Sigh. This story was wonderful. The simple fact that those 2 americans didn't recognize her probably made that day very enjoyable for her. She was a good person.
Yes she was a good person, all her life she has been . Despite some stupid and ridiculous stories about her . There are always going to be people who do not like others for one reason or another. But the Queen has many people in this world who know and realise how well she has done all her life in leading many nations. Even at 96 two days before her own death still working. I'm Brazilian, and in the 19th century we had an emperor called Pedro II. He once travelled to America to enjoy its 100 years of independence, and one of his greatest moments in life was walking among people and be treated like an ordinary man, because no one knew who he was. Except for politicians, he always identified himself just as "Pedro de Alcantara".
This is such a great story! As an American, I can’t say that I would have recognized her either if she was just out on a walk. The only pictures we would see of Her Majesty were those where she was dressed in her bright color dresses and hats. I imagine on this outing she was dressed as a lovely grandmother, but not to the nines. I think I would have liked her though.

I've never given two thoughts about the queen or the royal family but this is a great story and what sounds like a wonderful lady. What a great sense of humor.
It really bothers me when I read the attacks on her even moments after her death. It sickens me. Even IF she was flawed, there is a lack of class and intelligence in people who would peck away at a dead old woman.
Or any normal deceased person for that matter... the exception being criminals who can't escape this courtesy because history is there for us to learn from and be better.
Her appearance has changed quite a bit over the years. Besides, her picture didn't appear in the papers or on TV very frequently, and when it did it was often archival footage, so people-especially foreigners-could be forgiven for not recognizing her in person.
@@petep.2092privately she was very down key. On holiday in Scotland she used to drive a mundane Morris Minor Traveler. Her daughter, the princess royal is much the same.
Queen Elizabeth the definition of class. The genuine love of others for this lovely lady, her royal majesty is a living testament to her grace. May she be engraved by God’s love and forgiveness.
How was there not more armed security detail with her on such a walk that two strangers could approach her like that? Was it only this one gentleman, presumably armed as the Queen's Policeman? But he said he was caught off guard by that American who put his hands on his shoulders to suddenly take a picture? That would be unthinkable with most Royalty in other parts of the world. If they didn't meet these strangers, I wouldn't have wondered.
