I don't get why they would have set up the app etc before leaving the dealer.
They cut the part were they tried putting diesel in it.

I did a 2k miles roadtrip with tesla without any experience of superchargers. Was pretty good so far.

Roman and his painfully dorky son almost make these videos unwatchable. Andre is the saving grace. Tommy is absolutely painful to watch and look at. He wouldn’t be on this channel at all if his daddy wasn’t Roman.
I enjoy the road trip vibe, Andre and Roman get on very well and it really comes across like two friends just rolling down the road.
Urban use for a “work” truck (haul, tow) makes sense, where trucks can recharge over night. No way does it make sense to try anything of a longer nature. Under load and acceleration the batteries drain too fast and charging takes too long. Diesel is by far the most efficient power plant for real world application. Politicians who see everything through the green lens have never actually lived and worked in the real world of towing and hauling.

80K plus for this truck, and you still get stuck for a "subscription" to use a option you paid for already.......nutso.
Just a heads up, the lightning cannot utilize more than 150kw charger, so plugging into the 350kw charger is just blocking others that could use it. Same with the mach e, they can both go up to 160kw for a short burst. Those numbers are from ford's website
Be easier to fill up and be gone in 5 minutes. 80k to sit and wait every other hour charging. Look at me I'm stupid.

@@atlasstjames5904 almost never fully “filling up” most people will go home plug it in and wake every day fully charged. 20 hour trip being 25 hours isn’t that bad saving 300 in 5 dollar gas.
EV is cool and all but I think plug in hybrid is still the better option for now. Considering how long it takes to fill and how much range you get.
They're definitely excellent transitional cars to get people used to the idea of driving electric without the range anxiety worries. I had a 2017 Chevy Volt that was rated for 53 miles of electric range, then 42 mpg on gas. It's not for everyone, but man can they help most people to reduce their reliance on gas.
In winter it was more like 40 miles on electric with snow tires and heater usage. In warmer months, it was closer to 68 miles. It handled my 38 mile round trip commute just fine, and the gas engine was nice for if I had to drive further, or if I just forgot to plug it in the night before.
Every 6 weeks of no engine use would prompt the car to run EMM, or "Engine Maintenance Mode", where it would run the engine for 10-15 minutes to lube it up.
After a year of low gas usage since I didn't have any significant long range plans, it entered FMM, or "Fuel Maintenance Mode". It warned that the gas that had been in my tank could be starting to go bad, so it forced the engine to run until I burned it up, then had to refill it with fresh gas. It was a pressurized tank to help the longevity of the gas and still ran just fine.
Once I hit FMM, I felt I could comfortably switch to a full EV, and ordered a Tesla Model Y. 2 years later and the Model Y is still going strong, and thanks to the supercharger network, I've gone on numerous long range trips with it, including to Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon from the Midwest, which was around 8k miles total.
I've been road tripping EVs since 2018. It's really not that bad. My average stop is 9m longer than it was with my 2016 Expedition. I had a little dongle on my Expedition that told me my info, and I compared it to the same trip with our Model X I replaced it with. The trip at the end of the day was 42m longer, and instead of 14 MPG I got 88 MPGe. That was 1127 miles from NC to KS. The key is to charge to the next station, you're not 'filling the tank to full' you are utilizing the navigation to bounce to the next station. I gave myself a 20% buffer to what it said it needed.
We've done a shorter trip in the Polestar 2. Going to drive to Orlando in July so we'll see how that goes. I will say Tesla definitely has a better comfort level because EA doesn't seem to care when their stuff breaks and takes forever to fix.
PHEV is nothing more than a more expensive vehicle that compromises on both things in my experience.
Most charging is done at home, not that big of a deal.

Really had an overall positive experience with the Tesla I rented... and zipping through the hills and canyons was a blast
I agree completely. with a small engine to charge the batteries it is a great compromise to range anxiety and getting a tow truck
How “convenient “ is that. After a long day driving I can spend an hour sitting at a charger instead of a 5 minute stop for fuel. I’m sure it would be a great time up here in Canada at -35.
That and driving an efficient gas powered hybrid often costs less than publicly charging and EV
I live in MN.. Dont have a problem with my car in -40 temps. But admittedly they just aren't the best for cross country yet.
For daily commuter they work great though. I drive alot every day. Usually 3 hours for work. Never had to charge on the road yet. Even in the coldest weather.
Obviously something that will need to improve though before they become very mainstreamed.
Still; unlike my normal car; with the EV I actually spend zero time at fill station because I charge at home.
There is a Ted talk about how bad the carbon footprint is on those big battery electric. The ICE is better for the env than big battery electric
I personally really like that they kept the design of the traditional f-150 rather than go with some crazy design

Yeah if you wanted something that looks like a traditional truck but in a EV form but it comes at a price and that price is aerodynamics unfortunately, which cuts your range. I sure someone will make a EV truck that is aerodynamic and appealing eventually.

