But best recommend to have separate tanks for male Beta fish and not putting them in the same tank together as they are notorious for fighting against each other resulting in one of them to be instantly killed.
We learned that hard way... They ripped each others tail fins off. We didn't know that could happen the pet shop never told us anything...actually they didn't know anything about an animals they sold, my hometown businesses was inexperienced back then in 90s.
beta fish vs SIGMA FISH!!!
Too bad there aren't any videos of them fighting. Always wanted to know what that looked like
@@_HaxorusLover_ They’re known to be Asian fighter fish!
@@_HaxorusLover_Always do research before buying animals
Other things you should know about the care:
-you should only keep them alone(there are exceptilns, do your research)
-always cycle the tank and learn about the nitrate cycle
-feed variety of foods such as flakes or frozen foods
-long fin bettas often have trouble swimming, you might cosider getting a female or a short finned betta
-for plantet tanks you need your light on a timer for 8 hours, and a nutrient sibstrate like aquasoil
-you should get a water test kit for ammonia nitrate and nitrite
-plants have other benefits, they filter the water from waste and oxygenate it
-if you get a bigger tank like 10/15 gallons and have lots of plants and floaters you wont have to do as much maintenance like gravel vaccing and water changes
Bettas are great hardy fish and they need a lot more than bowls or vases to thrive
btw you don't NEED to cap aquasoil
Didn't know they had all that Luxury in the wild
THANK YOU for recommending proper care for these guys! Too many people keep them in bowls, vases, or cups. They need more!
They are SO GORGEOUS like the Disney Princess of fish🥰 LOVE 2 see these tanks! I HATE seeing these beautiful creatures kept for LIFE in 4in containers🥹💖
Actually the colorful ones are males who are highly aggressive
@Im_leaving Thx! I understand why they're kept solitary however, these larger, decorated tanks offer enrichment, unlike the tiny jails I normally see them in 😏
they will however not hesitate against eating other fish
I’ve had so many betta fish over the years. My house feels empty without a fish tank.
Nemo had a stint in vegas i see 😂
I had one for years❤ I loved him so much. He jumped excitedly whenever he saw me❤ I miss you buddy❤
Yes but remember long fined bettas will have trouble swimming when they get older so it’s best to buy a short fined ones! (Also keep them in separate tanks, they are very aggressive)
I took care of a betta fish not too long ago! I don’t remember if it was a girl or boy though! This family also had a red caped conure bird, two dogs, one glow fish, two guppies and a rare blue lobster!
They’re lovely little companions, and very friendly.
Rip my baby Pierre♥️ he was my good little black orchid betta for 4 years
They also can have tank mates (can depend on their temperament as an individual) fish that are bland in color with small short simple fins work better typically.
Miss my little betta, he was so curious and active, and would always swim up to me when i walked by. It was so much fun to play with him, and watch him swim around.
Unfortunately he had gotten fin melt, and we couldn't figure out what was wrong with him until after he had already died. He died on Christmas 2023, and it was devastating..
We've turned his tank into a shrimp tank now, but i have considered getting another betta because they're just so much fun. Though i highly encouraged anyone who wants one to do tons of research before getting one!
My betta killed 3 guppies today 💀
Typical Betta behavior
💀💀 at least you won't have overpopulation guppies breed like crazy
Op forgot to mention that fish are a$$holes
LOL 😅
@@redhidinghood9337 actually i am breeding em 🤣 ( but i have another aquarium for frys ) my betta have a 2 and half feet tank with 7 guppies out of which he killed 3 today !! 💀
my brother used to have a betta fish, his fish was named Fin fin. Fin fin was a great fish.❤🐠
Love them so much, wonderful!🥹❤️❤️😍😍
Gifted one to my mother for her birthday 2 years ago and now it's got a lot of tiny little friends as well! Beautiful fish :)
Gods i love bettas! I used to have a bunch of them!
That’s Amazing!🤩
Thank you! ❤️
got super interested in betta or fighting fish after watching the dahmer series on Netflix
I want a fish but I would need room for a big enough tank, and while a fish bowl is small it’s cruel. It doesn’t even have room for a proper filter
You can hand feed them too
Yep!
