Usually get the DM variant covers but something about that red cover (Tan) just stands out for me. I think I also got the regular cover for the AoA companion.

I sampled some of this out on Marvel Unlimited recently, and was digging it. Decided to order the omnibus, but the companion issues I'll just read on Marvel Unlimited. I went for the red Billy Tan cover since the Joe Mad cover is on the book itself and inside the book. :)
I've got the paperbacks, the three numbered volumes Alpha, Reign and Omega collecting the same material as this omni and Dawn and Twilight collecting the material from the Companion. Picked them all up with remainder marks, but at just under £40 for books with a cover price of $175 I can live with a bit of ink dotted on the page ends.
Have been waiting for this overview for a while now! Disappointed with some gutter loss, but all-in-all it's still a great reprint. Glad I pre-ordered!
I really thought that was Jim Lee when I saw it for the 1st time in the 90s. When I read the name and Roger Cruz was printed, all I wanted 2 do was see more of Cruz and his style changed. I thought that was Joe Mad till I realized it wasn't. Soooo CRAZY.
I love this crossover. I know 90s comics especially X-Men are much maligned, but AoA was enjoyable even reading it today. I just wish Joe Mad did the art on X-Men: Alpha and Omega.
I still wish Marvel had brought this Sabretooth over to the 616 universe. A heroic Creed running around in the main Marvel universe would have been awesome.
@@xXCigarXx He was great, far better than Dark Beast or Sugar Man who they did transfer over to the 616. And they totally squandered Holocaust, another awesome character.
Wonderful review as always. That was also the last big X-men event that I like (Cough..Onsluaght...Cough!). In my opinion all those artists were at their peak in this sotryline and never bettered it. I still have all the golden cover editions that came out back then. Great memories :)

I'm still on the fence on this one. My plan was to jump from the Claremont era all the way to Hickman (with a little stop for Morrison and Whedon). I might pull the trigger after all, I don't know. The overview was very well done.
I am surprised they didn't change this and include Tales of the AoA 1-2, X-Men: Chronicles 1-2, X-Universe 1-2, and Blink 1-4 instead of having them in a separate volume.
If Marvel ever decides to collect Wolverine by Adam Kubert in one volume, they better include (1) the foldout pages in Wolverine #90 and (2) all four Weapon X issues.

Wow, I think so! This one of the most pivotal events and it looks like this omnibus gets you up to speed on the events that lead up to this story! AND they lay it in chronological order between the various titles!
I had collected all of the age of the apocalypse books in 95 they where a great read..i never could find the finale book of the series... X men: Omega 1# But these books was a great read...

My (DM cover) copy came today from Forbidden Planet at the moment and hopefully thery will send the Companion to me next week. I haven't read this storyline since Marvel UK printed it in issues of Essential X-Men (#23-32) and Wolverine Unleashed back in 1997 and 1998 which for some reason missed out Factor X #4 and all of X-Calibre.
Stoked to finally be able to get this, I remember checking it out in my local shop like 10 years ago but definitely not having the budget to buy it at the time. My only question, is it mapped out so you don't have to bounce around to read things in a coherent order?
My copy has absolutely no eye at all. I opened it as properly as I could think. It seems like it might have an excess of glue. Would that just hold it down more and make it lose the eye?
Would you suggest picking it up for maybe double of regular price? Or wait until maybe a 4th printing? If someone can please answer, new to comics thanks! Cheers, i wasn’t sure if marvel does 4th printing for books.

Just bought it been wanting this for years but each time it reprinted I didn't have the money to get it so got lucky they reprinted when I had the money to get it.

It's a complete alternate time line. I personally think the art is not up to par compared to previous artists minus Tan...I think his work is good for the most part in AOA. This series killed X-men for over 2 decades for me though....so to each their own...
Looking forward to put a piece of the X-men puzzle in the shelf!

The newest printing looks very similar to the second printing (that I have). Love that wrap-around cover art under the dust jacket...

It really has four stories that were a part of this era. The rest are anniversary or mini series. Completionist for sure.

Wouldn't be a reprint. That's basically an expanded edition (ex : Squadron Supreme, Supersons, DC Rebirth)

Yes, Squadron Supreme, Eternals, Captain Britain and some of the X-Men OHCs that were released as omnis (if you think those count).
