I appreciate the old jujitsu the skills offered people especially women in war time specifically WW2. What would improve jujitsu is STAND UP techniques, locks, throws, reversal against the clinch, wrestling or boxing karate kickboxing attacks. MMA would see a real evolution if jujitsu got you from pins against the cage or as when Fedor use Sambo against CRO COP in the same motion of defending kneeling he flip CRO COP over. Jujitsu has the potential to lift the standard of MMA until then it's Sambo and wrestling.
I love John, but I wish he would read into catch wrestling a little more. Catch wrestling was doing literally everything, and at a high level. But the infighting and lack of central source of recognition has muddled its influence.
Joe and Danahar experts on Jiu Jitsu but never ever competed in Jiu Jitsu competition. Yet they insist on winning by submission only not by points is hilarious because it’s not easy winning by submission in competition. This is where people who never competed are totally misinformed and clueless.