@@brianlewis8320 yes, it will be interesting to see what Ford does with a ground up design next. What they did in terms of tech to make the F150 get this range is quite remarkable. Most people don't realize what they have done because so few talk about the tech.
We outlawed using a cell phone while driving and now have fools playing on a tablet for 1200 miles while driving.
Andre is cool. Roman is am acquired taste. It is what it is. Great channel.
It would be nice to see:
1. How much each charge cost.
2. How many miles you traveled between charges.
3. How long you spent at each charge station.
Nice truck though, looking forward to seeing how it performs.

So we drove from Vegas to the Hoover Dam to this gas station that says "last stop for gas" well it said we could make it to the canyon and back to the gas station with like 10 percent left. But being that this was my first time renting a tesla I didn't want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere and I didn't know if the hills would have an impact on my range, so I stopped to fill to 100 percent before continuing. Now I didn't know at the time that different stations charged at different rates and this gas station was not a supercharger station so it took about 25 mins to charge from like 70 percent to 100 percent... which sounds bad but after a bathroom break and picking out road snacks it's not too bad!
The worst part was the charge back...once we got back to Vegas we had like 30 percent battery. We went to this supercharger station (you can filter charge stations on the GPS/map!) And there was a line to charge! Luckily when I pulled in only one car was in front of me..but once I got my spot and parked there was a line of like 8 teslas waiting to charge. I charged there for about 45 minutes.
Now I onlyy rented the Tesla I dont own one but I really really wanted to drive one and I must say it was an absolute blast to drive! The pick up and acceleration was mind blowing to me.. I had a dodge charger hellcat for a few years and the car would put you back in your seat just like the hellcat. I'd love to have an EV for daily driving where you can charge at home and not have to worry about stopping for 45 mins to charge that was my only complaint.
Edit: sorry for the drawn out answer that didn't answer your question 2-3 times I'd say I'm pretty sure twice but I may have charged on the way back from the canyon while stopping again for snacks.

My mach e has only been to a destination charger 3x since I bought it. Non issue outside cross country road trips

@@mattbrew11 not really. I live in TX and drive between Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio a lot. EV is out for me until I can drive 300 miles and recharge to 100% in 15 minutes. My F150 gets about 600 miles on a tank of gas and can be refilled to another 600 miles in under 10 minutes. Giving that up makes zero sense.
Although you're not paying for it now, 2 miles per kw at 43 cents per kw fee is 21/22 cents per mile. That's roughly the equivalent of a gas vehicle getting 24 mpg at $5/gal.
I did that math too lol. Seems like all that extra weight in this case countered any efficiency gains
where I live the commercial rate at my work or at a tesla supercharger = .25/kw... charge at home rate = .08/kw.
But ev is the answer😆

Run the math. Not what you think. Unless you wear diapers poop and pee in your diaper the whole trip, never eat, never sleep. For the most part 6 hours is buried in off road activities. Step back and take off you Shft colored negative glasses (against Ford or EVs).

Just FYI we just took our mini se from Texas to Illinois and back, 1600+ miles. No range anxiety and no charging issues. I watched y’all’s mini roadtrip a few times from New Mexico to Colorado to gain confidence and try to roadtrip it. It did awesome. Probably would not do in winter, but spring summer no issue. Also EA stations seem to be getting better and better reliability.

I think waiting until at least the next decade is the smart & practical move for those who use pickups for some long distance traveling and/or moderate/heavy towing. The non-Tesla public charging infrastructure is still hit and miss and costs for the truck (pricing for most models and many dealers adding additional fees) are still too high for most people.

