Can I get an LDS on my 2003 Honda civic? It has another 10 years TBO. But seriously, 100lb weight savings on the nose is noticeable, esp with trim at low weights.

There has been an upgrade to the older design called MAUI. Mid-life Avionics Upgrade Initiative. This mod has been out for approx 10 years. I was working for AA as a contract mech when this mod came out. This LDS system is more advanced. The younger right seaters and mechs seem to adapt much better to the digital than us older types.
I know the feeling. I flew all of my hours on steam gauges. Now it’s Garmin Glass for even older aircraft. It would be nice if some company could come up with engine retrofits that are economical for some of the early GII and Lears.
I was flying 767-300 for Kalitta air when they did a retrofit with a cheaper company. Probably good they didn’t spend much because the following year they shut down their 76 program and leased the aircraft out.
Is there a similar scheme to upgrade the 747 displays? Or are the 747’s already considered “modern”? The flight deck of the 747, to me at least, is looking a bit old and tired now. A beautiful bird of course, but the drivers seat is looking past it’s prime.

It's an improvement in that it's lighter and more reliable, but a step backwards in useful interface with the pilot.I noticed both in the airplane also during simulator sessions pilots were less accurate especially in the final 1000 feet to TD

I mean really, calling a meeting a TIM?
I like the idea, BUT!!! MAYBE replacing a small standalone attitude indicator with an equally small standalone electronic one is not a good idea. You win absolutely nothing but it can be a great WORKING tool in case of full cabin blackout.
The standby mini-PFD has a battery in it that lasts about 15 hours (not sure of the exact figure, but a long time). Kind of like a re-chargeable watch battery. So in the event of a complete blackout, you have the mini-PFD running on its own standalone built in battery. If you can’t get down in 15 hours, you’ve got bigger problems. Plus you probably won’t have fuel for 15 hours anyway. The standalone mini-PFD is a tried and tested bit of kit and is in most aircraft today.
That avionics are good during the day, but in the night is so difficult to see, because of the bad contrast if you put down the brightness down. The horizon and flightdirector are so small, you need glasses to see from you normal position in the seat. And the speedvector is oversensitive, so it jumpes up and down all the time if it‘s bumpy. Many our pilots hate those new avionics! This is a view of a 75 skipper.
Our company upgraded our Saab screens to LCD. Look amazing at full brightness but we have the same issue with the contrast when the screens are turned down. Ironically, their brighter at their lowest setting than the CRTs. The CRTs would leave the flight director a little brighter than the horizon when they were turned down. Still, happy to see something new up there.

Lower power, and they don't light the whole screen like an LCD, they light the individual pixels, making the blacks wayyyyyyyy blacker. Goodbye edge bleed, contrast issues, all of it. Between the POS airbus and the 57? No competition I'd turn wrenches on my beloved 757 before I'd deal with the crapbus any day one look at an MEL list tells which ones more reliable

Boeing has made so many mistakes post year 2000. 757/767/777 was peak Boeing. After that, they have started to decline.

You should be contacting your technical reps and advise what the issues are so they can correct the issues.
