalayam, and this is where they got their name from. Their superpower is their incredible sight.
- When it comes to South Indian Kanni dogs, it’s surely about the purity of their loyal hearts. They are also often called Maiden’s Beastmasters because these pups are a popular gift to newlywed brides that’s supposed to protect her from wild animals.
- Rampur hound comes from the Northern Indian city of Rampur. It was no less than Maharajahs favorite breed for hunting lions, tigers, leopards and panthers and protecting them from jackals.
- The Bakharwal breed comes from the Himalayan region. The word Bakharawal comes from bakri, that means goat, because their original task was to protect livestock of nomads, including goats, from wolves and bears.
- The first known mention of Combai is from the 15th century. At that time, they were mentioned in the records of Southern Indian region of Tamil Nadu as great helpers in hunting wild boar, bison, and deer.
- Rudyard Kipling has a whole one dedicated to Dholes called the Red Dog and if you read it you probably picture these fellas as bloodthirsty and aggressive creatures living in huge packs. In fact, it’s not far from the truth.

Our family adopted a kombai dog from the streets, her name is rexy. It's really rare to find this breed on the streets and we were really lucky to have gotten her. As the video mentioned she's very gentle with other kids and friendly towards all the dogs she knows

Fun fact - Kombai dogs are from the lineage of the Dholes. I'm planning to get a Kombai myself. Dholes are 100% wild and found only in the forests. So nobody owns them in India. They're impossible to domesticate. Its like trying to domesticate a mini wild hyena

My first pet when I was 5 was the Himalayan mastiff (aka gaddi or pahadi kutta as they are called in punjab) It stayed with us for next 15 years. It was a really graceful but scary beast. I used to challenge my other friends who had dogs for a fight with him but no other dogs ever dared just because of the sheer size of it. I remember I used to feel so protected when he was around. I never had a pet after him. But I will surely have another gaddi in my lifetime.

Very few people have such a large property that their dog can get enough exercise by just running free on the property. We have a hound (the breed is used for hunting hare, rabbits, foxes and also larger animals), and we live in an apartment. We take her for several long walks each day, visit the dog park where she can run free, and on weekends we take her to a secluded forest where we go on long off-leash walks.
There are many dogs from countries other than India that are excellent hunters, since people hunt with dogs all over the world. The Labrador is also used in hunting (never as a protection or herding dog), they retrieve the animal after it has been shot. Great Danes where used to hunt wild boar.

I believe no dog is dangerous but there are some dogs that have a temper and can act tough to defend themselves or they can be traumatized because of their past.

Some dogs are just mean. I knew nice people that had a young mastiff and it bit someone in the face for no reason and had to be put down
I love dog and i am from India. So I don't scare dogs and I had a dog 1 year ago. For some health reason he is no more but i always think about him and I love him so much. Now I think I should bring a another one

And also not all do -_- I have a whole pack of stray dogs I feed and they’re not hurt at all
