Red performing at the Bryce Jordan Center on the Winter Jam Tour Spectacular 2016, in State College Pennsylvania. This video features their entire concert.
I've listened to Red since I was about 6 years old (a couple years after they made their first album) and my stepmom was in a store one day and was going through the Christian music looking for decent bands and singers and she came across their album End of Silence. That's how my family discovered them and ever since then, we constantly listen to them in the car and even my little sister (who's 6 now) asks for my parents to play Red in the car and she sings along and dances around in her car seat. They've honestly helped me with a lot through their music (I won't go into detail) and in February my stepmom took me to Winter Jam for the first time and it was also my first time seeing Red live. I can honestly say that that was one of the best nights of my life. Standing outside for 2 hours in the freezing cold to the point where I couldn't feel my feet was definitely worth it. During the intermission my stepmom and I went and spent like $160 just on Red merchandise (including a hoodie for myself) and after the show I was able to meet them and I started crying and I ran to Michael and hugged him and they signed my hoodie and their graphic novel and a few other things and Anthony drew on my hand. They were extremely kind and I can honestly say, coming from me and my family, that this band means everything to me. - (Sorry this ended up being so incredibly long! I got carried away! Thanks if you took the time to read this far!!)
11:13 going from running through the stage to high powerful melodic line to 11:27 brutal scream on a live performance? THAT'S TALENT!! Michael is one of the best contemporary rock vocalists IMO!!
I was thinking the same thing. Is this 100% all him singing without any help from the mic or special affects type deal? I absolutely love this band and he has an amazing voice but watching that run and jump and then scream without messing up makes me think a little. I get no one is perfect but I would wanna hear him naturally 100%. You can tell that he's definitely singing but there are a few times that make me wonder if he gets a little help on certain parts
@@mikostaudle6887 Well some compressor work or soemthing is probably done on the mic, but no real edit or anything. I was super skeptical until I saw them live, performing, even without a mic. Mike is the pure definition of a vocalist. He's brutal.
Why these guys aren't head lining Winter Jam is a mystery! They're every bit as popular and successful as Skillet (who headlined last year) and are relegated to a four Song set?! Time to have a Winter Jam break off tour specifically for hard rock/metal acts such as Red, Thousand Foot Crutch, Demon Hunter, The Letter Black, Flyleaf, Veridia, We as Human and others. I'm not wasting a whole day waiting in line just to see Red for 15 minutes. I'll wait until I can catch them headlining their own tour.
+Tim Rudisill WOW what I wouldn't give to see a tour like that.....I hate how Christian rock and metal gets put in the corner because it's not your typical "worship." Lots of people, myself included, find rock and metal just as moving.
tbh. I didn't really enjoy red when I went last night, I felt like KB and Trip Lee should've been higher on the line-up than red was. When I listen to red, it feels satanic, nothing like Christian music, just like a couple of Satan worshipers. and the makeup made it look like a cartoon, the whole performance went from me being excited to being disappointed because it wasn't what I expected at all.
+ATL Kicks sorry the drama performance went over your head a bit. The story is the story of REDemption. First song was about being spiritually dead to awareness of our sinful nature. Next was about finding hope in Christ then letting Christ in even though we are afraid to let him see the darkest part of ourselves. Finally, surrendering and asking the Holy Spirit to breathe into us. You can't tell that story without some dark imagery. As for the make up, the drama was based on their graphic novel so they were made up to look like themselves in it. I agree the rappers should have been higher profile, but they did start WJ with some high energy. I am glad they had something to suit everyone's tastes.
That would be such an awesome tour! I have been waiting for something like that to happen. I go to a lot of christian rock/metal shows, and having one big night of rock and worship would be amazing. It's too bad We as human broke up, they would have done so well on a tour like this. And I only got to see them once, and they had like a 3 song setlist.
They only got 15 minutes? Since I wasn't at Winter Jam earlier tonight in Atlanta, I had no idea how long their set was. My Daughter was there and sent me video. And man I would have been jumping around like a madwoman, headbanging. This crowd was in shock I think. The best Christian rock band ever. They should headline from now on!!!!
Wow...Red has amped up their live performances like crazy since the last live videos I saw from them a couple of years ago. I sooo wish I'll get a chance to go some day!
this is about the most still crowd i have ever seen at a red concert. but luckily i will get to see this set live tomorrow So Stoked!!! cant wait for Winter Jam also great video and audio!
