Chad, it was an absolute pleasure meeting you and your wife today! I’m so thrilled that both of you were able to watch the Cort arrive. I wish you both a happy fifth anniversary! You both are wonderful people and it was such a pleasure speaking with you. So many common interest, as is the case for most of us people that love these ships. It made me very happy walking away knowing that you are going to be able to see more good ships and have pretty decent weather this weekend for your anniversary. It really made me happy thinking about that.
@vibewithmike well thank you Mike, thats very kind of you. I was thrilled to hear your voice as we walked down the pier to see big Stewie. I feel like I'm rubbing elbows with the who's who of the Duluth boat photography and video world.
@chadrawson5200 it was really fun talking with both of you. It was an awesome ship to watch. Regarding photography, I’m just a regular dude that hits record and talks! I’m definitely a work in progress when it comes to photography. I just have a lot of fun as you know no matter what. Again, all the best to both of you and have a wonderful anniversary!
@vibewithmike Keep up the good work! We love watching your videos on the big screen in our living room down in Greenfield. I'm looking forward to seeing the Honorable James L Oberstar tomorrow morning.
It was early Spring in 1973 and I skipped out of school in my Senior year with a school friend. Took my boat out on Lake St. Clair to see the Cort come up the Lake. Biggest Ship we had ever seen . . . and we were able to see it way up close. Fantastic memory from 51 years ago.
What a wonderful story. It almost feels like I went back to 1973 with you. Did you see this awesome horn video? ruclips.net/video/3Y33SEBl09M/видео.htmlsi=YRAauuQ5E3xcfSn4
My Wife and I are in town after flying in from Maryland. Contacted Mike and hope to get together this weekend. Mike is the most DEDICATED hardworking videographer imaginable. Looking so forward to watching him do his thing in person.
Sam, I will be putting the camera down to spend some time with both of you to watch the Mesabi Miner arrive tomorrow in Duluth together. The best part of never showing my face on cameras is that nobody knows what I look like unless they have met me before, so we’ll be able to really take some time to talk about the ship as it comes in. Let’s me on the north pier, the Grandma’s side. Send me a message off-line like you have been doing and we will coordinate a place to meet on the north pier.
Gotcha! BTW I am continually FASCINATED by the grace and skill that these Laker Captains demonstrate in executing the pivot from the canal into the Duluth Harbor. As a small time sailboater for 35 years on Chesapeake Bay, I can directly attest to the incredibly delicate finesse such a beautiful maneuver requires. Bravo! And WELL DONE!
How fun is that! If you’re able to see anything to do with vessels there, I don’t care the size or what kind of water it’s on. Send me a photo or a video. Enjoy your time there in Germany. That’s another place. That’s on my bucket list of visit someday. mikems1mn@gmail.com 1 = number one
I’m very excited to hear from you. Thank you so much for watching these ships and Ireland. Now that’s a place. I would love to record ships. Heck, I would just like to go there. What a beautiful country.
Tony, how are you brother! I hope you’re doing great. I got to tell you something, last weekend on my way back to the Twin Cities. I tried to stop at Gordy’s but there was a line of mile along out the door so I had to skip it. Hopefully this weekend might be better.
I’ve never been out that late to watch a ship, but I understand if people are doing it. They might just be in town that one time. However, if not, that is the ultimate boat lover in the world.
Good Friday, Mike! The Cort is a beautiful vessel. Love those waves chasing her up the channel. The water looked dark blue. Have a good weekend from Bay City Michigan.
It’s an absolutely beautiful vessel. I really was not planning on recording any ships this weekend, but when I heard it was coming in. I ran with the camera.
These 1000-footers are soooooooooo loooooooonnnngggggg compared to many vessels that pass under the lift bridge. Really fun to see how well that comes across on your video!
Amy, it’s an absolute pleasure hearing from you today. Thank you for taking time out of your Sunday to watch this video. This was a really fun video for me to record. It’s a special ship because of having the controls up on the front/bow side of the ship. Being 1000 footer that is. Again, I appreciate you taking time out of your day and even more time to drop a comment. I’m down here in the Twin Cities right now and it’s 71°. It’s perfect. I’ll be up there with the ships in a few days. All the best to you and your family!
Thats interesting! I never knew the Cort was the first 1,000 ft ship on the lakes. Learn something new all the time watching your videos. Thanks Mike and be safe out there my friend.
