Great vid, very entertaining. Pro tip for those building one. Don't put your finger in the finger-slicer bb hole. Instead, turn the frame upside down and drop a string with a weight on the end. It'll come out the seat tube that way and nobody loses a finger. Great video, great riding boys! I can't wait to reconnect on the trails sometime.
You see that titanium hardtail, you know you're a man of class...... a man who appreciates the finer things.... ya. You get my vote for outro of the year.
Man!! Love this video! Can’t stand those- hi-rez bike build videos- that are all “perfect” with that “coffee house” feel, when we all know real life never works that way!! Especially working on bikes!!! And loved the Segway to the trails to end it! Awesome job!! 😂 oh And hit me up I have another care package for you!!
Great to see another Chris on a Maniak with a Pike Ultimate fork. I've been loving mine despite all the rain we've had in San Diego limiting my riding as well.
Very fun and exciting video. Those trails are beautiful too. It’s so cool seeing that “Hardtail Party” Binary Maniac in the wild and so nice that it’s to someone who is returning to riding a hardtail bike.
This is one of my dream bikes. When/if orders open back up, I’m getting a frame. Dope vid 🤙🏽. This is pretty much how my SuperX build went when I first put it together 😂
Honestly, I can’t complain too much about weather. I’m in southern CA where there is no off season 🤪 Just shows how spoiled we are when we complain about a few weeks of rain here and there..
Cool vid, good to see a riders impression of the bike. I built mine up no issue, other than getting that dropper cable up the seattube. Gonna get myself a 130mm Pike Ultimate to replace my Yari this summer. Sadly, haven't had a shakedown ride yet. Weather has all trails closed for weeks now. Dying to get a ride in on mine.
Totally the opposite of a Gee Milner build video but exactly how every bike I have built has gone. The bike looks fantastic but I do like your Dawley even more. Thanks for the video and looking forward to more. 👍
@@ShreddingSpree haha it’s a custom geo steel frame from Marino Bikes in Peru. Hoping for all good things. Frame is powder pink and i’m gonna put silver components all over it. I do intend on filming some or all of the build process haha
looks fun. If I start by my house I could go up Wilson Truck road, down Los Pinetos to Placerita, but then...up the Beast and then down Wilson...omg epic.
6:38 Backwards does not matter, it's Sram lever so you can flip it over without disconnecting the hose. I run brake at the right. But as I too have flip flop levers I can flip them over. I have Formula Cura 4, great brakes apart from the lever blade using plastic bushing that wears in few hundred km. SO will get RG Bikecomponents lever blade upgrade. Bearings 👌
@@ShreddingSpree of course you might need to cut the zip ties off, but as long as it's not internal routing that's not an issue, so just putting the lever trough the front triangle and reattaching. problem solved. so if you do this mistake and don't want to disconnect it after you got a perfect bleed, this works.
I built mine up and was surprised to see it was close to 2 degrees slacker than I expected. I still love the bike, but did install an angle adjust headset to steepen it up a bit.
May I ask if you also measured/calibrated the flat ground, & measured also the effective seat tube with the Pike Ultimate please? The Binary Maniak geo charts state that "dimensions are using an unsagged 29er 120mm fork and 29 x 2.3 wheels and tires"; maybe the extra 20mm in fork travel affects effective angles 7 measurements?
Was his frame made correct? I’ve seen a lot of people having 2-3 deg slacker head angle than it’s supposed to be. Better in my opinion but not what people paid for.
We never actually measured the HTA but it definitely appeared to be more slack than expected. Sperb has since dropped the fork down to 130mm and he likes it more.
Any chance he can measure it with 130 on there? I am supposed to get my frame next month and am debating on angle adjustment headset. I have a 130 fork and really don’t want to be steeper then 65 degrees
@@ShreddingSpree Great info for comparisons. I'm 6' evenly split between torso and legs. I filled out Binary's size form and spoke with George (@ Binary). @@ShreddingSpree Oh nice, I'll have to check it out when it's not 90°+ in DTLA. I take it's the black trail & not the blue trail(start looks a bit hard to get to?)?
@@Alex_564 yes, trail forks has it marked as a black trail but I’d say it’s a solid blue. It has a few steeps spots and a couple rough spots however in my opinion it’s only difficult if you’re going fast. The climb is a little tough. It’s called the beast because it’s so long with minimal protection from the sun. The trail is worth the cost of admission though.