+halounited56 Christians mate, Winter Jam for peter's sake, this isn't Warp Tour or the Apollo X Tour. Like the other youtuber said, they are there for ChrisT Omlin and Chowder (sorry, couldn't resist) .
Can't believe they only gave RED 15 minutes. They are the best! We are thinking of going to the one in Greenville but just not sure if we want to wait outside for 10 hours for 15 minutes of RED.
10 hours? Really? My family left at 10, and got there at 11:30, we waited until 5 to get in, but it was worth it because we got great seats. I think you were exaggerating a bit, because I didn't 10 hours and we were 5th in line.
Went to my first Winter Jam this past Sunday. Main acts I wanted to see were Red and Crowder. Was sorta disappointed Red only had a 4 song set and the crowd reaction(or lack thereof) was just as bad. Mike didn't say much at all compared to this. Kinda felt bad for them. Idk if the hard rock genre turns off people but there seems to be this stereotype that you can't be a Christian and listen or be in a rock band. Funny enough people were dancing and reacting to the rap artists(not a rap fan lol). All that aside I really enjoyed all the sets. No matter what artist you went to see or what genre you like the best, it doesn't matter cause we are all believers in one big room, enjoying the show and praising God!
Always a fan of your work, thanks for sharing this on you tube. This yr I unfortunately couldn't make it to winter jam at state college and I really wanted to see Red. Watching this made me feel like I was there. Thank you so much.
As much as I hate that they have a 15-minute set, at least they are there. This is the only time I usually get to see them so I am still excited. Plus there are some other great bands and artists. The beauty of WJ is that they have something for everyone.
Love love love Red. They are amazing live! Too bad they don't come to Washington State nearly enough. And yeah, they should easily be headlining, but they are pretty humble guys so I don't think they care, but they are way more talented than most the other acts.
Joshua Silva-ponte they are a Christian band. They’ve said it in plenty of their interviews and why on earth would Winterjam invite them there if they weren’t Christian.
I was there at the concert and this was the most spectacular moment of my life! Getting to see Red perform Live! I had my light stick on red just rockin' out! And when the song Darkest Part ended, I literally hugged my mom and cried of excitment! It was just amazing.... But I felt like Red's part was short. It felt like Red had the shortest part, and everyone else had like 20 or 40 minutes! Like, is there something wrong with Red? Too scary? The fire? So like, after Red's part ended too fast, I then sat down and couldn't smile that much. So the rest of the show, I got sorta..... Mad... At least at some point of the end, some of the people got on stage with for King (or Kingdom) and Country....
With music in general, rock and metal get pushed to the side in favor of music that's happy and trendy. It sucks, but that's the way it is. I'm glad you had fun seeing them live. It was my sixth time seeing them, but it never gets old. :)
@Zulema Torres Feed The Machine from the album Until We Have Faces, then Take Me Over, Darkest Part from Of Beauty And Rage and the last one is Breath Into Me from End Of Silence :)
Seriously? He holds the mic out, and NOBODY does anything. That is bad concert etiquette. Why do these guys always get the HORRIBLE crowds? They deserve so much more!
this is Hailey Lawwill (commenting) Me and my sister Sydney was there it was amazing we didn't get home till 3:30 in the morning and WinterJam didn't end till 1:15
I'm sick of the disrespect and the way WJ treats rock bands (with the exception of Skillet since they have headlined before). I get that RED is just one of the performers, but 4 songs is a disservice. Do you know how epic it would be if RED, TFK, Disciple, FF5, or Switchfoot headlined WJ? The lineups get weaker and weaker overall each passing year. And half of the evening is advertisements, which is fine because of the message WJ needs to spread which is the saving grace of our Savior, but I come for a concert, not a bunch of product pushing. Also, the crowds have no energy. At all. Ever. You're at a concert, not a usual church service where you're quiet. Lol :) Rant over.
+Casey Beauston Exactly! Red is the biggest name on the tour this year. I'm not talking the little Christian Top 40 market. I'm talking mainstream success as well. They TOP rock charts every time they release an album. And who's above them on the tour? For king and country (wasn't that the little unknown band on the jamtour last year? They're a flash in the pan, just following the latest trends.) Crowder (Personally not a fan at all, I realize that's just my opinion but really, how popular is this christianized copy of Hootie and the Blowfish/Mumford?) Matthew West (OK, yeah he's successful in the Christian market. I feel like he peaked a few years ago though.) Lauren Daigle (Who on earth is she?) And then there's Red. They get to play 4 songs. It's very disrespectful. Plus when you have headliners like the ones on this tour, all the crowds are gonna be dead. Rock bands HATE playing to dead crowds. Ugh.