Just took a 2500 mile round trip to Florida and back with my 5.7 etorque Ram 1500.... 22.1 mpg avg and the bottleneck when refueling was letting the dog out to pee. Sure, if I was dragging a trailer my range would be reduced, but this really only costs me money (which I can make more of) and not a significant amount more time (which I cannot make more of).
You'll find for most truck owners who have the income to purchase this $80k brick, they value their time much more than coughing up a few bucks extra at the pump. Have fun spending 40 minutes "filling up" after an hour of towing, if you can even manage to find a charging station that is large enough to pull through with a trailer AND all the stations aren't already taken. We are absolutely nowhere near to having the infrastructure or technology for these vehicles to exist.

Not everyone tows, most people will charge at home 99% of the time. Average person will only drive more than 300 miles in a day a couple times a year. These lightenings will sell like hot cakes.

For the ignorant who keep bringing up the antenna… it is there by design for two main reasons. 1.) it serves as a precise warning indicator when entering a garage or door too low. It makes contact about inch or so above the roofline (enough to cover clearance lights too). That really works. My F350 and Raptor this has made it easy to judge a few times there was a question. 2.) the AM and FM reception is much better. Since many of these are out in the boonies, do not use sat radio, this makes noticeable difference compared to my other vehicles with glass antenna. There are RF principles at work.

I’m about to take another 1,600 mile road trip in my RAM 2500 6.4 HEMI. I absolutely can’t stand the thought of adding so many hours to the trip for recharging. 15 minute stop, then easily another 500 miles of range with several gallons of reserve fuel. Pushing $100k tax, title, dealer prep and the rest is a little hard to swallow too.
Imagine them towing a 7000lb travel trailer on this trip.i bet they wouldn't get more than 150 miles on a charge and would add 10 hours to their trip over a truck like yours.ev's are a good idea in small cars used in town but thats it in my opinion
@@scottromero4004 re: "i bet they wouldn't get more than 150 miles on a charge". you bet correctly, Roman even just alluded to as much at 32:40. they're actually NOT getting more than 150 miles of charge on the trip they're on right now completely empty and WITHOUT towing anything. unfortunately it's early days and what people still haven't figured out yet is that max range numbers advertised by the OEM's don't matter, no, like big HP figures that number is just to SELL YOU THE VEHICLE (which it does) as such the only thing that matters is the distance between DCFC charge points, and those are currently spaced at an average distance of... wait for it... 150 miles.
logic dictates one can't stop and charge in places where an EA or EVGO (or anybody elses) DC charge point DOESN'T EXIST (aw crap). yeah so when the range indicator says you have 160, 170, 180 miles that "extra" is simply a buffer to cover the additional LOSSES for when it's raining, cold weather, running wipers, running AC/Heat, running navigation, power steering, fast driving, weight of 4-5 passengers, playing music, towing jet skis, etc (hint: all accessories are powered by the battery). if one can only go 150 miles it certainly does help for us "whiny" and "complaining" Humans to at least be able to do those miles in "comfort". ladies and gentlemen we may not like to admit it, but the OEMS actually know us better than we know ourselves.
Not only that but trying to get into one of these charging spots with a 28' travel trailer would be a REAL treat.

I’m at TFL because of Andre. Simple as that. I’ve grown to like the others and that includes Roman, there is good rapport. The content isn’t as polished as some, but that polish is generally paid for. So, we can assume more honesty here. Not total, but more.
However, if you must micro-manage, do it off camera.
Having said that, I’ve come to enjoy road trips and shenanigans over staid, process driven reviews.

Ever so slightly.
What I like about even just plain old adaptive cruise control, which I have had since 2005, is you really don't mind going just 70mph. It's all the braking and speeding up and down that makes you want to just get your trip over.
I always enjoy how tfl doesn’t edit out frustrations or difficulties they have when testing vehicles. It’s exactly what we deal with whenever we buy something new these days with login and apps. I trust tfl when making vehicle purchase decisions

Andre is apologising and Roman's overbearing and impatient. Here's a tip while hanging out in passenger seat take out your phone and connect up at anticipated location. Guy's all of us are not good at multitasking and most states illegal, Be a help not a hindrance to the driver. after all driver is responsible for safe arrival.-
make sure to also turn off the giant gps tablet and dashboard gauge cluster. have someone work the pedals and driver only use the wheel. never multitask while driving.😅

I had a Mach e and you should check in the app to activate “plug and charge” that way you just drive up to it plug in and that’s it. No need to use the app or anything else

Heck with all that BS, too much hassle. I'll keep my Lariat 5.0 Coyote with the extended range tank. 10 min gets me 620 mile range on the highway.

