La Bongada 8c+/9a | Commented climb by Adam Ondra | Margalef, Spain

- Last November in Margalef, as my main objective Perfecto Mundo stayed damp for many days in a row, I was forced to seek other sectors to get to climb. La Bongada 8c+/9a is on the south-facing overhang, and it is one of my favorite routes in Margalef. It is not just straightforward pulling on pockets, but it has really various handholds and really interesting sequences, especially in the crux through the spectacular roof. The route has a really nice flow, it changes the pace and rhythm, and for Margalef standards, it is relatively friendly to the skin.
Watch the ascent!

I really like this format of the whole climb with narration on top of it - both in this video and the one by Stephano. Please do more like these Adam :)
Completely agree, the drone footage and being able to see the entire route in the same view start to finish is phenomenal
Stephano 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Agreed, this format is awesome!
I agree completely. It's interesting as well to hear his perspective on what is difficult on the climb.

"The kneebar is really technical. You don't want to let go and just hang upside down" Proceeds to let go and hang upside down...
it's like when your father tells you "do what I tell you, don't do what I do"
This is the way I interpreted what he was saying first too. But I think he meant "it feels insecure to let go with your hands and hang, but it's such a good rest that it's worth it."
Or "when you get to the knee bar, your brain will tell you not to let go with your hands. You have to overcome that feeling so that you can rest."
How Adam says relatively is Gold hahah
And comfortable com four table
Adam thanking the sharpness of the rocks because it meant less energy to hold on... What an absolute savage.
This man is amazing, can’t wait for him to be back in Perfecto Mundo 🌍
Yeah I hope he gets back on it ASAP
Why did he stop ?
@@mangowett9967 he had to go back and train for the Olympics. Also the conditions weren’t the best 🤭
you know you´re a good climber when you get lowered into bushes and shrubs after climbing a route
The kneebar is very technical.. you don’t wanna just let go and hang upside down. He says as he lets go & hangs upside down 😂 love it!! Great job Adam 👏🏼
It is cool that you acknowledged Laura rogora's asscent, it is easy to feel that there are only men (usually the same 8-10 crazy strong people btw) in the top level climbing when its not like that at all, and any effort to recognise women athletes are important
Agree. But I still want to question why there's the need to say "it was EVEN done by Laura Rogora". It reminds the listener to be especially surprised when a woman does something hard. Because they usually don't, or what?
Wouldn't simply saying "it was done by incredibly strong Laura Rogora" have acknowledged her FFA in a better way? Happy to discuss :)
@@nsvuifnei I don't think there is nothing to discuss here, you are absolutely right
@@nsvuifnei Damned if you do damned if you don't.
@@gunnar4554 Yep, life can be complicated
beautiful as per usual Adam, keep up the hard amazing work.
Enjoyed that, thanks Adam and team.
Love these full length commentaries!
so amazing so watch such a deep analysys of a route, it´s inspiring
These videos are allways like a blockbuster for me
So much fun to watch! I hope the weather gets warmer and I can go climbing again! :D
please make more videos like this!! it is mesmerizing to listen to you narrate the route while watching you climb
High quality video!
Really nice style of commenting aswell.
Great video, love this format.
Hope you make more of these kind of videos. It's great to hear a climber insight for the moves on the route. Most of us don't climb at your level but it's great to hear your thought process.
amazing video - would love to see similar format in future videos
I love the commentary over the footage of you climbing, it makes it easier to understand what's going on.
I loved the climbing video with you commenting on the top, Adam! Please, do more and keep the good work! Congratulations!
Great video, beautiful climb! The narration is spot on as well, definitely the best format to go with
“it get’s quite a bit easier .... 8a”
"8a is pretty much nothing but jugs"
still mesmerized by the fact that all of this caves were excavated by sea water millions and millions of years ago
beautifully shot, great narration
Love the format
Awesome vid, route and climber!! Would love to see you climbing in Rodellar Adam!! Keep the great content coming!!
Loved the narration.
My goodness that's one gnarly route!
I gotta say, I love this style of video, where youre climbing and narrating it as you go. Very enjoyable
Good hustle Adam 👍👍
I really like this format
That was beautiful
Just nice!
You are fascinating, and I well done!
Great video!!
i like this style of video
Thank you very much for this video. I really like your comments!
Seeing all those clips of you out there really makes me want to try rockclimbing
You should definitely!
congrats!
nice video
Spectacular! I'd love to see this in 3D, particularly the drone shot starting at 5:20, where I couldn't believe my eyes seeing Adam hang from the rope all the way at the bottom of the frame, in front of all the brush and probably much lower than the belayer.
