Thanks buddy!!! You are the only one who gave both models, NCQ1338 & XC155AX, how to setup! I had so much hard time to find where the pass through on my155AX 😅
Thank you for a very good video to install my router to my Verizon Gateway. It was a step by step video that I could follow and got me connected. Thank you and keep up the good work
Thanks for your information about the "IP Passthrough" option to make the Verizon Home Internet work as a modem instead of a router. It took some time to find the settings based on concept that you provided in this video. When I found it, I was able to make the change and it functions perfectly. Best to make your own notes on how to navigate the menu, place the notes in the box for future reference if needed again. As in your video, this only works when you use the Port 2, (Port 1 becomes an unusable port). I believe the only way to get remove the "IP Passthrough" option would be to default the modem back to factory settings. The online manual would be the resource to do that. The "IP Passthrough" is not available from T-Mobile Home internet unless you use a third party modem with that service.
What does doing this accomplish? I’m currently having issues with my Verizon 5g, ps4 always tells me I have latency issues and packet loss among other issues
I hit IP passthrough for the gateway on wifi. now I can’t get back in the network settings because the wifi was turned off. Do I just plug in the ethernet from lan2 to my laptop?
I have the newer ASC version of the Cube but am using the ASUS router. I have fallowed the steps, but I get no internet at the router. The light on the ASUS shows a connection to the Cube. I have tried resetting the Cube to factory settings and going through the steps again but still no outside world. I can ping boxes including the Cube on the ASUS router. The cube works as a standalone box just fine, so I know it is getting internet and works with Wifi. I have taken screenshots of the setup if that would help. Thank you for any help in this matter.
I would log in to Asus and make sure it has received a proper public IP address for its WAN interface. If there's an issue with the WAN/Internet connection, Asus usually provides an error message in the Internet status section. That's where I would start the troubleshooting.
When I turn on ip pass through my other router can’t find an internet connection or show an ip and makes the internet unusable but I can still go on my Linksys ip admin website
Great Video!!! I have a ARC model. I followed each step but it freezes on “Applying Settings” after I checked on and save settings. Can I get help PLEASE get some help 🙏🏼
When you save the setting the device is no longer a router and it will reboot, that's why you think it freezes! You just need to connect your router to it and setup your router
You will know you were successful enabling Passthrough, after you reboot the modem, the front indicator light will light up solid green instead of white.
You should first do some troubleshooting and basically pin point what is causing the issue, I really doubt it is the passthrough mode. It could be your mesh network because a mesh network if not configured correctly can back fire and make things even worse. This video might be helpful: ruclips.net/video/nJ73NFHXJZo/видео.html
I just received the LTE Gateway and followed your instruction on configuring pass through. However, after plugging my router into LAN port 2 the led on the gateway stays amber not white and I am unable to get out to the internet.
The trouble with your video is that I can't find an "IP Passthrough" option for my Verizon 5g modem/wifi router (model WNC-CR200A). After moving around, I was able to find the "IP Passthrough"; however, now I cannot get to the verizon 5g modem/wifi router web browser interface. I was able to use the ethernet port 2 to go to the internet, but if I connect to the ethernet port 1, I have no internet and I am not able to get to web browser interface of verizon 5g modem/router. I'd appreciate any help since Verizon is not helping with this issue. If I'm not able to resolve this problem, I will have to return the verizon 5g gateway which I would like to keep since my current internet service got to be too expensive. Help would be appreciated. Thank you.🤔
i have motorola mg8702 modem router combo - no WAN as expected only 4 LAN port. Can I still use it to connect to the Gateway? and if so, do I plug it in one of the LAN ports?
You might be able to add it as an Access Point, it's a a bit tricky and will depend if you can turn it to an AP or not. If so you don't need to use IP Passthrough on the Verizon Gateway because you need to have a router in your network.
If I am using IP Passthrough, can I change the setting of the modem without reseting it? I had an experience with bridge in which the only way to access the modem ia to reset it... at least the easiest way
so I was enabling Ip passthrough and wanted to use my AX router and it was actually giving me slower speeds.. I tried everything. Not sure what the hell is going on.
So I have my devices in my living room to where I connect them hardwired via a hub but the gateway and computer is in my studio room. Is there a way to get a wireless router to where it will connect to the gateway from the other room without the need to connect them together? Essentially I want the wireless router to connect to the gateway device wirelessly. Then I can connect my devices hardwired to the wireless router.
If you want to connect your wireless router wirelessly to the Verizon 5g gateway, then you should change the wireless router's operation mode and use it as a repeater or a media bridge (if the wireless router is capable). Unfortunately as a wireless router such a thing is not possible. Thanks.