This ship is two pieces. Here is the front piece where you see the bow, they connected and welded the other part. How cool is that? storage.googleapis.com/clio-images/medium_7107_Cort.jpg
I hope you’re doing great in Minneapolis. It’s a lot warmer in the Twin Cities than up in Duluth right now. 80° in the Twin Cities. Summer is finally here Colleen
Mike, I hope everything is great there in the UK today. I really wasn’t planning on recording the ship, but I’m so glad that I did. All the best to you.
I missed the “live” again! Thanks to Mike I can still see the great Cort enter Duluth. It’s always a bit “breezy” at the Water, good thing you have your hood. Great way to start the Weekend!
This was a very special ship. I don’t get to see it too often. How lucky was it to actually catch it when the clouds departed, and there was nice weather with blue sky. So awesome to see this ship. I’m already looking forward to seeing it the next time.
No worries, my friend. You were able to check it out today. Sharon, I hope all is well there in Cadillac Michigan. I’ve always wondered, if a person drives a Lincoln that lives in Cadillac, is that a bad thing?😂
Thanks for the great video, Mike. Looks like it was a bit chillier in Duluth than in the Twin Cities today. But you know that it's always colder by the lake!
Kelly, yes, I did see that. I also saw that it might be raining down on the Twin Cities. Maybe only momentarily. However, we should start seeing things warm up all around the Twin Cities and in Duluth. I can’t wait. Another thing I’m keeping my eye on is some of these fires that are happening in northern Minnesota. That could affect the breathing and visibility up here and Duluth. I hope you have a wonderful weekend planned my friend
Great Video Mike I Enjoyed It Great Looking Ship The Badger Car Ferry Began It's 2024 Season This Morning Across Lake Michigan Have A Great Friday Night Mike 😊
I cannot even begin to imagine piloting a vessel of this size. Our neighbor has a relatively small pleasure boat and was telling me about how tricky it often is to maneuver and park that in a slip when they are ready to go home, as the force of the water must be contended with- something that is not a hindrance when parking a motor vehicle on land. These captains are to be admired for their skill. Thanks for a good video!
Jenna, I don’t think I could say it any better than you just did right here. You laid it out perfectly. These captains have so much skill and it’s no easy task steering or navigating these vessels. There are so many lives on board that count on these amazing captains. They should be commended every single day all day.
@@vibewithmike Yes, and then throw in the variable of the weather: knowing how to wisely and safely pilot these ships through stormy seas and in adverse conditions (and also when to take shelter). I’m sure it is no easy task, and they are probably cognizant every day that human lives are in their hands….crew members who have families who love them back home. I hope the captains are well paid for the responsibility that is theirs.
The paint job looks great! The bright colors make her look like a new ship! Thanks for the info about the #1. I always learn something from your videos. Happy Friday!
Glad you could check out the ship! I’ll bet you’re looking forward to this wolves game tomorrow night. I just don’t know which team is going to show up? We know they could win the game, but it’s really a 50-50 right now. I hope they get it, I hope they get it man!
In 73-74 my wife and I were both Air Force SSgts assigned at Duluth IAP. We had a house on the north end. We used to cross the bridge and go out on the island for picnics. We really enjoyed our time in Duluth, wonderful people. Left there for an assignment in Hawaii in a snow storm on December 20, 1974.
Paul, how cool is that! This is a very cool and interesting comment in a lot of ways. The one thing I know for sure is you did not bring any snow shovels when you left for Hawaii. I really have to ask, I do realize Duluth is beautiful and you actually lived here, but it had to be another transition to a beautiful place that must’ve took your breath away being there in Hawaii. I’m sure there’s great things about both places, but you really got to live the fun life there determining which is better, Duluth or Hawaii. Sign me up for that! However, most importantly. And I really mean most importantly. This is to you and your wife. Thank you for your service! It means a lot to me and many others. It’s people like you that served our country that allows me to make videos like this, and others to do what they want. Thank you!🙏🇺🇸
@@vibewithmike Thanks Mike. My wife stayed in for 8 years, me for 20. It would probably surprise you how often we tell friends about our time in Duluth. Our neighbors were some of the nicest folks we ever met. Bike rides down 7 Bridges (?) walking on the ice on Knife River and out onto the lake. And a great 4th of July camping trip to Gooseberry Falls State Park.
