Age restrictions ? ? ? Some people at 65 are pretty much "done." Others at 85 are still going strong - it's an individual thing - I'm 75 and going strong
Normal people are so out of shape and inactive that at 65 they are disabled and won't last much longer. While others will look like in their 50s when they are 75 because they are active. They will into their 90s.
Your comment about age, I'm 75, I can run circles around you. If cruise lines start nonsense about age, their ships will be empty on the "off seasons". Older cruisers are mannerly, they don't start fights, they spend big money, they don't destroy ships, and they know how to read watches, in order to, be back on time.
I’m 75 and hubby is 78. And we also are very mobile and in good health. Restrictions on age would be devastating for us as well as the cruise lines would be “cutting off their nose to spite their face”.
There are some 25 year olds who can't hardly walk. Horrible health! I do believe that a person needs to be ,"fit to travel". With reasonable accommodations.
I am a 70-year-old cruiser, a solo female cruiser. I will continue to cruise solo but I am smart enough to understand what I need to do in certain situations.
That's fine if you're conscious and capable. What happens if you're not? I'm not at all saying don't cruise. I'm saying the ship needs to have something in place to let them know they CAN contact those who you've designated in case you can't do it at the time.
Bad things happen to smart people. I’m almost 60, and like you, I like to think I’m street smart, intelligent and generally prepared and know “what to do in certain situations “. (I like to think that 😉😂) However, being 60 or 70 years old comes with enough life experience to know it isn’t all about intelligence. Fate steps in sometimes and medical emergencies can happen to anyone, regardless of age and certainly regardless of intellect.
My soon to be 79 year old husband has gone for his daily walk, he rarely comes home with less than 10,000 steps. I’m 64 and watching RUclips. Please remember to keep comments respectful
Thank you for the tour of the decorations around the set. Personally, I watch this video because you provide great news in an entertaining fashion, but for the larger part, it is because I appreciate you and everything you bring to your videos. Learning a little bit more about what surrounds you and your room and the experiences that brought you to get those items provided yet a stronger connection between me, the viewer, and you the vlogger. I appreciate all your hard work and and thankful that you are doing so well after the surgery. Keep up the great work.
I’ve traveled with several 80+, they were awesome and so aware of their entire lives. But, a very small percentage were totally dependent on someone else helping them. That should be the cutoff, you need help? You supply it! No help needed? All good! Anyone can have medical emergency at anytime. This poor woman should not be penalized just for her age!
I went on a 7 week cruise with my aunt, uncle, parents and young son about 12 years ago. My aunt had a series of mini-strokes on the first night of the cruise. My uncle was told that they had to get her checked out at Singapore, our first port from Perth, and they would be removed from the cruise unless the hospital gave the ok for them to return. It was made clear to them and later to us (my dad was a doctor and with permission, talked to the ship's doctors) that the cruise ship would not wait if the hospital visit took a while, that it was on them to organise a return home and the ship could not provide adequate care if the hospital did not clear her. That is what travel insurance is for. The hospital did clear her in the end and she did return to the cruise but she was severely impacted.
Mini strokes are different than the kind of stroke that debilitates you. Simply put, they are small short interruptions in blood flow in the brain. Someone can be cleared to return to the ship if the Drs at the hospital check for anything that might create a significant stroke and there is no evidence that it will occur, with informed consent that they don't see anything now but that could but not likely to happen, that person can return to the ship
Being of an age myself and being a solo cruiser, that all sounds like age discrimination to me and I’m afraid cruise lines would be opening themselves up to problems that they don’t really want.
All ships foreign registered hence why they age restrict excursions without issue. ROI vs. liability risk will be determining factor as no US laws apply.
Thanks so much for all you do! Love the show and the variety! Glad your health is back on track. Praying for your weight loss journey and continued health. Congratulations on 250k 🎉
I’ve worked in the medical field for decades. You cannot share medical information without a specific medical release form stating exactly what info can be shared with specific people during a specified time period. The emergency contact info can only be contacted if the patient is unable to communicate on their own. There have been cases where a patient left our office by ambulance, we needed patients verbal consent to let them know of the ambulance ride and which hospital. However, we were not able to share any details without that specific form being completed. This consent to communication form was provided to patients at the first office/hospital visit and needed to be signed/reviewed at regular intervals. I was surprised that a lot of patients refused to sign the form. But there you have it. I do agree that if the patient gave verbal consent to notify her family of her transfer to hospital, they should have been called. We don’t know if the patients was asked and/or whether she granted this permission.
My wife works in a hospital here in Canada and because of patient confidentiality anyone calling about a patient in their department they don’t give information but if the person calling is the patient next of kin or emergency contact and their name is on their chart they will give info. If the patient is conscious & aware they ask the patient first. if patient is not conscious they will only give the NOK or emergency contact information.
All of my Drs make me sign the hippa for on evey visit. Its mainly to share info with your insirance company and whoever you pick as "next of kin " to share info and for secondary consent for treatments that you may not be able to consent to since you are unconcious. Thats all. It is against Federal Law to give info to anyone else.
It all depends on the privacy laws on the country . The cruise line, I believe is registered in the Bahamas, and operates under their laws. The hospitals were in yet another country.
Would the cruise ship fall under HIPAA laws? I wouldn’t think so as they aren’t practicing in the medical field. As a cruiser I would assume that my emergency contact would be notified in any kind of emergency. Missing the ship, the contact should be notified. 😢 my mom had signed all sorts of papers so I could assist her with her care when she was going thru cancer treatments.
Congrats Tony on 250k! We have been watching since summer 2021, you helped us get ready for our first cruise of the great restart in August 2021, and have been hooked ever since. Keeping doing an amazing job like you do!
Congratulations on hitting that huge milestone! The cruise news has been crazy this week. Thanks for keeping up with it all and keeping us informed. Also love your humor, your shoutouts to Ludicris, and your singing! Keep the music going for the next 250 thousand!
Congrats! I'll have to tell my wife about that Manhunt show. She likes that kind of shows. I've been to Lincoln's house in Springfield, and it was really moving to know someone like him actually lived there. Thanks!
I'm with you Tony. When I provide an emergency contact, to me I'm giving consent to contact that person regardless of the circumstances. Even if NCL didn't feel authorized to divulge medical info, they still should have let the emergency contact know that the person was left in medical care at the port and provided contact info. Fortunate that the family was monitoring their loved one's location and a blessing from the other stranded passengers in that they were able to help this poor lady. NCL dropped the ball.
I know my mother-in-law would state quite emphatically not to call her family if this happened to her. She has been in the hospital several times without letting any of us know. I call her 2-3 times a week and she will tell me after the fact.
To me calling the emergency contact to tell them she did not get back on the ship is an emergency. Medical or not. What if you were kidnapped, lost , etc? They should have called them.
Congrats on the big milestone! 250K is legit and awesome! 🎉 Been watching for years and love the format and information. All the best to you and the lovely Jenny B! ☺️
Hey! I'm new and haven't commented. I've been watching a lot of your videos because I'm saving for my first cruise and got interested in your videos. I like being very well informed and prepared, so I always research a topic a lot before I dive in to say. I hope to go to Alaska with my husband, it's a dream vacation for us. Being disabled and traveling can be nerve-wracking, but I'm happy to know more all the time. Also it's fun to imagine I'm on the various vacations I see others on. Also saw about the comic con cruise. I hope you have fun! Congratulations on 250k subscribers!🎉
Congratulations Tony on 250K viewers! I found you through Don, and I've been watching you both since before Covid. You got a lot of us through that very difficult time! Cheers to many more years!
Just did another cruise line in February. We took our 40oz refillable bottles and filled them up at stations around the ship. Also provided either sparkling or still water in the cabin. Carnival wants to monetize and squeeze everyone for everything. I know it’s not a charity, but it’s getting to a very annoying point for me. Our cruise dollars aren’t going to Carnival at the moment. Cruise lines don’t care about the older cruiser. They want new cruisers. That’s not a secret. Congrats on 250k!
Last time I was on Carnival, last September; the food was awful! Especially the buffet (yuck) and the upgraded steak filet dinner, and mostly everything else. I had never had rubber filet before this cruise and I paid extra for it. I didn’t complain because the servers were the best I’ve ever had on any ship. But….Carnival better get back on track with their food, and stop finding ways to Nickel & dime us to death, or no one will be bothering to book with them anymore. We only go on carnival because it’s cheap and fun. Lots of Lines are fun and have great food. If Carnival takes cheap out of the equation, we will be saying goodbye for good. 🤷🏻♀️ PS really love your channel! I’m glad I found you again. I was somehow, magically, Unsubscribed awhile back 👍
You are so much a part of my day that today a very busy day it felt incomplete until I finally had a chance to watch! Congratulations on another milestone 👏
Congratulations Tony! So happy to see you hit 250k! Love your channel! Found you during Covid and was instantly hooked! Watching channels like yours, Don, Matt, Dee & Jay, Ben & David and so many more got us started on our cruising adventures.
My wife and I have been with you since you were at about 12,500 subscribers. Very proud of your channel's growth and happy you (and Jenny B) were able to turn this into a profitable full-time job for you!