@@Behfor Thanks. Like with optimum, they have the extender with a LAN port. Which then I connect with my hub that has all the devices hardwired. The extender connects wirelessly to the router. But I am switching to Verizon. What I bought now is 2 eero devices so I can use one as the new gateway and the other in the living room. Let's see.
I wonder if it's possible to connect the Cube to an auxiliary LAN port, like the 2.5G port, and make it function as a redundant WAN source as a failover, kinda like how you can use a USB port on the router to act as WAN modem device from android tethering
What do you mean for tethering? Like I do with my cellphone? You can do it with the cube? I'm just seeking the best settings and process of connection.. what's the true benefit of just connecting a different router? Is it faster?😊
How do you turn back on the Verizon 5G wireless after you have enabled IP passthrough in case one changes their mind and wants to use the Verizon 5G as the router?
You can either use WiFi and connect your TV to the WiFi provided by the cube or use a wired connection (Ethernet cable) to connect the TV to one of the Ethernet ports on the cube, given that your TV has an Ethernet port too.
I recently had to disable the IP Passthrough. I understand I must connect a computer to LAN 1 port. However, I used my desktop PC ethernet connection to the gateway, which goes through 2 switches before the gateway. I thought this would work. It didn't. So, I did a reset on the gateway. Could this have something to do with connecting to LAN 1 through switches versus directly connecting?
I'm not sure why you are connecting the computer to the LAN1 on Verizon gateway after you have setup IP passthrough!! You should connect your computer to the router which is connected to LAN2. LAN1 as mentioned in the video will not provide internet access when IP passthrough is enabled.
@Behfor I wasn't referring to internet connection. I was referring to disabling IP Passthrough. Per Verizon, disabling IP Passthrough requires using LAN 1. Once IP Passthrough is enabled, I can't disable it using either port. However, Verizon says to connect ethernet directly from a laptop or PC using ethernet from the computer to LAN 1 to disable it. However, I tried going from PC to the gateway through two switches. Perhaps the switches are causing a problem back to the gateway from the PC, and it is not considered a direct connection. However, it is more convenient if it works. I was curious if you might have an idea. Thanks!
I see. Well you can try to ping the Verizon gateway and see if it is successful or not, also make sure the computer has received an IP address because the DHCP server is disabled on the Verizon gateway so you might have to assign a static IP to the computer. Finally when you are connected to your network (NOT directly to Lan1 on Verizon gateway) You should still be able to access the Verizon gateway. So for example when I need to make any changes on the Verizon gateway (when IP passthrough is enabled), I just simply enter it's IP address in my browser and I can connect and I don't need to directly connect my computer to LAN1. I hope that can help.
@Behfor Thanks for the reply! I'm still in the 30-day trial, and I'm likely going to return it anyway. My biggest problem is connecting to my work VPN. Without VPN, I get up to the 300 Mbps download routinely. When connected to VPN, it drops to a best of 5 Mbps. My WOW internet only drops to 200 Mbps from 500. I've read other users of Verizon 5G Home having the same problem and have not had any success with improving.
I’m scared to cut off my Cox Internet, giga, blast, unlimited data, and all the HBO and all the stars channels because my Internet is very strong and fast, but I pay $246 a month but I have strong Internet if I get Verizon Wi-Fi Internet unlimited 5G I’ve been watching a lot of RUclips videos about Verizon Internet and it seems like a lot of people have lots of problems with it buffering so I will just stay happily with my Internet I have your so pay a lot of money but to me it’s worth it because I play Grand Theft Auto 5 Online all the time with my friends and I have to have strong Internet
I followed these steps and adjusted my mtu size on my router (to 1428 recommended by verison) i see the modem has the setting for mtu size i could adjust should i set that to the same mtu size as the router or does it really matter? Its stock at 1500
Leave it at 1428. You will see a difference in speed when connected to a vpn. Very little slow down in speed when mtu size is 1428. Anything outside of that you risk packet fragmentation which can drive up latency because the packets have to be split in half then put back together which takes longer to do when fragmentation occurs.
Wow!You thoroughly explained in less than three minutes what one “expert” was trying to express in his 15 minutes video. Thank you. Best wishes. 👌🏾

Yes, now it's like this, but 2 years ago, when its firmware was totally different than what it is now, it didn't behave that way.
Thank you. Very helpful

On my Orbi modem/router, it doesn't have the WAN port, may I connect to one of the 4 Ethernet ports?
Your orbi router definitely has a WAN/Internet port, otherwise it wouldn't be a router. The orbi satellites though don't have WAN ports

You just log back in and turn the IP passthrough off. Or you just do a factory reset and do the setup from the beginning.

When you enable IP passthrough it will disable what's not needed on the gateway.

How you revert it ?? Router to the 5g gateway
Factory reset