love the voice over
oh I missed these videos =)
Beautiful wall........
BEAST!
Adam says "I was getting a flash pump", auto subtitle says "I was getting a flesh bump"! Not a good point on the route for either... Great commentary btw
Phenomenal
buen sunset perrooo
Good vibes
I enjoy watching Adam climb. I enjoy them, even more, the voiceovers because they are so educational. But I do wish more climbers took the effort in filming and editing to compensate for how much things are flattened. A few context and elevation shots along with a route or profile map would make all the difference. Most viewers have never been to these international locations and don't have climbing guides for all over the world.
yes nice landscape... when he comes down from the roof, he is far back away in the bush ^^
Adam i will say it to you like we say: "ere un mostruo"
Thanks for the human-made subtitles!
nice video
"This is the rout you can try. Its realy nice...."
Adam: "KNEEBAR"
Nowhere like Spain for this type of climbs🇪🇸
Каждый раз, когда смотрю прохождения таких сложных маршрутов у Адама - начинают потеть ладони.
niceee🤩
Nice❤❤❤❤
Wow, watching where he came down really showed how steep that climb was!
I'm glad this was included as well.
The way u narrorate with all this information for the world and many to come is amazing ..... #badassclimber #passiton
I really hope he is in the next reelrock
The captions are funny sometimes: "flesh bump" ha ha ha XD
ofc knee bar
Adam you are amazing so powerfully motivated and you have my utmost respect, I have a question and it’s probably because I am a nurse and not a climber so even though I love watching your videos sometimes I notice things or think about things completely unrelated so here is my question, when ur indoors training at gyms is there any concern about the chalk dust as it’s concentrated in the air, breathing in this dust is unavoidable when ur in these spaces, have u ever been concerned about this urself do u have chest x-rays periodically to monitor the clarity of your lungs, thanks Rachael Australia
Adam come to Portugal we have a 9a route in Sagres called peixe porco
Sweet
❤️🙏👍
Adam come on Berici hills in italy, theres a 9a with really few ascents and of course thers so many hard route waiting to be open by some good climbers
Credo che abbia arrampicato più volte a Lumignano da piccolo ;)
@@IsuckYoungBlood buono a sentirsi! sarebbe bello vederlo ora
@@psroxas4058 non gli rimarrebbe granché da fare, ma sarebbe bello :) forse quando organizzeranno qualche festival post-Covid?
the computer cc: 'I was getting a flesh bump."
These people are not human!
To see Adam climbing around the corner of the roof without clipping the quickdraw makes me sweat 😅
Do a video with Magnus!!!
"La Bongada" jejejejeje
How many tries?
He was trying this route for a day in 2015 and in the video it was his first serious try that day.
Was this a flash?
No.
How many attempts Adam needed to send the route?
He was trying this route for a day in 2015 and in the video it was his first serious try that day.
It’s funny how in adam’s world 8a climbing is considered easy haha
Hello
So, what is the freaking grade of the route???
8c+/9a
@@gaspardg119 yes, I got this, but I was wondering the grade for Adam.
heihei
He has hydraulic presses instead of hands. Holy bible what a man!
...I'm really curious about that one dislike. What's eating U buddy? Tell us, we're here for U. 1
You are copying Stefano Ghisolfi. LOL. Nice video
Spoiler alert: there is a kneebar in the video
“This 8A section is nothing but jugs.” 🤨
I cannot phatom that he uses the word 'easy' on a 9a lol
and there its again - whats the benefit of holding the rope up at 00:34 ? does the climber has to pull less? no - iam quite sure this has zero impact in weight etc. i only see the disadvantage. if the climber needs more slack, he pulls the rope, the the belayers arm is still fully stretched, the grigri gets stuck, the belayer has to move his arm down very fast - chaos.
I do it too. Not thought much until now. At the point where belayer stops feeding he’s aware that climber is clipping so holding rope to maybe give one two extra inches if it’s just short, without having to release rope. Also because climber is just clipping at that instant it could go bad... your hand is there to take in super quick. I’d rather my belayer have two hands on at that exact moment
Adam said it was hard and steep off the deck. If he falls and belayer is trying to fumble more rope out he gets hurt for sure. That belayer is doing exactly right in my opinion
Ramonet: 8b+
What did he mean by female ascent? Is there a different route that’s easier for women or is it just because they’re less physically strong so they do the same route but slower? Sorry I’m not a climber
It means that a female (in this case, Laura Rogora) climbed the exact same route, with exactly the same rules. There is no time limit on an outdoor climb, nor are there separate rules for males and females.
Si no tindrem pas un pais preciós nosaltres
"Relatively easy" because it's only a part of a 8a or something 😂
It so funny how when Ramon Julian does the hardest routes he thinks aré less hard than the top world class climbers say.....Maybe Ramonet is the strongest😅
