I have visited Duluth several times, and as someone from the high plains of Texas, I was fascinated with the ships, the Alpena being one of my favorites, but had little understanding of the operations. This video filled in all the gaps in my knowledge, I enjoyed it very much, thanks for posting.
Excellent video! The loading & unloading process is very interesting. When I was a kid back in the 50s, I would spend hours watching freighters unload coal in a yard a couple of blocks from my house. That was a long time ago when most homes burned coal for heat! When the weather was bad on Lake Superior, the ships would sail on Portage Canal where I lived in Hancock. Sometimes they would tie up at Lily Pond so I could see the ships up close. One day I watched 15 ships sail by our house! Would love to visit Duluth & do some ship watching if time & money would permit.

What year was this filmed? I'd Like to see a current version of this.