Same here… Well put.
Do what you can do while you can do it please....
Doctors have a saying, "If you've met one 80 year old, you've met one 80 year old". In other words, everyone ages differently
True, and anyone can have a medical emergency at any time.

There are some 25 year olds who can't hardly walk. Horrible health! I do believe that a person needs to be ,"fit to travel". With reasonable accommodations.
I agree, they can't start discriminate according to age. My mother is 90 years old and in better health than a lot of younger ones.
Amen! You go on!
I am a 70-year-old cruiser, a solo female cruiser. I will continue to cruise solo but I am smart
enough to understand what I need to do in certain situations.
The moral of this story seems to not travel Norwegian. If something bad happens, they will not contact your family.
That's fine if you're conscious and capable. What happens if you're not? I'm not at all saying don't cruise. I'm saying the ship needs to have something in place to let them know they CAN contact those who you've designated in case you can't do it at the time.

"Its not like we have 70 or 80 year olds running the country" comment made me laugh out loud. Entertaining and informative as always.
Tony did that well! Kudos , Tony.
It got me too 😂
I laughed out loud myself!😂😂🤣🤣
Me too!!!
Great show. Interesting info. Waternorice doesn’t bother me as I just use their regular water. Also burbon is better.

The hospital did clear her in the end and she did return to the cruise but she was severely impacted.
😳
If you had several strokes, how can you be cleared to go back on the cruise. That makes zero sense.
Mini strokes are different than the kind of stroke that debilitates you. Simply put, they are small short interruptions in blood flow in the brain. @@catherineyagecic416 Exactly, wife of hubby that has numerous mini strokes.
Wow what a nightmare. Sorry that happened

Congrats Tony for 250K! Super exciting!
250K!!! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN BOUT!!!!🎉 🥳 ❤
Congratulations, Tony & Co. Hard earned and well deserved.