@@vibewithmike 😄 Hope you're right about needing shovels here if they are to make a visit. Sure missed shoveling last winter! It's a great workout! Truly, some of the nicest people anywhere are in the Duluth, MN area. :)
Hey friend, hope everything is great there in Florida. Don’t forget to send me some of that weather. I wanted to warm up so I can get out on the boat to show you these ships. I hope everything is going great on Sunday.
I'm from Atlanta, GA, but I fell in love with the Cort many years ago. She's absolutely my favorite! Thanks for sharing this with all of us Boat Nerds.
Absolutely love, Atlanta, Georgia. I was down there a few years ago and visited the college football Hall of Fame in the downtown area. There’s one photo that never gets old sharing. Check this out. storage.googleapis.com/clio-images/medium_7107_Cort.jpg
I have never seen this. I know the story behind it though. Definitely one that's worth the storage space wherever that may be. Thanks so much. I'm so happy to discover your site!
@ritarogers6093 and I am happy that you discovered my RUclips channel. Good people like you that are part of this channel makes this channel what it is today. Have a wonderful weekend and God bless.
I was 8 years old when the news of the Edmund Fitzgerald broke. Since I have been fascinated with the Great Lakes ferighters. Today's technology is so great because you can now track these ships where ever they go. My 2 personal favorites are the Anderson and Munson, both having just left in the last couple of days. Awesome video. While the lengths of these ships is cool, it is worrisome to me also. One funny note is you need binoculars at both ends to see the other LOL.
Timothy, I have pinned your comment to the very top of the comment section. This comment exemplifies a journey that all of us have taken to get to this point where we love the ships. In your case, a love was born for the ships when you were around eight years old. That’s very similar to me as well and I’m sure many others. It’s wonderful hearing about your personal journey and your thoughts on the ships. Boat Friend positivity!👍⛴️
Thank you for this video Mike. Looks like it was a sunny but blustery day on the pier! After watching the beautiful laker go by, a hot drink and a snack would have gone down a treat. I’m on the St. Lawrence River side of things so we see more of the ocean going freighters than the ones on the upper lakes. Either way, watching the big boats is a fun activity!
79 here in east central Illinois today. I'm always bummed out when I miss your live videos. Duluth Harbor looks beautiful today. The new paint has a beautiful shine to it on the Cort. So glad you went live with the Cort she is gorgeous with her new paint on the #1 1000 footer! Beautiful with those waves pushing her in to the Harbor! Great video Mike! ⚓🚢⚓
Don, let me first welcome you to the channel and I thank you for watching these ship videos. I also thank you for taking time out of your day to leave a comment. It’s a pleasure meeting you. I hope we get to chat more in the future and I promise you, I’ll bring you more cool ship videos all through the summer. It’ll be a fun one.
That horn was pretty legit. It’s so cool to hear each of these ships really really do have a distinctive different sound. I’m really waiting for the JRB to come through so I can document how loud that horn is again. I want to be right by the horn so I can get loud as possible decibel level. I hope you’ve been doing good and possibly are working on a new good quilt. I see some warm weather ahead in Duluth so that’s making me happy.
@@vibewithmike Mike you KNOW I love the JRB the best!!! When she comes in we have to hope it's Capt Newland, so we can get a master salute!!! Yes, a wallhanging, it should be interesting, so I'll send you a pic
Chris, thanks for taking time to watch this ship video on a Sunday my friend. And just think about this, there are a total 13 ships that are 1000 feet or longer in the Great Lakes. That’s crazy. I hope you subscribe (it’s free) and come back to channel to watch more ship videos moving forward. It’s all about having fun with the ships!👍👍👍⛴️⛴️⛴️
I thank you for watching the video and then dropping a comment. I hope that this ship video starts out the weekend good for you. There’s nothing like watching 1000 foot ship make its way under the lift bridge.
No worries about missing the live because you’re still able to see that ship video whenever you want. There’s gonna be a many many more lives to come over this summer and we’re gonna have a lot of fun on the boat as well. Have a great Friday, my friend.
