Dr.Thank you for your excellent points regarding cortisone injections! I wanted to share that I'm in my late 50's and have been struggling with severe knee tendonitis for close to 15 years. This pain effected me daily from lifting out of my chair to getting out of my car and other squatting/bending positions necessary in life. It was excruciating during those movements. My doctor was unsure if a cortisone injection would help but we tried it anyway. I literally feel like I have new knees! The pain relief was instant and 2 months later, I still marvel at how well it worked. It relieved 100% of my pain. Praise God. I pray it continues to work longterm. Thank you again.

Just within the last few weeks my Rheumatologist suggested shots for both hands as I was having terrible joint pain in my hands. Within a week of eachother I had both hands done. It’s been a few weeks from my first injection and about a week from the second. I can’t believe how much better I feel. You’re video just came up so thought I’d watch. Even though I have had the injections I’m happy to learn more about the steroids. Thank you so much. Debbie from the GTA.🥰

I injured my knee 7 wks ago MRI shows complex medial meniscus tear, bone bruise & a Baker's Cyst which is leaking. An x-ray shows no arthritis. He is not sure about surgery, but, has vaguely mentioned having a Cortisone shot. After watching your video, I decided I will NOT have the injection. I have enough problems. I'm still in pain. All I was doing was putting a sm garden flag in the ground, and almost fell and over corrected myself and WHAM O!

Some of the heavy lifting I did at work aggravated the arthritis. I don’t need to get them as often as I did when I was still working. They are well worth the temporary pain of the injection.

Its only after watching this video I went for a cortisone injection with confidence. I was suffering from pain at the back of my heel for more than 4 months and doctors advised so many things like TENS, ultrasound, change of footwear to MCP chappels along with some pain killer tablets. Nothing worked. I couldn't walk, cycle, the must do regular exercises for my Type 2 diabetes. Though doctors suggested injection at the site of the pain I was so skeptical about the steroid injection, its side effects and how long it will last etc.. In 4:25 in this video you said if the pain goes off after the injection it may not come again. This gave me more confidence to try the injection 'cos chances of getting rid of pain once for all is also possible. Now after 10 days of the injection (Kenacort 40mg) I feel completely painless and many many thanks to you for giving the needed information (like how this is different from anabolic steroids, how long the pain relief last...). Thank you so much 🤗

Im not going through with it at this stage, because i had something similar 6xinjections at once into my lumbar under ct scanner, and i went into convolution, and silent tears just pooring out, until i nearly passed out from the hurt. It was that strong. They had to stop and i only got 2 of 6 injections.
So my intuition tells me in this body particularly, im in for it, if i have cortisone injections in both hips.

Second neither of these lasted very long. A few weeks at best. So 3 shots a year would last me 6 weeks out of 52. Not great.
Third after deciding on knee surgery I had to wait 3 months because I had a shot. They would not do it till after the three months was up.

I had injections done tonmy back the pain came back after 8 months. Yes the injection takes away pain, you are more mobile, therefore you cause more injury to your bones, dics without realizing it. I have issues with brusitis and C5 C6 and I refuse to take the injection, if I am in pain, I am aware and can look after myself better, by stopping what i am doing, rest, physiotherapy or chiropractor. Stretch, heat or cold pack. The doctors want to outsource all of the given options by them in order for them to operate
So no matter what injection you take you will end up in a worse of condition and eventually have surgery.

I wouldn't bother with this , though likely the only thing your insurance would pay for . I suggest if you can afford it , acupuncture or some other remedy . Someplaces have " Community Acupuncture Clinics " Offering it on a sliding fee / low cost basis . I've had it for my neck , degeneration of one vertebrae and releived the pain and stiffness .

Agree. If injection cause so many problems like blood sugar, blood pressure, etc..., I would not want it. Chitopractor can help.

I've had some relief from epidural and cortisone but it has been more like kicking the can down the road. Ended up eventually getting neck fusion and lapidectomy. I've had them in the back, neck, elbow and shoulder. Best results were the shoulder. The elbow hurt the most. It helped but after 2 months injury re-aggravated. I believe in heat, ice and massage. No side effects. It's not a cure but helps manage things.

I had a cortisone injection into my hip and actually got a systemic reaction. Pain was reduced in my lower back and in my knee of the opposite leg. I also had really bad hot flushes for at least a week. I was not expecting this at all.

Ms Smiley; hopefully you’re feeling relief now. Or you’ve found alternate treatments. I’ve got an appointment with an ortho next week. My hip pain is unbearable currently. I am going to resist injections. It’s not worth the minute amount of relief that it can possibly provide.

However, I'm experiencing very much water retention and hunger. How long does this increase in those two areas generally last? Thank you in advance x

Hi Dr. Andrea Furlan! Thank you for sharing this information. I have a question regarding the weight gain. I received a shot for an injury to my arm and the shot did help the pain tremendously but now I have a moon face. My face is very puffy and swollen and way larger than its normal size. Do you know if that will ever go away? Is there anything I can do about it? Have you seen this happen before? Thank you so much and I hope to hear back.
