I am an american and let me say this, this is probably the most unique ans classiest lighting of the cauldron n the modern olympics. It did not need too much spendin like what they did in Beijing to be showy and classy. Hats off to London and all the British people for a job well done in hosting the olympic games.
Everything about the lighting of the Olympic Cauldron was perfect. From the guard of honour by the construction workers as Sir Steve Redgrave entered the Stadium, the selfless act of the British Olympic Heroes passing the torch over to the young generation and the the copper petals merging together into one flame of unity.
This is simply sensational, so moving. It makes me so very proud to be English and to be a Londoner. We have done a brilliant job in welcoming and hosting the world. Cheers to all those volunteers and staff who put so much into this event. WE TOTALLY SMASHED IT.
Hopefully in years to come this will be recognised as the greatest Olympic Opening Ceremony ever. I think a lot of people were a bit baffled by some it gthe first time they watched it but on second and subsequent viewing it really is a classic, particularly the Industrial Revolution sequence. Well done London. You put on a truly memorable Games. Over to you Rio. You've got a tough act to follow.
The music by Underworld is hauntingly beautiful, A true Goosebump moment, the passing of the flame from the Veteran Redgrave to the younger generation a brilliant idea, encapsulates everything that is good about the Olympic movement. The whole lighting of the cauldron, the Stadium lighting, the crowd is utterly beautiful. Have shed a tear watching this! Thank you London!!!
As an American I was upset when New York lost the bid to London, but not after that. That really was an incredible ceremony. Better even than Athens or Beijing, and I don't see how Rio will ever be able to top this. Good show, London.
This video makes me so proud of what we have done for the world in the UK these last two weeks. Seb Coe has put the Olympics back to where they should be. About youth, about sport, being olympians, competing and taking part and only an experienced olympian could have done that. We've done our typical British thing and toned down the over the top opening ceremony and taken the less is more approach and its paid off. Seb Coe deserves so much praise from the UK public and he must be praised.
Off all of London2012 i'll remember this the most. Thanks from the US this was beautiful, imaginative and so cool. Only certain countries would even contemplate this.
You can say what you want aboput the rest of the opening ceremony but his has got to be one of the best olympic cauldron lightings ever. The catch phrase of London 2012 is 'Inspire a generation' so to have old athletes handing over the torch to children still unknown for their extreme talent in their chosen sport is so clever and emotional. Thats what the games are about not celebrity status or patriotism but to promote dedication, positivity and global unison to the next generation.
This was absolutely incredible. Makes me very emotional to watch. It ws done so well and the music adds to the emotion. Makes me wish I'd have appreciated the Olympics more when it was actually on because now that it's over, I look back and realise how special it is
im so glad u enjoyed London and the lighting of this Cauldron.....like urself ive never seen anything like this anywhere before...it was simply breathtaking and very very unique :-)
Excellent footage. This is like a 'magic moment!' I have decent footage of the cauldron lighting at the Paralympic opening, if you are interested in taking a look.
Caliban's Dream. Underworld did the music, the guy from Two Door Cinema Club sings. Towards the end of the song itself, the bells / chimes come in. Around 4 minutes 50 into it.
@@TheAprizzle92 you are just falling for the same thing conspiracy people fall for by seeing patterns in things which aren’t really there. Just because an art performance vaguely resembles something doesn’t mean it’s a conspiracy. You people are nuts.
It was literally just a play of any ‘virus’, because it was part of a hospital act. The corona part is fully in your head only. Get real. You see a vague resemblance of a needle and instantly say it’s the corona vaccine, you are creating links that don’t exist.

Still the best firework display I've ever seen

Every time I watch this, I love it more and more. Best cauldron-lighting ever.
I also love it everytime whenever I watch it

This significance of this moment - the music, the wonder, the occasion - made it a near spiritual experience.
I know right I cried when I watched it on tv
It was a spell

2012 was an amazing summer. Britain felt a lot more united six years ago :'(

im so glad u enjoyed London and the lighting of this Cauldron.....like urself ive never seen anything like this anywhere before...it was simply breathtaking and very very unique :-)
I like how the soundtrack for the "moment of silence" earlier in the ceremony was re-used for the cauldron lighting. From World War I to London 2012.
Wow. The atmosphere live must have been something else. Regretting just watching it on TV now...
Amazing. My seat for the athletics on 6th Aug was very close to this! Great view, and really wish I could have witnessed this live, too!

It must have been amazing to have been there
Watching this from a first person POV is different when I saw it on TV
I love the peaceful music
Caliban's Dream. Underworld did the music, the guy from Two Door Cinema Club sings. Towards the end of the song itself, the bells / chimes come in. Around 4 minutes 50 into it.
Does anyone notice Jessie Owens running around the stadium at the 8’ 32’’ mark.....i didnt until buying the official DVD and it was pointed out.
Pink Floyd is inmortal!!
Brings back bad memories of a piss poor Paul Mcartney . and Izambard Kingdom Patel.
I envy everyone in that stadium so fucking much.
What's the song playing in the background? It's bugging me that I don't know lool
Cheers, I was there with my 4 year old and partner
my PE teacher was the person carrying out the lighting torch

The song bt the way is Calibans Dream by Underworld and the singer is Alex Trimble
Jesus, how many people can be taking photos? It's like non-stop.
There is more than one song. Starts with Calibans Dream by by Underworld and fireworks go off to Eclipse by Pink Floyd from Dark Side of the Moon
To avoid people claiming that he was biased because he's British.

Хорошая идея. Но Олимпийский огонь не должен быть видимым только со стадиона.
