To also add to a couple comments here, YES you want matching batteries very close to the same age and charged to the same charge before wiring in series. If not you can have voltage drop from one battery to the other as they try to balance out. With different batteries the chemistry will not be the same and you can run into some major issues there as well.
if you dont mind . What is the battery model numbers so I can see the amp hours ? I have a 14' jon boat with a 24v minn kota and going by the minn kota web site I need like 100 amp hours and 180 minutes of reserve capacity to get 1.75 hrs of 100% run time. With three batteries I am at 165lbs with three batteries. Two batteries for trolling motor and one battery for accessories. Also what is your run time, or time on water before you recharge?
Once you bridge those batteries into series everything hooked to them is getting 24V. You either run parallel and double the amp hour at 12V or your in series and the amp hour stays the same but your voltage goes to 24V. I’d made sure anything else you have hooked to those batteries is 24v capable if not you Can have some serious electronics issues.
Dude, I’m no scientist myself but I don’t have my trolling motor (Ultrex) hooked up any other way than what you did bro but I do have my electronics on a separate lithium battery so you might want to check on that before you run your LS like that

how do you connect charging?

Everything still working good wired up this way? I wanted to do the same but worry about my 12v accessories getting damaged
Yeah, no problems at all
Nice. The old battery is connected to everything including the motor?
Can someone show a simple how to video on a 24v trolling motor hookup to one 24v battery hookup with nothing else but a circuit breaker?
Does the Jumper cable have to be Black or Red?
Makes no difference. Color of sheathing is to help identify power vs ground vs accessory. It’s all copper wire under the sheathing.
does it matter that you mixed battery brands and age ?
No it doesn’t
@@DudeLetsFish Roger I've heard conflicting reports about that and really didn't want to buy new ones.
Did you change battery charger?
Nope, still the same one
So how did you wire it to charge 2 batteries
@@markmifsud4044 it’s a 3 bank charger
Ok thanks

I’ve been running it for a while with no problems… they both read 12.6v