@@BillUtah There is some difference. A gas F150 Lariat is in the mid $60k to low $70k. They'll get a $7,500 tax credit so the real cost delta is probably 5-8 thousand or about one year of gas costs.
@@knudsenj100 the rebate will not be something that everyone will be able to get. Also a 5.0 gas truck would be in the mid 50s and certainly have more payload and towing capacity. We won’t even talk about the reliability of the EV down the road. I’d never be a first Guinea pig of any vehicle.

First, shame on Ford for letting you leave without helping setup the app for charging etc. Terrible service.

My god, watching you guys try to figure out how to charge the car was driving me nuts. Ha ha.
First, Andre is my spirit animal for holding that thumbs up for way too long.
Second, it's new tech. People expect there to be no learning curve with new tech, but there always is. Be patient, work thru the issues slowly and methodically, and you'll be pros in no time. No need to be in such a rush all the damned time.

The charging experience it appears that either
1: user needs to read before pressing things (Roman)
2: mfr needs to simplify the process (Ford attorneys)
Btw the most difficult instructions to read is for a bostich air compressor. Which made a process more hazardous by to assemble

I just bought my mach e a couple of days ago and i charged it for the first time today at an ea. I activated my comp charging on the app prior to charging. All i did was plug it in the ea port and then it took it. I didnt mess with with the app at all. It told me the cpst of the charge but ended up 0.00 at the end due to the complimentary charging

Andre, keep your eyes one the road! From your backseat driver. Take the time to read that one display; I think it will send text updates to your phone regarding the charging process. I also suspect the Blue Drive (or whatever it is called) monitors you, the driver. It wants you to keep your eyes on the road, especially if no hands are on the wheel. Try testing that theory, see if that's what's going on.

Electric charging complexity reminds me of watching helicopter pilots trying to figure out self serve Jet-A (jet fuel) at small airports 😂. I'm sure it will get better with time.
The F150 will automatically charge when plugged into EA charge stations, these boobs just didn’t set up their account before the trip

LOL But Self Serve Airport Fuel is quite straight forwards and not that complicated, especially if you are smart enough to achieve Helicopter license rating. It's just a lots of simple procedures.
@@Neojhun 30 year aircraft mechanic here. pilots are often the dumbest smart people you'll ever meet. Smart (usually) at pilot stuff, but it seems they often lack common sense and actuall figuring skills for something new.
I bought an EV one week ago. I had to charge on the way home, and I knew that before I ever even left my house to go get it. I researched DC fast charging and watched a couple youtube videos before the trip. I downloaded the EA app and set up my account on my couch in my living room. When I was on the way home in the new EV, I pulled up to an Electrify America charger, opened the app, selected the charger number, plugged the cord in, and hit start on the screen. It's not complex at all. Think if someone had never pumped gas before and didn't know how to pay at the pump. Any time a "new way" to do something comes along, you have to take a few minutes to learn the process. But DC fast charging is ridiculously easy.
Love your videos. For the Dalton highway LT tires are a must - way too many flats. Even the spare. It will hammer your range, but at least you’ll be be rolling.

That first charger stop is something you don't have to worry about with Tesla. All of their chargers are the same and you get the highest charging possible at that time. And they seem to always work. That was not the case with my previous BMW i3. Most of the other brands of chargers have a lot of problems with not working.
You even got the attention of my wife who is NOT an EV deciple. She enjoyed seeing the operation of the truck. This is an indictment of the limits of the technology however. I WOULD NOT have the patience Andre had with the charger/apps.....
You can start charging from EA phone app. They had issues because they were trying to use the Ford charging credit.
@@jghall00 Yup. There's also familiarity. I recently taught my nephew how to gas up the car (his dad is a bit paranoid and always insists on doing the fill-ups, so I figured since my SUV is a safer diesel it would be a good chance for him to learn). Forcing myself to describe the procedure and hearing the questions he asked, it was eye-opening how much of the process is just automatic now after 30+ years of driving. After some early teething pains, it looks like they've simplified it to about the same as filling up with gas. Just takes (a lot) longer.
The charging credits thing might have been easier if it were issued as either a gift card which could be read by the machine like a credit card (for us older folks), or an e-payment credit for the millenials and younger kids.
I've read that driving into direct sunlight may negatively affect the bluecruise system. Seemed like you guys were driving into the sunset when it was giving the warning messages, so that might be the culprit, just a guess though. Keep up the videos!

