i know i’m 2 years late, but i grew up by this forest. i’ve never experienced something personally, but my cousin, who lives in a house surrounded by these woods, has had weird experiences. she once did a ouija board and didn’t want her mom to see it, so she hid it under her bed when she was done playing with it. the next time she came back in her room, it was opened, out of the box, sitting dead center in her floor. so she took it and put it in the trash can outside her house, so in the woods. she hadn’t thought about it for a few years, until she was moving and packing up her room. she went under her bed for the first time in a while (i guess since she put the board under there) because she wanted to make sure everything was packed, and there the ouija board was. she swears that house was haunted and that it has to do with being right in those woods.

I’m excited to watch!
i live in jersey and have seen/heard the jersey devil in my own wooded backyard quite a few times. i can’t say it’s ever been after me, but one day i woke up and took my dog to use the bathroom and before i even got off my porch i saw at least a dozen birds, groundhogs, and rats gutted and laid out across my yard. the smell was repulsive and the sight was even worse. my dog (big pitty guard dog) started whimpering and staring dead at something in the woods. i couldn’t see it at that time, but my dog did 100%

I worked in an archive and special collection department around this area and know a lot about the Jersey devil lore, Batso, and the abandoned towns. It is really cool to see this honestly, as most people do not believe or know about it in Southern Jersey.

Pine Barrens are my most favorite camping destination. Kayaking on the Bass river. Stopping on the river to have lunch and swing on the ropes and swim. Great fun. Some locals ( known as Pineys) are nice others are out their minds. Interesting folks.

because when you can see the thing you know is violent and can hurt you it seems to be more scary than the thing that you cannot see but you know can hurt you.
I love that the guy they talked to at the beginning basically said, “Don’t go off trail, but if you do, here’s how to best prepare yourself.” He knows he can warn them all he wants, but he can’t MAKE them stay on the trials, so he gave them advice for how to best be safe if they do go off trail.

It's not actually the devil. They call it the "Jersey Devil" because it resembles the Devil and the noises it makes sound hellish. There are many accounts on how it was created. The main account is a mother had a baby that turned into the Jersey Devil. Any of the ways from most accounts, it is from Hell, typically thought of as a high-ranking demon.

I saw the Jersey Devil when I was a kid off Clinton Rd (Hewitt, NJ) it jumped from tree to tree….I remember my friends and I running faster than I ever had before without looking back. Still convinced it was real 20 years later.
