Ben was "producing" records cheap ($500) about 10 years ago. He did one for our dumb ramones-core band, the way we got in touch was that he had done one for the guys before I joined. He didn't remember he did that record and asked to hear some of our material before we got to work. He said the songs seemed alright but the sound sucked not knowing he was the one who produced it lol. Ben is a TOTAL asshole but he is unapologetically so, and somehow it's just endearing. He is one of the few guys capable of making music that remains true to his roots while still keeping it fresh and interesting. He's probably THE pop punk goat in that regard, perfectly stupid witty songs and easy but somehow fresh leads. Joe Queer was also "producing" cheap, he's fucking rad too. I'm sure they both still do it as a side hustle lol.
Enemies, Brain Hurts, Boogada, Anthem, Wiggle, TVCD, Major Label, Kill the musicians, Formula 27, Bark Like a Dog, Atavism, These Ones Are Bitter - all classics.
He made a movie about gay punk rock vampires called "disgusteen". It was super terrible and worth watching at least once if you like bad acting and cringe. The best part of the movie is they have crimpshrine on the soundtrack and there really isnt any other redeeming qualities
Great job once again, I’m a huge fan of the weasels and Ben being Ben resulted on this iconic band. I got to see them pre and post the infamous incident and must say that during that period I witnessed many people that were at shows clearly to antagonize Ben, of course he was bound to lose his cool…

This is an interesting look back. I knew Ben in the mid to late 2000’s and he was a real nice guy. Then he developed an online fan base of sycophants who encouraged his worst behavior. He also got into Christianity and right wing politics around then and it’s been sad to watch him spiral since then.

Love Screeching Weasel. One of my favourite bands. It's a shame that though Ben seems like a really intelligent dude, he's ignorant about the continent he lives on. And the world, apparently.

I'm kinda already there. Feels bad, man.

Anyone remember his column in MRR? Him Jumpin Jeff Bale and Rev Norb were the only ones with personality. (Christine comes in 4th)

Ben's rant about Fat Mike whining about not getting something for free at a bowling alley is something else.

Love these videos. You should do a Reverend Horton Heat one.
Ben let my band stay at his house on tour around 87 or 88. I got crabs from his couch. Or maybe I left crabs on his couch.