+Casey Beauston Dude, I was at that show yesterday... It was a 6 hour gig and they had to cram 12 bands + a couple of 15 minute stories/testimonies. Every band that played did 3-4 songs, even the headlining band for king and country.
+shadwarr 12 Yeah. I've been to winter jam before too. Not too much of a Rock- or that type of energy- crowd. Sad day. But I've seen apart from Winter Jam and the crowd is way better for them.
This crowd is so frustrating. Red is trying so hard to breath some life into those people. If I were there I would just constantly jump and scream from excitement and sing with Michael and get angry even more with the fact that the band got to play only for 15 minutes.
I feel like writing Red a letter.. "Dear Red, please please please please please times infinity fire the person that lines you up with these gigs and then please times infinity do a tour with The Devil Wears Prada or For Today or Fit For a King (ALL CHRISTIAN BANDS TO THOSE SQUARE TOMLIN LOVIN' Muppets) And I bet [guarantee] the crowds will be more energetic, more accepting of you, love you more, and you'll make more money and gain more popularity than even now. I may add that your current fans will probably have more of a blast and not be so disappointed in only hearing 3-4 songs. Sincerely, a fan that has been listening to you since you first started and saw you during your first tour."
It doesnt matter how it went it only matters that this is all about how jesus christ died on the cross and how he is our savior all of this was a message to spread the word that the savior will come for us one day to take his childeren to a better place one day and that we need to be ready when he comes for his childeren to be with him in heaven
People are so confused, God uses people in how ever he wants, God isn't limmited by music, because so manny christians thinks that God will not move in a rock song or other music style that they don't like... I feel you guys, I love all these bands and I am from Puerto Rico and I only can hear their music, I can't go to these concerts and I wish with all my heart that I wish I could go... And for those who said that "Rock is bad" better watch out because thede guys are giving all his heart and they are giving their talent to God while you are sitting on a chair judging them!!!! I wish I could play rock in a band just to exalt God anf that lives could get transformed by our talent! So, don't judge things that you don't know! Better start praying to God and pray that he remove your "based style music" ...
Coming back to this in 2021 and man... I hope they realize how much their music meant to me and many others. Being a christian but also being into rock didn't make it easy going to winterjam with my youth group and friends back in high school. Most of the artists featured never really connected with me. No offense to contemporary Christian artists but damn most of it sounds fake and all the same. Bands like Red on the other hand connected with me on a literal spiritual level. I dont really know how to describe it and im just rambling at this point, but I really hope bands like this continue to exist in the christian scene for people who need something more hardcore to connect to.
It does suck that these bands only get 4 songs, but I have to say that letting Skillet headline was an amazing step in the right direction for WJ. It gives me hope. That said, christian music as a whole is marketed for soccer moms. :/ That's why crazy generic, stale bands like For King and Country are so big. I respect the amazing men FK and C are, but they are unbelievably boring!
I happen to like them as much as I like red. but something I've noticed about concerts is that only certain bands get to have a long show. red had a 45 minute show back at winter jam a few years back. I don't know if it was a headline but it was long.
My friend, read your Bible, scripture commands us to live differently than the world. And in the heavy metal genre, it is very easy to be worldly, this video is proof of that. Scripture says, "Abstain from all appearance of evil." - 1 Thessalonians 5:22 "Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God." - 3 John 1:11 "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." - Romans 12:2 "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." - Philippians 4:8 Christian music as a whole is not marketed towards 'soccer moms', many songs by many different bands sing about struggles that all people go through, share the gospel message, personal life testimonies, and also rejoice and praise God. Just because they aren't heavy metal, does not mean they are stale or generic, keep in mind that a Christian concert is not the prime place for metal music.
Red absolutely killed it at the Houston show! The family next to me had to take their kids out during their performance though haha, and then after the entire show they were like "I didn't really like that Red band" "Yeah who are they?" and similar comments. Made me laugh, but I understand this type of music isn't for everybody. They should have access passes where you can switch the fans in the front for certain bands. There's like 20 minutes in between performers so that time could be used to switch up the fans in the front. Idk probably a dumb idea but to me it sounds good. I wanted Red to see that they have people there actually enjoying their set rather than these still bodies.
