    Excellent step-by-step video. Whoever would put a thumbs down to this must just be plain 'ole haters, or people who have no business assembling anything beyond Legos.

      Thanks for the comment. This rigging stuff can be challenging to shoot, so comments like this tell us it's worth making for the DIY'er.

    Can you also put a tilt bracket on those mounts?

    Nice video but to be honest you should have this go through hook up to the main starter battery too..Then this would be a complete walk through.

    hi, can anyone tell if putting on a jackplate on my Lund 1750 XS rebel from 2017 is worth it?(smaller boat, no "pad" shaped hull), Honda 100 hp on there aswell, im in the market of putting on my tallon arm... that jackplate looks sexy thou.. to bad we cant get mh marine ATLAS here in sweden ..

      We've ran a variety of Lund Boats over the years here at W2F -- congrats on owning an excellent product. We usually reserve the use of jack plates to our bass boats (usually high horsepower) for better overall performance and shallow water running. You won't likely see a significant performance enhancement with a 100 hp unless you're running skinny water and desire more clearance from the bottom. Obviously attaching your Talon direct to the jack plate is desirable, but a direct to transom mount works excellent with Lund transoms. The Lund transom is plenty strong to mount a jack plate to should you decide to get one. Good luck!

      @@Wired2Fish lovely to hear, great bit of info right there for sure, yep will most likely be directly mounted between transom/enginemount, and skip jackplate / btw , while i have u here, does my Lund 1750 have the new type of transom Lund released to there bigger boats in 2017? , how do i tell? saw an video here on utube showing Lunds material change for there Transoms, would be nice to get rid of that pesky wood ;)

    Debating getting a talon. It would have been useful to see the alarm activation and extension.

    What is better - PowerPoles or Minn Kota? I noticed majority of basspro use Power Poles.

      Lots of guys up here in Ontario seem to run Talons. Power Poles drop back then down, while talons drop straight down. Not sure which is more secure.

      Power poles are much more reliable, easier to fix when they break, and much much quieter

      Yeah, I'm not sure if its the availability here in Canada. More dealers seem to carry Talons then Power Poles

      Power Poles were first to the market and got their product out to a lot of pros. They remain active in pro bass fishing, but Minn Kota has made a lot of gains. Both are excellent products in terms of function and durability. Here are some considerations:
      1) Hydraulic vs. electric. Power Poles are hydraulic, Talons electric. Both work well. Power Pole pumps (2) take up more space in the boat and are more intensive to install. Talons are powered by a simple 12V battery connection and don't occupy any boat storage.
      2) Lenght options. Power Poles come in lengths up to 10', Talons up to 15'. 10' Talons are below the height of most engines, so can fit in many garage door openings (9-10'), a tilt bracket accessory can be used as well to gain garage access.
      3) Quiet. I've listed to both underwater and it's a wash in my opinion. Talons can make noise if there's sediment in the internal housing, but it's usually an electric power sound. Power poles give off a hydraulic hum from the pumps.
      There's a lot of specs comparisons and the units operate quite differently for producing the same end result.

    With IPilot TM, when is a Talon necessary?
    Doesn't the TM anchor me on a spot?

    • @alan350z8
      @alan350z8 7 лет назад

      Lane Douglas yeah, that’s my thought exactly. The only thing is when you’re sight fishing in shallow water, you don’t want a trolling motor changing direction constantly, blowing out fish, to keep you in the same spot. That’s where a power pole/talon comes into play. But that’s a LOT of money just to be able to be still for only sight fishing! Haha

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  7 лет назад +1

      tall pine outdoors hit it. Talons come in 8, 10, 12, and 15' models. There's a lot of situations where you just want to be "pinned" to the bottom and off the trolling motor, primarily when spooking fish is the concern. We rely on Minn Kota's Spot-Lock function in water deeper than the extent of our Talon's - usually when fishing offshore for bass, walleye, and panfish. Another consideration is the convenience factor of the shallow water anchors. I rarely use ropes when docking the boat, just deploy the Talons.

      @lanedouglas2165 7 лет назад

      Wired2Fish not a strong justification, considering the price of Talons, but if your budget can handle both, I understand.

      Lane Douglas Hi Lane, all based on budget and an individual angler’s wants/needs.