Judy, the beautiful city of London! What a gem indeed. Thank you for taking time out of your day to watch this video and others. I wish you nothing but the best. It’s good people like you that make this channel so fun in the comment section. Even though we are a good distance apart we are very close together because of the ships. Again, all the best, my friend
Happy Saturday friend, I hope you’re doing well. Thank you so much for taking time out of your weekend to watch this ship video. There will be many more ship videos coming and we will have so much.
Phil, my absolute pleasure showing you these ships. There’s nothing that satisfies me more than hitting record and knowing that people are enjoying these beautiful ships that I’m so lucky to see firsthand. I hope you have a wonderful Friday and thank you so much for watching the video and taking even more time out of your Friday to write a comment. God bless.
Lake and canal a little choppy from the wind, but what a beautiful day! 😎 Gorgeous ship and the pilot house shape with the windows, unique indeed. Thanks, Mike. Really enjoyed seeing (and hearing) #1 the Cort! 🚢
I really wasn’t planning on recording a ship this weekend, but when I heard this vessel was coming into Duluth, there’s no way I could pass it up. Now that it’s done, I’m glad that I did a live stream for the ship today.
@betheurich7790 OK, remember I’m limited to 720 resolution when I live stream, but I wish I could do 4K for these ships. However, the uploaded videos I always do 4K.
No worries at all, Bill. How are you doing, man. It was wonderful meeting you last week. Those ships are still moving around. I’m really happy you’re able to see some good ships when you came up with the family. It really made me happy knowing that you had a good time.

Bob, there was no way that I was going to miss the thousand foot ship coming into Duluth. I rarely get to see it coming into Duluth let alone live stream it on a Friday. It worked out good and I’m glad I could share it today.
That was amazing. She sure was moving some water. Maybe later this weekend we can get some footage from the Boat Friends boat. Water conditions permitting of course.
I definitely want to get out on the boat, but it gets pretty choppy with the wind. The crosswinds can be pretty significant on the bay or the lake. Unfortunately, I don’t have 1000 footer.😂😂😂😂⛴️⛴️⛴️⛴️
I’m really glad that I was able to record it. This ship came in as a surprise because all the sudden I heard that it was coming into Duluth. I immediately grabbed the camera and went down to the pier.
Patricia, let me just say it’s a pleasure meeting you on a Friday. Isn’t it incredible? How RUclips can point people in new directions. I’m so glad that you found the channel and I really want you to look at one video. Base your decision on this video. This was a situation that I recorded at the end of last year and it was unbelievable the weather conditions. I want you to look at lake superior how crazy it looks, and then the sky as well. It was really cold that day. Check this out, my friend and all the best to you. God bless. ruclips.net/video/mKzamgCa6zw/видео.htmlsi=4D-PFkmF-t3swbiT
have a big ole placemat size picture of the Cort up in my shop that i got many years ago at a gift shop on Mackinac Island as it was going thru the Poe lock, she's one sharp lady.
It’s such an awesome ship! Boat Friends, take a look at this link. This is the front section of this huge ship. They welded the rest of it on to make it 1000 feet. Check out how this ship used to look. storage.googleapis.com/clio-images/medium_7107_Cort.jpg
Where is my good friend! Hey, you can miss any live stream as long as you watch it at some point. I hope you’re doing great. I thought about you when I saw the ship come in because I knew you would love it. It’s really impressive in person and I hope to see it again soon. There’s just something about that awesome pilot house upfront.
I believe that is water discharging from the cargo hold to actually load. It’s water in ballast. Essentially they need to have weight in the ship as it goes on the water so they fill it up with water inside and drain it before they load real cargo. That’s what I believe. Chuck or someone else can verify this.
How awesome is that! How many people in the world can say that? What an unbelievable experience it must have been and so many cool stories that must have come from it. What is it like up in that pilot house with all of those windows it seems like it’s a very long and big area up there compared to other vessels.
Rich! Wow! I thank you so much for this donation. When I go out to record these ships, I’m always excited to see something new and to have fun out there by the pier. The ships definitely impact me in a positive way. This lets me know it’s impacting other people for sure. It really makes me happy knowing that you’re enjoying these videos like this. It’s a Friday, I really hope this video kickstart your Friday off in an awesome way. We have so many more awesome ship videos to come my friend. Again, thank you so much for your support and being part of this channel.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏⛴️⛴️⛴️⛴️⛴️⛴️⛴️

Another great one, Mike! Cate and Dan from the Madison area, but we’re in Door County today. 70 degrees today here. Looks gorgeous in Duluth! The resolution is just fine on the live stream. You do such a great job.
