Very good value for money. But Vicario is to corners what Lloris was to passing out from the back (shocking)

Vicario is one of our better signings over the years. But let’s not forget, it’s now a “thing” to impede the keeper these days. When Gabriel scored, 2 Arsenal players stopped Vicario from moving towards the ball. Man City’s first goal at WHL, they impeded the him too. It’s not Vicario, it’s laws of the game that have been adjusted to legalise obstruction on the keeper. COYS

Well said. Arses did the same to Ederson. Doesn't make Ederson a bad keeper because of it, nor does it mean the same for Vic.

If you look at the footage of the GoonSqaud goal, Vic had a clear run to punch away but stayed on his line.A good shot stopper doesn't make him a good keeper. His distribution and vulnerability under crosses has been exposed and will continue to be exploited.

Look at Raya! He is so commanding of his own box! Why? They have a set piece coach! They rely on set piece now! Vicario can improve along with more practice! But do we even practice set piece under Ange? That’s the point

Bet if we signed Raya and Arsenal Vic we'd have the same conversation about Raya. Raya was very shaky first few months last season when arsenal played more attacking and only looked better when arsenal moved to 5-6 bug defensive players. Also city with 3 CBs and Haaland struggled more in 45 mins than we did in 90 Vs arsenal so is Ederson also a problem. Back the team and back Vic

I agree, Vic will improve, he looks nervous adjusting to his role, add 5-10kg and he'll be a rock, we need to talk about Romero, I don't think he's a good fit, slow on everything, and sometimes his attitude can poison the dressing room, sell him to Madrid and put Radu there
    Nice vid Sonny!

I keep banging on about Cuti. He has been at fault, IMO, for all goals up to the Brentford one. He has "mind farts" continually and only concentrates for 95% of every game. and it's the 5% that kills us. As part of the "leadership team", he should be the exemplar in defence, not the root cause of issues. He needs to sort himself out. Yes, he's a very good defender, but could do far better if he'd concentrate more. Just, IMO.

The year prior to Ange we were the second best set piece team in the league. We aren't inherently soft on corners, and it's not just Vicky. We just needed that set piece coach. We now have one, but not as good.

I remember people saying the same stuff about Lloris. Give Vicario a few seasons he’ll adapt. However I do feel we should sign a new bench keeper to show Vic that if he continues to make costly mistakes he can be replaced and that he’s not untouchable.

  • @matthewnicholas6365

The thing about telling keepers to catch balls is that you WILL drop some. You don't wanna be dropping any at the feet of attackers in your 6 yard box. That's why keepers punch. The odds are higher that with a punch, the ball ends up away from immediate danger.
I don't think "pundits" and "experts" really talk about that.
Vicario's bigger problem imo, is a lack of any prowess. Teams are basically fouling him senseless. I'm sure there'd be penalties galore if you did that to attackers.
I feel sometimes he needs to go down tbh. Not always as the refs will start ignoring him

@SonnyTalksSpurs I bet they punch more than us non-fans realise though. We don't watch 90 minutes of all of them.
I'd also he surprised if the punching thing wasnt going on a lot longer than we realise. TV coverage has only been prolific in the last 20-25 years.

Lilly Savage would be more dominant in the box than Vicario is. But, rumour is we didn't stretch to a private jet for Romero so the poor thing had to fly easyjet from Buenos Aires & has been suffering jet lag ever since

  • @peterm7548
    @peterm7548 29 дней назад +4

Raya would have been a better buy but Vicario was cheaper and easier to get in. He's not bad but I think we need to upgrade the keeper position and bring in a further first team level keeper. Forster is past it and Vicario needs competition from another strong keeper. Vicario is a decent keeper but he might be our Ramsdale - a good first team keeper who should be surpassed by a better new No 1.

@@SonnyTalksSpurs Hard to say as I'm not great on keepers but someone like a Ramsdale or Henderson would provide good competition. Im not saying get rid of Venom just make him think he has to fight for No 1. That was Lloris's problem, he got too comfortable.

Hate to break it down to Vicario but Raya is shorter but he faced 20 corner kicks from Man City the other day and conceded 0 goal! Perhaps Vicario can be more commanding of the box if we hire a good set piece coach like Arsenal! Arsenal front 3 are not as good as us! But they can always rely on Gabriel header

Vicario is still adapting to the playstyle of the Premier League. It is a very hard adaptation to go from playing to survive relagation in Serie A to play at the top level of the Premier League.

Current rules basically allow the keeper to be mugged on corners. I'd like to see more help coming from our big fellas. Some clown starts crowding Vic, introduce yourself with a well-placed elbow.

I think Vicario is a brilliant keeper. I wouldn’t swap him from Raya right now. He’s still very young for a keeper and will only improve. Don’t forget that Raya has far more experience in English football. He’s very good playing out of the back. He will improve at set pieces and I think as a team we’ve definitely improved compared to last season. Why are spurs fans so fking fast to get on players backs. They just have to have a scapegoat after every game ! It’s nonsense and the levy haters are more interested in getting him out of the club than actually getting behind the team.

I want him to work but i dont think he is the perfect keeper for us. However, we have to look at whether he can improve or not. Then we need to understand who else is available? I dont think the game has many outstanding keepers right now and the way we play means a greater emphasis on the keeper. Inter if true are sniffing and if they are prepared to pay the money, and we can upgrade, then it could be shrewd but i dont believe we will sell him. He needs better competition to up his game.
