In just a few years, Marcus Sharf has grown his sneaker business, Hyp Miami, from a side-hustle into a go-to destination for shoe collectors that brings in a 7-figure yearly revenue. He’ll share how to start a sneaker reselling business in this episode.
Like many teens, Marcus’ parents wanted him to get a job when he turned 14. He started selling things from around their house to finance his sneaker collection. After he sold his first pair of Nikes for $300, he realized this could be more than a hobby-and Hyp Miami was born.
Hyp Miami started as an online business, opening its first brick-and-mortar store in 2022. Marcus will share how he connected with customers to grow his online sales, and his unique strategies for building buzz around his brand.
We’ll also hear how he used those profits to open up his retail store and the challenges of pivoting from online-only to a brick-and-mortar. Maybe the most impressive thing: Marcus built this business while still in college. We’ll learn how he managed his time to balance school with being an entrepreneur and what systems he’s put in place to keep both his stores and his online wholesale business running smoothly.
Getting your hands on rare new sneakers can be a challenge in and of itself. Marcus will explain his strategy to securing this in-demand inventory, both from online vendors and at sneaker conventions. Negotiation skills are a big part of his success, and he’ll talk about how he learned those and his advice for other aspiring entrepreneurs who want to become better negotiators.

No hate on the kid, but his dad (Roman Sharf) has a company in the watch industry that generates $150,000,000+ a year. I only state this because you said in the beginning "no silver spoon and no trustfund." Now you have the facts.

Absolutely, I see where you're coming from. It may seem like he had an unfair advantage, but he genuinely paved his own path to success. Many in his position choose to do nothing.
Ultimately, the key question is, did he offer real value? What do you think? We’re only inviting guests who do offer value.

“No silver spoon, no trust fund.”
Kind of odd to say that right at the start when his father, as others pointed out, is Roman Sharf who founded a luxury watch company and is worth over $100 million dollars…. This is worth repeating since it gives him a huge leg up, connections to suppliers, mentorship etc…
Not trying to hate either, go him! But also let’s be realistic. He most likely isn’t as self made as he makes himself out to be.

    • @UpFlip

No hate, either. We appreciate all comments and feedback. While it's common knowledge that he's the son of a millionaire, we can't ignore the hard work he's been putting into his business. We do have mad respect for the kid. 🙌