Bettamin is shaped like tiny sticks. If you hold one end right above the water they’ll swim up and take it right out of your hand.
cool!!!
my beta was a beautiful blue. he lasted 2 years! he was so cool
I had a beta fish and she died in 2022. Her name was Linda and she lived for a year and some months. I miss her 😭
Remember folks, these "fighting" fish are only bred for ornamental purposes. The can't swim properly because of those long exagerated fins...... It is like breeding horses with extreme short legs because you think it's looks cool. Fish wouldn't survive a day in the wild with those fins and colours. Would survive a fight with a 'real' Betta ( Plakat Thai) or a wild caught Betta.....
do part 2 betta facts
No they are not good first time pets. They need more space.
Great first time pet might be a bit of an overstatement. A lot of fish require a lot more maitnence than you would think if you want them to actually have a good life. That being said if you do actually care for the fish, they are awesome
Are used to have a betta fish myself when I was younger, And you left out one fact about them their territory meaning if you have more than one betta they’ll fight each other.
Notice how he put it in a damn 10 gallon aquarium lol
I used to play tag with them. can be very social with you and they’d let me pet em too.. I’ve seen people teach them to swim through hoops
“Great starting pets” when they require more time, money, and attention than most pets 💀💀
I have 2
bettas LIKE SPACE don't stuff one in a 3 gallon with no filter or real plants
A Betta fish is like a starter pack for new fish owners 👍
I had a beta fish once, two different colors, one decided to kill it
As someone who has owned beta fish for I'd say 4 years, I never knew they breath from the surface, also cute story, one would get extremely energetic and lively when my grandma came up to see him, she would sing to him, and it got even more lively!
How would a fish sing???
@@ridefree9160 my Granda sang, not the fish
My dad used to be a pro betta fish breeder
I highly recommend to keep em alone, they are too aggressive for community tanks or if anyone accidentaly pick a calm betta, then it's still not community fish because it can be stressed by living with other fish and by stress it will die sooner than it should.
Careful when putting 2 betas together, betas are aggressive with other beta fish. Also betas are known to jump out of their tanks.
I’ve killed way too many of these things in my childhood… haven’t had a fish since
BET-TA, not BETA. God damn it.
I used to have a beta fish when I was six but it passed away
They are extremely aggressive and in a lot of their natural habitat they are caught and used as fighting fish but aye most of these RUclips channels never give proper information
I have one...major personality they have
"BET-uh," not "bay-tuh."
Very interesting
I only keep sigma fish
In the Philippines we call this fighting fish 😅
Most of this info is good, but the video example clips are showing A LOT of rimless tanks without lids (seeing those gives me anxiety because a LOT of bettas have lost their lives jumping out of such tanks by accident)... some with the water filled quite near the top of the rim such that there would not be enough of a glass barrier to keep a betta safely contained if it were to jump. KEEP A LID ON YOUR BETTA TANKS, or find another way to ensure they can't accidently jump out (fine mesh netting can work in cases where a lid is not possible). Also you didn't mention the importance of having a heater (they need tropical water temperatures and preferably the temperature should be kept relatively stable without large or frequent fluctuations). Only time a heater may not be necessary is if the water can remain at their ideal temperature ranges such as for someone living in a tropical region/countries where bettas originate from or similar.
I have that! But he is a baby.
I got a Beta fish. But will I be able to hold it without it?Trying to bite me
The males will tear their fins on almost anything that isn't really soft. They get fin rot easily and it's just not humane for average owners to keep them at all. Mostly because pet stores have taught people that it's okay to keep them in a cup when it really isn't. And no they aren't calm if you have any more than one at a time. Whoever made this video can't even teach the AI voice to pronounce betta correctly.
aka Siamese Foghting Fish. The males will fight to death hence they are used in "sport" in Asia and big bets are placed on the fights.
betas require just as much space as any other fish. Just because it can survive doesn’t mean it should. I’m glad this video showed examples with plenty of space
Bullcrap, they are not easy first fish. It requires a lot of care. Don't fall for it
I once had a beta fish and he loved to eat escargot. Literally, there were too many snails breeding in the one tank (they’re asexual so reproduction is never an issue), so my ex would peel back the shell of the snails, and feed the beta the meat. 🐌🚫🐠
And somehow my little sibling killed their fish.. smh
Guys I got a 60L tank how much female betta should I put in there??
1 tank 1 betta fish, even the female can be very agressive to other betta fish.
Except if they get thin rot, your completely screwed that will never cure and it always keep coming back. You could do everything you’re fucked.
I need help w/ my betta 😢 my water is so milky I have a filter it's a new tank
Don't live long enough
calm ☠️
