Yep had screws on the guide pads back out on me twice under warranty causing the scraping noise. Second fix seemed to work as they haven't backed out again over the last 4 years or so....I told em put some loctite on those things! Not sure if they did. Now I have to replace the spike piston because the magnets on the top of it rust out in saltwater....2nd time for that. I'm learning to repair it myself and from now on will pull the cover once in a while to clean and put some rust preventative on those magnets. When they fall out only the sensor bracket at the top stops it and you get an alarm. Then eventually the retract cable will break.
Apparently a screw did back out from the pad that rides in the track and it's scrapping the inside of the frame. Both talons are in the shop...I noticed on the other one the cable was fraying. Good thing they are under warranty.
Well I think your right a small rock or something it caught in there. It would bug the crap out if me and I'd take it apart but being new you probably have to let them do it. But at least they smell good until you figure it out. Maybe pledge will be a good attractant and you'll catch some toads? Cool vid 😎👌
I have an update in the description of this video, but long story short the pad that rides in the track is attached with a screw and apparently it did back out and is scrapping the inside of the housing. I noticed on the other one that the cable is fraying, so both of them are in the shop at the moment, lol
The only issue with the trolling motor was the plastic around one of the mounting screws broke, so I couldn't secure the foot pedal. I took it to a shop and long story short they had no idea what they were doing and jacked it all up, so minn kota sent out a new replacement trolling motor. The issue with the talons was the screws did back out and the shop that I went to said minn kota doesn't always loctite them and mine weren't, so they replaced the screws, added loctite and also my cables started fraying, so they replaced them as well. No more issues...love my talons!
@@TackleJunky81 would you say 12’ is an ok length to go with? I’m mostly bass fishing in less than 10’ but I know they have to go into the ground yet especially if the soil is soft bottom
@ 715 Outdoor like you said they may be a bit short in some areas, but should be good for the most part I'd think fishing shallow. I run 10' and rarely need anything longer.
Sorry to hear, hopefully you’ll get them back soon. Don’t own any talons so hopefully not a common problem. Still have your old anchor? Still think they were better going with then spotlock!
I sold my power pole with my bass tracker. I may of stuck with power poles if there was room for the pumps. For shallow water fishing anchors like power poles or talons is definitely the way to go. If I fished deeper then I would of went with a spot lock trolling motor.
Good day sir, new to the channel and so far enjoying the content you have put up, very informative. On the subject of your talons, and I apologize if I missed that update--did you ever get them back? How are they working for you now (assuming you still have them)?
ruclips.net/video/lOUf0Pljnb0/видео.html Appreciate you checking out the channel. They are working great now which you'll see in the above video. A few screws had backed out.
Do you or any viewer know the best way to get the Talon “spike” unstuck from the mud? I have a 12ft Talon on the rear of my Tritoon and while at the sandbar last year the Spike was entirely drove all the way into the mud lake bottom. I did eventually get it unstuck by pressing the up/down button but I was really worried about breaking something! I have hear a few people with Power Poles say they they put the engine in fwd/rvrs to gently rock the boat back & forth to get it free. Is that the best way to go with a Talon?? Other than that one little issue I love the Talon. I’m going to add another to the from of my boat soon because my Tritoon is SOooo heavy and putting one on the from will prevent the boat from swinging around in rough wakes. I’m an 100% guessing but I bet if you took your Talon off the boat and flipped it upside down I bet the debris will fall out through the top. I know that would be a pain to do tho. Lol Anyway Thanks Bro 😎 T

@@bassaddict_85 Love them. I was going to run power poles on this rig as well, but didn't have the space for pumps. That's one benefit to running talons. Also I like that you can lay them down with the tilt brackets. I plan to make a video on this topic.
@@TackleJunky81 great thank you so much for your input. I have a similar boat to yours just a different manufacturer and I don’t have a lot of room for pumps and stuff so sounds like Talons would be the better option. Thanks again appreciate your time

My talon has the exact same issue... definitely a screw that broke our backed out... i see an empty hole. I may try taking it apart on my own but im nervous. a minn kota tech i talked to said they are way harder to work on than a trolling motor... lol
Love your stuff, James, but I have no boat. Just wanted you to know I stopped by and clicked the thumbs up 👍
Much appreciated Shannon! 👊💪

Good vid TJ this is why I went with power poles for down here I felt the power poles are better for me ! hope they are working better for you

@@TackleJunky81 yes I know pumps are a problem
Just got my Raptors installed this past week so far so good. Getting them on the lake this weekend hopefully as long as the weather cooperates.

If you know you're fishing a soft bottom you can change the mode so it doesn't drive as far.
You should probably spray a little white lithium grease on the third track as a last option.

I pushed a rag with some pledge up into that rubber gasket. It seemed to work. No more noise
Right on! 👊
Hopefully you find out what it is that's scraping and it dosent ruin the unit. I'm sure those a pretty pricey. 👍🏻

It's the cable inside that is overlapping incorrectly.