Hello my friend! Always good hearing from you, specially on a Friday. That weather sounds fantastic there indoor country. I can’t wait for consistent 70s and 80s here in Duluth. I’ve been looking forward to this time of the year so I can finally break out the T-shirt and record all the time without worrying about the cold. They’re always will be wind, but I’ll take that. It’s gonna be great getting out on the boat this year, showing ships as well.
Looks awesome over there bro! The Cort huh! She is rather rare! Seems like the weeks are getting busier and busier! Hope you are doing well on you end bro! I did not know the Cort was the first! Some might be longer... Some might be bigger... But they will never be first! Newly painted too! Those waves look awesome! Thank you for sharing Mike! Always appreciate it! Take care and have a great weekend! 🌊🚢🙂
Hey friend! I’ll tell you how this went down. I initially was going to relax yesterday and skip doing ships this weekend but when I heard that this vessel was on its way to Duluth I couldn’t skip it. It was initially going to superior Wisconsin, but it had to come in for fuel, which was really lucky and also the sun was out at the same time. How can you not love this ship because of how unique it looks and yes, it is the first thousand foot ship on the Great Lakes. It started everything with the big boys. I wish you a fantastic week, brother.
@@vibewithmike Its awesome to think that Duluth is a gas station for thousand footers haha! Yeah the sun and the water looks awesome! Like some kind of painting! Thank you for taking the time Brother! Hope you weekend is a fantastic one too! Take care and God bless!
Just missed your live feed, you r so great to hear you. We r in Kissimmee FL 80degrees. The paint job is beautiful, I know Queen Cort is strutting herself. Let me know if u receive our donation??? Her horn needs a tuning. Beautiful
Dee! You have been supporting this channel since almost the beginning and I can’t thank you enough. You watching the videos is good enough. You’re always positive and really love the ships like all of us. It’s an absolute pleasure and an honor having you part of the channel.
At first want you to know that’s a beautiful LinkedIn photo. I’m so lucky to be here in Duluth to see loons almost every single day. They are absolutely stunning and majestic. I have some familiarity with what you were talking about. I grew up a few blocks away from the Minneapolis St. Paul international airport. So many people would come to my house and complain about the noise, but I got so used to them, I never paid much attention.
The beautiful state of Vermont! I’ve said it before, I want to get there and relax. I’ve had many friends that went there and they said it’s hard not to think about Vermont once you’ve been there.
Hey buddy, great hearing from you. You are awesome. But you already know that! I know your dad, the one thing that you need to know is you are way smarter than him at your age. You can tell him I said that. He’ll have a good laugh at that but it’s true. You are going to become big time.
You have been my good friend since the beginning. I hope you’re doing so great. I hope your wife is doing great as well. It’s always a pleasure hearing from you. Thank you for all of your support. That really means a lot. God bless my friend. Art, thanks for being part of this channel.
Very pretty video. We all need to chip in and get Mike a Steadicam. I always thought the Cort looked longer than the other 1000 foot boats since there is no big cargo boom on deck. All crew quarters are forward including the galley. Originally she had three wheeled bicycles for the engineers to commute back and forth the length of the ship. Originally sailed with 4 EMD 567D3 engines (16 cylinders each) making a little over 10,000 hp compared to the later 1000 foot class that usually have the larger displacement EMD 645 E3 (20 cylinder) making 14,400 HP. The paint looks beautiful.
Do you know what it was right? I had a full cup of coffee just before I went to do the video so I might’ve been shaking a little bit. Also, when you do live streams on RUclips RUclips, sometimes the video is a little finicky with the movements. If you go look at my 4K upload videos, those are steady.
I'm just messing with you Mike. You do such a nice job with your videography, there is nothing wrong with this video. Would be cool to have a dolly for a tracking shot but you would need lots of help keeping folks out of the way. Best!Sandy
@sandysmithvideos228 you are so nice! There’s a lot of jet fighters in Duluth because they have an airshow today and tomorrow. I really wish I was able to catch a jetfighter with a ship in a video.
@eliaslund8262 hey, don’t forget in about 45 minutes Preque Isle will be arriving under the Duluth bridge. That might be a good one to take some photos of. That looks cool.