I've had my Tesla Model Y also warn me about a camera being blinded by the sun on sunny days at certain times of the year, depending on the angle it was at. It would still run, but since the left camera was being blinded, it wouldn't do left turns.
It also warned me of limited use when I was stuck in traffic in Yellowstone National Park, and heading to West Yellowstone while the sun was starting to set.
Not sure if they could really do anything about that though, as driving with the sun at a low angle in front of you is always tough, even for people.
My Subaru has trouble keeping track of the road when it is rainy, glaring sun, snowy.
Within 5 years this will be the best selling car in North America. Who wouldn’t want one?!

I want a F150 lightning in the UK. I assumed they’d have the J777 charger rather than the CCS so wouldn’t be compatible with our chargers. As they have CCS we could get them working straight away.

On charging, pretty much everything non Tesla here is going to CCS though you can get both the J-plug adapter and an adapter for the four-pin 240 volt US power plug for home charging.

That’s interesting - so the J plug is mainly superseded. We also used to have a different plug before CCS became the way to go. Our teslas have CCS as there’s some sort of EU rule that means all manufacturers have to use the same charger.

I am not a EV or Ford fan but, this will be a very interesting trip to find out all the pro's and con's of owning one.

To make it clear, a road trip does not find out "all" the pros and cons of owning an EV (or any vehicle for that matter). It only finds out the pros and cons of road tripping with an vehicle and that's it. Regular daily driving around town which the majority of people do the vast majority of the time is where you'll find out all the other pros and cons of EVs.... But it's mainly pros and why EVs represent the best type of vehicle to daily drive.

This is the most instructive video I have seen on the Lightening. Unless you have high tolerance for charging issues and long charging time it’s best to stick with hybrids for now. The Lightening will be a great success but there are plenty of kinks to work out on charging. Like EVs generally, current versions are best when driving locally, charging at home.

It is not expensive. Just that trim level. TCO is much lower than with combusting engine.
The average cost of a new F150 is something like $60-70k. It depends on the trim. Depending on where you live, how much electricity is, and how much you drive it could easily pay for the difference between the lightning and the base before the truck is paid off.
All to high to be honest. I purchased a 2021 toyota tundra trd sport in early January of 2021 right before the shortages were announced to dealers. I was out the door at 47k tax title everything with dealer extras msrp was 53k. Riding this until the wheels fall off.
How meany miles will it take for the fuel savings to “pay off” the difference between a Lightning and anF150 trim level to trim level? That’s what counts.

Recently took an early morning 700 mile trip from Salt Lake City to Stockton in a MB e550. 700 MI. 9 hours. 83 mph average. 24 MPG. Lovely quiet stable car on almost empty daytime desert roads. Premium $ 5.5 in Salt Lake City. $7.20 in a Stockton.
Avoided fluids so only one gas/snack stop.
Fun for one day, but not every day.

I don’t think I have the patience to sit there and charge my car for 45 minutes to an hour but I can stop at the gas station for literally five minutes and be on my way it seems like this extends my driving more than I want it to be on these long-distance trips
Yup! A short trip will turn into a long one on just charging. No patience here!

This just really looks so time consuming. From having to sit around for an hour or find chargers etc. great video and looking forward to more to experience owning an EV through you guys.
It's only going to get worse with the more they sell. Imagine having to wait 2-3 hours per stop because there isn't enough chargers.
@@ingresswizard9044 oh I agree, they already have video of people waiting in line to just charge. 5 to 6 cars deep, I’ve even seen people here just sleeping in their cars just charging away. Couldn’t imagine having to stop my trip for an hour or more just to charge and hit the road again.

@@ingresswizard9044 that is something to consider. Look at how many cars roll through a gas station. The infrastructure just does not support mass adoption especially for long trips.
Now imagine sitting around waiting to charge or for a charge station to open in below zero temperatures.