Ya i went saw them play in little rock ar and they only played 4 songs....they were the best out of all the bands. I was a kinda upset that they didn't let RED play longer
I went to winter jam and they were by far my favorite performance!!! But just out of curiousity, what camera did you use to take this video. The zoom is really good. So is the audio.
15 minutes. So lame. This was such a good performance. All of the production and rehearsal that goes into this just for a quick 15 minute set? That sucks, man.
I've listened to Red since I was about 6 years old (a couple years after they made their first album) and my stepmom was in a store one day and was going through the Christian music looking for decent bands and singers and she came across their album End of Silence. red does their guitar spin the crowd just stands there?
+shadwarr 12 Cries!
+shadwarr 12 Yeah. I've been to winter jam before too. Not too much of a Rock- or that type of energy- crowd. Sad day. But I've seen apart from Winter Jam and the crowd is way better for them.
shadwarr 12 What time?
BULLSH*T
This crowd is so frustrating. Red is trying so hard to breath some life into those people. If I were there I would just constantly jump and scream from excitement and sing with Michael and get angry even more with the fact that the band got to play only for 15 minutes.
I was very front row beside the flame throwers an it was so hot lol
Lol I had backstage passes so I stood next to one and I agree there really hot
I saw them at the winter jam in Raleigh last week.
I'm going to see them on March 25 in Raleigh. it's interesting to see these comments. RED only got 15 minutes???? that's not right!!!
So many amazing and well known Christian rock bands that weren't in WJ this year.
I was there yesterday and my favorite band would be crowns and country
same, I was there yesterday and it was amazing.. :)
Anyone that was actually there remember the bats that they let loose? That was so cool!
I was there lol
can August Burns Red and Red do a collaboration? That would be amazing redception.
andy.tv please yes!! My two favorite bands :)
That move at 14:20 though
Red was best no matter what happend
I was there and I thought one of the guitarist were gonna catch on fire when they went by
got the graphic novel as well
Coming back to this in 2021 and man... I dont really know how to describe it and im just rambling at this point, but I really hope bands like this continue to exist in the christian scene for people who need something more hardcore to connect to.
that was dope i was sad when it ended
I was there :) it was so fun!
Great video,
But get a
Better camcorder to record better quality of the concert. Like the Canon G20 I use to film concerts. Really good.
I was there, their performance was amazing! But the crowds were sucky.
Scripture says,
"Abstain from all appearance of evil." - 1 Thessalonians 5:22
"Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God." - 3 John 1:11
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." - Romans 12:2
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." - Philippians 4:8
Christian music as a whole is not marketed towards 'soccer moms', many songs by many different bands sing about struggles that all people go through, share the gospel message, personal life testimonies, and also rejoice and praise God. Just because they aren't heavy metal, does not mean they are stale or generic, keep in mind that a Christian concert is not the prime place for metal music.
It's sad that I was the only one in my youth group who liked them
Same. I went with my youth group and my brother and I were the ones excited about seeing RED. I saw them at winter jam in Arkansas.
the last song is my favorite & their performance was pretty awesome i dunno why ppl were just standing there as if it was illegal to move or headbang
The best is RED, Skillet and Jeremy Camp
IMO
Red and skillet but not jc
Dude When they came to Iowa the crowd was screaming at the top of their lungs....why is it so silent?
It's a Christian crowd
Ya i went saw them play in little rock ar and they only played 4 songs....they were the best out of all the bands. I was a kinda upset that they didn't let RED play longer
sharing your vido on face book! lol Red was awesome i whent to wj to see one of my favorite bands
Thinking about seeing them in Houston but 15 minutes ?! I WANT A FREAKIN HOUR k thx
Thanks for the upload, hell of a show too bad the crowd sucked.
I went to winter jam and they were by far my favorite performance!!! But just out of curiousity, what camera did you use to take this video. The zoom is really good. So is the audio.
I WAS ACROSS FROM WERE YOUR SEATING
Was this in Lexington
This performance makes me want Red to headline on West
15 minutes. So lame. This was such a good performance. All of the production and rehearsal that goes into this just for a quick 15 minute set? That sucks, man.
Scott Gaetjens it's a 10 band set so some bands have to go front start to finish in a timely tempo. RED always throws down in those 15mins tho.