Good for you! I hope you had a wonderful time. That makes me happy hearing it. Don’t worry, this RUclips video always be here ready for you to click play when it’s best for you. I’m really glad that you took time out of your day to go have some fun and listen to that concert. That’s fantastic news.
No, i was IN the concert. I even had a 6 note solo. LoL. 1st solo ever since i’m really shy. Thatz why my son drove all afternoon to hear it. I sounded awful, but at least i hit the right notes. But i hurt so bad i had to have help climbing the risers & had to sit on a stool.
@cherieblizzard9585 how delightful! You were in the concert! How cool is that! Not everybody gets to do something like that. Unfortunately, I don’t have enough talent to be in a concert ever so my only talent will be sitting in a chair watching people like you that actually can do it. I think that is so awesome. What a way to spend a Friday. What a marvelous fun day for you.
Your talent in photography trumps my supporting voice; your ability to talk to people like you do is even more important, as you put them at ease, remember their names, locations, previous messages- makes us feel like we are there with you on that pier, waving to the crews. All i do is stand behind the group, try to sing well enough to carry the tune, & harmonize with the voices around me.
You made a fantastic observation. You are absolutely correct. This is not a self unloader. Next time I record this ship I’m gonna mention that. This is a huge point and I’m glad that you pointed this out to all of us friends. It has such a unique look that I always forget to mention that. I think I’m captivated by that forward pilot House always as it comes in.
Believe it or not, she self unloads from side extending shuttle booms from the stern area. Faster than a conventional boom system. But this limits her to only a few ports that are set up to receive her load. These days it's mostly going to Burns Harbor to unload. @@vibewithmike

If I see a river cruise boat, I'll try to get photos and video for you. We may have a chance next week on our way to Belgium!!
@MichiganRocker oh my goodness! You are living a trip of a lifetime. The boat friends would love to see anything from there.
What a great day for watching this massive beauty come on in. Doesn’t get much better.
It was absolutely fantastic watching that ship
This Duluth girl saying hello today from SW Missouri. Love your videos!
Thank you so much, my friend. I hope all is well for you and Missouri and I’m glad you were able to see this ship.
I live in Kimberling City in SW Missouri. Are you close to me?
Been watching for quiet a while and finally managed to get online almost live, anyway hello from Ireland
I’m very excited to hear from you. Thank you so much for watching these ships and Ireland. Now that’s a place. I would love to record ships. Heck, I would just like to go there. What a beautiful country.
All in from Garner Iowa. Thanks Mike
Hey, what’s a ship video without getting a comment from Alan! It just wouldn’t feel right. Great hearing from you on a Friday man.
The lake is Beautiful today.
The weather was fantastic for the ship today Ed
I really like your videos of the ships 🚢 keep up the great work.
I'm Tony from Cloquet Minnesota.
Tony, how are you brother! I hope you’re doing great. I got to tell you something, last weekend on my way back to the Twin Cities. I tried to stop at Gordy’s but there was a line of mile along out the door so I had to skip it. Hopefully this weekend might be better.
Duluth has some dedicated boat friends. I saw a video of people out watching a ship arrival at 3:50 am.
I’ve never been out that late to watch a ship, but I understand if people are doing it. They might just be in town that one time. However, if not, that is the ultimate boat lover in the world.
Happy Friday Boat friends Neal from New Jersey
Neal! Hey pal, how are you there in New Jersey? I wish I could send the wonderful weather from Duluth your way.
You always know how to have a fun time with the ships. Nice beautiful weather out there today on the lake.
Thank you very much, my friend. The ship was like a floating rag. It looks so cool.
Hi Mike from Minneapolis. It is a beautiful 1000 ft ship. Gorgeous view.
I hope you’re doing great in Minneapolis. It’s a lot warmer in the Twin Cities than up in Duluth right now. 80° in the Twin Cities. Summer is finally here Colleen
Wow Mike what a ship. Great video. Brilliant sky colour and the awesome waves. 🙋♂️👏👏🇬🇧
I’m glad I had the hood as well. I didn’t think I needed it, but I’m glad I had it because the wind really picked up as I was watching the ship.
Beautiful day in Duluth . Little history/ trivia . The # 1 on the rear structure stands for the first 1000 footer .