@Defective Degenerate Sigh. The reason for the global increase in fuel prices is because of the pandemic response and lockdowns. It's the sole reason the global economy is practically crashing. In the US, which political party was pro-lockdown? Which party controls the media that ran pandemic fear mongering 24/7? So, blaming the Democrats for the increase in fuel prices is logical- even though US Democrats didn't "directly" cause the price increase around the world.
If you forget what the pandemic was, it's that thing we all talked about for 2 years straight until news coverage went from 95% to about 5% sometime around the time Russia invaded Ukraine.
I am not alone in thinking this, and that will be reflected in both the midterms and 2024 presidential elections. Mark my words.

Great job guys. As a stubborn full sized and HD truck guy who loves gas guzzling ICE engines, I'm actually very curious about what it's like to live with a electric truck. Because inevitably we're all going to be driving big ass duracells. I hate it but what do you do. Who am I kidding I'll probably be just keep my 85 f150 till I die. What a nightmare charging instead of glug glug here's 50 bucks see ya next time. Gosh I hate the idea of sitting for an HOUR minimum for something that takes 3 minutes now.

$240+ to fill my 120L tank from empty here in Canada... I very rarely ever make long distance trips like this so the F150 Lightning is very tempting for me..
Hopefully you guys are tracking travel time to and from chargers apart from the most efficient route and total time spent charging so we can get a real world picture. Thanks for the vid.
The "A Better Route Planner" app does all that on your phone so you can see all that before you leave home. You could just enter in whichever car and the battery size and it will recommend where and how long to stop and how much the stop will cost. I do that with my Tesla and I often have it running at the same time as the Tesla Navigation because Tesla tends to want me to go until the battery is low and then sit for a long time, where ABRP tends towards stopping more often for much shorter periods. I am curious about how the Ford Nav compares for when mine arrives.

A wall of swappable batteries charged up, and swap on and out.

My model 3 charges to 80% in 20 minutes which allows me to drive another 180 miles and costs about $9. I can stretch my legs and get some food while it charges.
And the car is super fun to drive.

No reason to use a 350kWh charger when the Ford only does 150kWh. This is what everyone will have to deal with sadly. People using chargers that have no benefit for vehicles that charge slower. Yes the Ford can do maybe 170kWh if/when the stars align but it’s not very long and 20kWh more isn’t enough to hog a 350kWh charger for. Looking at the video it seems to not even pull 150kWh for any meaningful amount of time and around 100kWh seems to be the average. Yeah no thanks. I’ll stick to an ice truck for road trips. Adding 6hrs to a 20hr road trip, painful.

Check the route on ABRP. I ran it for my Tesla, total trip 22h with 3h 20 min charge time. Not bad for 1285 miles.

Im guessing that most people dont road trip at all. Charging at home will be what will be more important. Especially since the rates ate 300% more at electrify America charges. Pathetic.
Even people who do take road trips take one, maybe two a year. And if you are able to charge during meals and normal rest stops, then overnight, it realistically isn't going to add that much time
I do less commuting and more road trips. As people work from home more, I think that may be a popular trend.
Did you ever think the cost of building the changing station? Of course you pay more at the charging station.

As a general thought, not too far in the future there will be heaps of 'EV Stations' in towns , where up to 20 EVs can charge, at say 400kw. So that's 8 MEGAWATTS of grid power allocated to that one basic 'fuel station' ! 8MW is the planning allowance for 2000 houses?! That's a whole town of 5000 people! For ONE 'fueling station'... What have I got wrong here.

I've been wondering about this as well. Sure we get everyone off the oil tit, but what tit are we switching too? The current electrical grid probably won't be able to handle everyone using electric vehicles. Also, wonder what the electric companies will start charging once we are all using EV's. The savings gap verses gas might end up evaporating.
After my first road trip with my EV, I kind of just felt that “this is worse than driving a gas car.” But, I learned a few things in that trip, and my second road trip was a much more positive experience, and cost me way less than gas.
I wonder if you could charge an EV with a generator using 2 gallons of gas?
When I first started driving a hybrid I was surprised at the feeling of "who needs and EV when you have 50-60 mpg with gas and none of the drawbacks?
But cost you more in terms of time and hotels and restaurants.....

Depends on aero profile, just like ICE. If you lose half with ICE you lose half with EV.

@@TheAndrwwJohnson if your headed on a road trip and your going for a few days like cross country, you can't charge up at home and your towing your trailer. You will need that full 100% unless you want to stop even sooner than you want to
