So in India people don't do that much level of scam what I faced in Karachi. In fact, I noticed that most of the Indians very peaceful people. I think only poor people do scam. Nowadays I live in Pune and I have observed myself getting changed. Because of lack of same collective efforts here in Pune, people throw waste anywhere but something form Inside of me stops me to throw the litter in an open. Yup i am from indore and we take pride in our city's cleanliness.
In 2015 we were ranked 125th in the country in terms of cleanliness. Our mayor was so disappointed that she took it as a misson to clean up. Even i felt really bad. Slowly this misson of the mayor became the misson of the citizens.
Next year we jumped 100 places and came in 25th. If we can do so much in 1 year what can we do in two? Yup in 2017 we came first and then never looked back.
We have one of the highest quality segregation of drt and wet waste in the world. In euopre the average quality of segregation is 85-90% but in indore we have 98% segregation.
All the wet waste ie vegetable, fruits, flowers etc are all decomposed and turned into bio gas which is used to run city busses.
Dry waste is furthur segregated into 6 categories at sorting centers. Metals, construction waste, electronic waste, paper and plastics are sold for recycling.
After all the sorting only 4-5% of the generated waste ends up in landfills.
We are also the first water plus city in the country
That is no sewage water is allowed to flow in the nature untreated. Every bit of sewage is treated before either reusing the water for washing and watering olants etc or it is released in the river but since it is treated it does not pollute the river as much.
We have also banned use of coal/wood for heating in induatrial boilers. Its all either natural gas or electricity which is much less polluting.
Now the next mission is that 30% of households should jave rooftop solar in next 5 years.
The way the people here havw united for a common good is a lesson for other cities. No Government alone can achieve this. It's the coorporation of people, the people understanding what is good for them and doing there part is the msot important thing.

It's so good to see foreigners exploring indore. Indore is a must visit if you love Indian food. I hope you have visited Chappan in Indore as well! It's a street which originally had 56 food shops. It's just the best. I saw you visited Sarafa, but the most apt time is after 9pm at night. You can access more shops and different variety of food. Also, the street food at meghdoot, the one with momos, is a very famous choupati!

It's definitely the citizens and administration partnership in keeping the city clean. People in Indore have a sense of pride and attachment with the city. The trait people in Delhi , Mumbai don't have, most people are outsiders. So that's that. Indore don't get too many tourists. So maybe forgive them for anything that might be bad

Malai means cream . And you should try momos it's so famous all over India, and Street foods in Kolkata have been voted the best specially the fuchka , ghoogni , and Indo-chinese foods (momos, chawmin, Manchurian, chili Chicken, fried rice, kathi roll etc) , and lot of sweets as Kolkata (West Bengal) known for its Verity of sweets (famous for cheez sweets , made out of chhana like sondesh ,rosgolla etc... I mean it's unstoppable options ) . This city in the top 10 in the world for street food. It's not just the food but also the emotion, history,PPL connect with the foods makes it best .

Nice vlog and as usual I’m surprised with the location. If possible, please prefer paying Uber autos with cash. Auto drivers get paid by Uber weekly and that is difficult for them to manage if they are very poor. Malai is thin white layer of coconut surrounding the water inside. Lastly, I don’t think that kulcha is overpriced. It takes a lot of effort to make and 100 for 2 is reasonable. The cost for them in proper restaurants would be significantly more. I’m very happy that you are loving Indian food.

I have a question.. in australia, do you guys have all food without chilly? Or are they not spicy at all? In India, the ones that you address as spicy are actually normal and we have to even insist these vendors to add more chilly since they keep the spicy flavor to the lowest. Lol.

    • @josieliftsthings
      @josieliftsthings  Год назад +7

In Australia, we use a lot of seasonings and herbs, but the palette is more sweet, sour and savoury rather than spicy/chilly. If we do have chilly it’s usualy like hot sauce or sriracha, a different type of burn really ☺️

Thank you for visiting India's cleanest city, Indore. Hope you had a great time. As an Indori, I apologise on behalf of some auto drivers who charged you slightly more than the normal fare. They overcharge other Indian citizens too who are new to the city and are unaware about normal fare. So whenever you are travelling anywhere in India I will suggest you to check with local people about fares before getting into any taxi or auto. Kindly, do visit the city again as there's still a lot to explore :)