That’s correct, the first thousand foot ship on the Great Lakes
Great video Mike. Thanks for the info on the ship. Always interesting.
This was a very special ship. I don’t get to see it too often. How lucky was it to actually catch it when the clouds departed, and there was nice weather with blue sky. So awesome to see this ship. I’m already looking forward to seeing it the next time.
Nice work , Mike.
Tom, I’m glad that you enjoyed this wonderful ship. I sure did. And I’m glad the weather was good in Duluth to show this ship today.
Sorry I missed this live! Great job Mike! Sharon from Cadillac Mi
Beautiful ship.... beautiful coverage !!! Thank you sir ❤️
I thank you so much for watching
Great Video Mike I Enjoyed It Great Looking Ship The Badger Car Ferry Began It's 2024 Season This Morning Across Lake Michigan Have A Great Friday Night Mike 😊
I have to get a video of that badger. I hope it comes for service at some point to Duluth.
Hey Mike thanks for the video. Jim Kansas
Jim, I hope you have a rockstar weekend there in Kansas brother
@@vibewithmike
Yes, and then throw in the variable of the weather: knowing how to wisely and safely pilot these ships through stormy seas and in adverse conditions (and also when to take shelter). I’m sure it is no easy task, and they are probably cognizant every day that human lives are in their hands….crew members who have families who love them back home. I hope the captains are well paid for the responsibility that is theirs.
@janetryan9779 ⛴️⛴️⛴️⛴️👍👍👍👍
Very cool ship! I still love the looks of the bridge forward design. cheers🚢🛳🛥🚤⛵
I agree, I really dig the ship and how it looks. That forward pilot house on 1000 footer can’t be beat.
The paint job looks great! The bright colors make her look like a new ship! Thanks for the info about the #1. I always learn something from your videos. Happy Friday!
The new paint on the ship looks incredible
What a beast!! Great video of this awesome ship!! You’re the best!!
Randy, happy Saturday friend, I hope I get to record this ship one more time this year
Hi Mike, beautiful sunshine in the Lake Winnebago area, WI!
Excellent to hear, that sunshine has been really getting to all of us lately and that’s a good thing. It was fun watching the ship with the sun.
Cool boat, very unique looking ship! Happy Friday, Mike!
Glad you could check out the ship! I’ll bet you’re looking forward to this wolves game tomorrow night. I just don’t know which team is going to show up? We know they could win the game, but it’s really a 50-50 right now. I hope they get it, I hope they get it man!
@@vibewithmike amen to that!
@charlieathmann 🏀🐺
@paullee2177 Paul, if you ever make it back here brother, I have a couple shovels for you because you will need them!😂😂😂😂😂❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
@@vibewithmike 😄 Hope you're right about needing shovels here if they are to make a visit. Sure missed shoveling last winter! It's a great workout! Truly, some of the nicest people anywhere are in the Duluth, MN area. :)
@LoriLeaPouttu it has to be all those ships and lift bridge and make us extra nice or…Grandma’s onion rings?
Loving your videos. I can’t watch of your ship videos. Saying hello from Ocala, FL
Hey friend, hope everything is great there in Florida. Don’t forget to send me some of that weather. I wanted to warm up so I can get out on the boat to show you these ships. I hope everything is going great on Sunday.
Weather looks great. Thanks Mike
I wish I could hit the reset button on the ships and the weather today
Forgot to mention when I hit the first like button what fun to see all the colors for the thumbs up🎉❤❤😊
Love it thank you friend
I love that number one on the ship. That is so cool Ken. It is awesome man. The big channel announcement is coming next week.
Hello Mike. I am new to your channel. Thanks for the video. Great job. Don S from Maryland.
Sorry I missed the live, went to a ballgame. Love the Cort!! Her new make up is looking snazzy!! That deep horn is so sexy! Thanks mike!
@elizabethw.8561 I cannot wait to record the JRB from the water. I promise I’ll get some close-up shots.

Jim, pleasure hearing from you, my friend. At some point, I have to get to the Soo locks. So much history and so many ships.
WOW 1,000 foot ship cool !
Happy Friday from Lake Michigan!!
The beautiful state of Michigan! Happy Friday and thank you for watching the ship
Missed this one earlier, thank you for the video!
I thank you for watching the video and then dropping a comment. I hope that this ship video starts out the weekend good for you. There’s nothing like watching 1000 foot ship make its way under the lift bridge.
Thanks Mike sorry I missed this live. But was stuck in traffic coming out of OKC headed back to Tulsa.. Thanks for another great ship video.
No worries about missing the live because you’re still able to see that ship video whenever you want. There’s gonna be a many many more lives to come over this summer and we’re gonna have a lot of fun on the boat as well. Have a great Friday, my friend.
Great livestream. Loved seeing this ship. Have a great Friday!
Now this is definitely a ship you would want to stand on your feet for.
Beautiful ship in the classic Laker design!

Was watching on the big screen!! And left my phone upstairs..great job as always Mike and thank you!
Hey, now that is awesome! What is it like watching on a big screen? Do the ships look cool on that?
They look great!! And sound even better..next time I will get a picture
@betheurich7790 OK, remember I’m limited to 720 resolution when I live stream, but I wish I could do 4K for these ships. However, the uploaded videos I always do 4K.

What a monster of a ship!
The ship is such a beast and it’s so much bigger than it looks on video. It’s so impressive
What is all the water coming out the back end 2 pipes? Enjoy your monologue, entertaining is an understatement!
I believe that is water discharging from the cargo hold to actually load. It’s water in ballast. Essentially they need to have weight in the ship as it goes on the water so they fill it up with water inside and drain it before they load real cargo. That’s what I believe. Chuck or someone else can verify this.
Sailed on her 24 years ago. truly a unique vessel.
How awesome is that! How many people in the world can say that? What an unbelievable experience it must have been and so many cool stories that must have come from it. What is it like up in that pilot house with all of those windows it seems like it’s a very long and big area up there compared to other vessels.
Thanks!

We lived on Norton Rd back when the Air Base was active. Our house was under flight paths and I remember the jets screaming overhead.
Hello from Nancy in Vermont!

@@vibewithmike thank you Mike!! Means a lot.
@eliaslund8262 you do great work
@@vibewithmike going to try and get the court at the superior marina we’ll see how that goes
@eliaslund8262 hey, don’t forget in about 45 minutes Preque Isle will be arriving under the Duluth bridge. That might be a good one to take some photos of. That looks cool.
Going to be in Duluth tomorrow
There should be ships coming through my friend. You will have a blast. I’m going to keep an eye on the ship schedule.
good morning Mike
A happy good morning to you, my friend and I wish you a fantastic rest of the day. I hope the weather is good for you.
My son and I drove up to visit family. Stopped often so it took us 4 days.
That’s fantastic! It’s better that you made it in four days and five days! Glass half full. I hope you’re doing fantastic.
Hello from Cape Town
I hope all is well there for you in South Africa my friend. Thanks for watching the ship.
Missed you live; was in a concert tonight & one of my sons drove over 4 hours to hear it.
@@cherieblizzard9585 you are such a supportive good person. Super appreciate you.
I I keep missing the the alerts. I love this stuff
No worries, you were still able to see the ship Gary. I hope you’re doing well, my friend.
How cool!!!
Casselton North Dakota
It was so fun watching the ship today
Hey, we don’t have snow no more in Minnesota or North Dakota so we are good
She left the Sturgeon Bay shipyard late this year. They did a lot of work on her in the dry dock. I saw this year, but she is a real interesting ship.
Chris, that’s cool. I wish I could get over to Sturgeon Bay to check that area out too. Think of all the awesome ships that came out of that place.
98 in Phoenix! Thank you Mike!
Believe it or not I’ll take 98° any day watching a ship
Friday beast mode
😂😂😂😂😂😂
The only difference, we would actually hand the ball off to this ship on the goal line. ruclips.net/video/vQuL09u6520/видео.html
Hello from Florida!
The beautiful state of Florida with the sunshine! You can’t go wrong. Thanks for watching the ship and you have a fantastic Friday night, my friend.
Hello from Southern Indiana
I hope all is well there in Indiana Dave
Thanks Mike. Didn't realize she is not a self unloader? Lee in NC.
Go to 2 mins 10 seconds into this video to see her self unloading transverse shuttle boom unloading in Burns Harbor. ruclips.net/video/RZDUT7RLT80/видео.html&si=wHaWRlVi5AqSrkdz
