I love Maxx isn't the type to pretend to be some "alpha bro" bull💩. Doesn't talk cliché, nonsensical hustle culture nonsense. Has doubts, shows vulnerabilities and figures it out. Admits mistakes and learns. Solid dude.
Watching from Australia and I’m so inspired. In my 50’s and starting a t-shirt side gig. Got tired of life passing me by so I thought, fuck it, I’m going to give this a crack. 6 weeks since going live and no sales but I’m prepared to give my everything for at least 5 years. Wish me luck 👍🏻👍🏻
I think one of the most important things from the video is that this business was not his first rodeo, he was involved with many business ideas with varying successes or failures, he also used the skills he learned from his other side hustles to grow his 'jackpot' project/business.
I liked what he said about not being afraid of larger companies. As competition increases in my space, I am not afraid because larger companies can't offer personalized care like we do. Bigger companies can't execute as good as smaller companies.
I agree. The future is going to consist of all these "micro" brands that hyper focus on one thing. Especially when so much is being artificially created now and days. I much rather go to a family owned farm that can tell me all of their beef is grass fed and properly cared for than lab meat or MASS produced beef that are all fed some bullshit grains.
Huge thing I notice here is buddy is marketing genius . He markets and built a business. Second take away is you don’t need to be smart in school to be successful in life. He’s not successful cause his candy is the best , he’s successful because his marketing is the best (and branding). Keep that in mind.
Wow! You just motivated and inspired me at the same time.. I always feel stuck like: How do i get started in a business idea or niche? etc... I guess i just need ot be creative. Sort of like.. in the neighborhood and world there are Many Toilet papaer brands, Hamburgers Brands, Pizza Brands, Water Brands, and it comes down to MArketing and price
If I could give this interview, two thumbs up I would. There are a lot of gems in it. Thank you for your knowledge, expertise , time and interview. Well done, well received. ❤
This is awesome!! ❤ I just started my own cellphone case business with my last money (that was borrowed 😅) and starting from Zero. I am actually a designer and worked in the business for years before I moved to America. Having 0 income since last year because my husband got very sick and is permanently disabled and doesn't get any help + having an 8 year old son + waiting for my Greencard + mother in law just passed + our lives being on hold on so many parts, I did start and now I am praying haaard!! ☺️🙏❤️ This video just gave me a big push after having a really rough morning because my husband is doing pretty bad.. 🙈 I won't give up and hopefully can tell my success story soon!! ❤
It would have been nice to know about his first steps from day one, specifically how he spent his first marketing dollars and how he managed to get his products into the first retail stores. He is one of my favorite guests.
Fantastic video! I remember first watching Maxx a few years before he started Sour Strips. He has always given me the impression of being authentic and kind. He's earned all the success he has encountered there's no question about that. Thanks for sharing another snippet of his story
i have been watching Maxx Chewning youtube channel from day one when he was making fitness videos him and Christian Guzman, always been soo inspirational , great to see him become successful
Wow this is crazy. I used to watch Maxx when I was big into powerlifting YEARS ago and tbh I forgot about him. Crazy to see where he's at now. I always see this candy in Target, and never knew it was his product.
Unbelievable dedication and hustle! 💪 Never stopping, always pushing forward. This level of commitment is truly inspiring. Everyone, keep grinding, and success will undoubtedly follow. 🔥
This was one of the best interviews I have seen in the past many years. What an inspirational guy he is. Also, credit goes to the interviewer and his team also to do such a well structured interview and unearth such valuable insights of an entrepreneur. Please keep up the great work team 👍🏻
What a solid dude. Some amazing advice in this interview and when he talks about his dad that was real. Thanks for sharing your story Maxx and UpFlip for doing what you guys do! Great stuff.
That “close your eyes, roll the dice, hope for the best”, is the biggest brick wall for people. Several people have never seen large loan amounts and begin to panic that they will not be able to pay it back. Congrats on the success! As a nutrition nut, I’m not sure I’d buy your product but pats on back to you. I will say, in order to compete in an over saturated market, you have to spend a lot of money on marketing. Not surprised that 50-100k goes into marketing.
Absolutely amazing to listen to such a genuine guy. The product looks awesome too, wish I could get this in India. As a Supply chain consultant, I could just advise Maxx to not pile up inventories in the new warehouse if he wants to manage his cash flow. Im sure you can serve your customers with what you have already, you just need to turn your inventory faster
Such an exciting story; I am about to launch my product, and this information was very insightful. Great video, UpFlip, and props to the creator of Sour Strips for such a great vision and execution on bringing his product to market. It is inspiring to all of us entrepreneurs on a mission to do the same.
Dude is a millionaire off sour candy. How could anyone hate on this? Love, love, love this video, love this guy's energy. I need to lose weight, otherwise I'd be definitely purchasing, but I'm a fan for sure. Excellent video, glad I found UpFlip, following both you and Sour Strips without a doubt.
Man, this is motivational. And that bit at the end about paralysis by analysis hit me hard. I’ve had a bunch of million dollar ideas but I think too much about what could potentially go wrong and I back out. Thank you for this video. I think it helped me understand that slow progress is better than no progress, and to just get started, and deal with the issues as they arise.
Me and this guy have so many similarities.. This guy is basically the same as me except he did it and I didn’t. I had a candy business idea years ago but never pulled the trigger. Congrats to Maxx and thank you for the video. Very motivating
That's right look for the product. The main question is whether your candy strips make millions of dollars yearly or monthly but how are the conditions of your product to the marketplace? You can sell many candies in the beginning but how long your candy product will stay? Are they buying it or just in the store sitting and waiting for a miracle? Every time I look at the business I am observing if the business or your company is for the long term or the short term. Will it stay longer or not?
He gets feedback from the stores that order it. The order ahead. If it’s not successful then you they don’t order again. His sour candy is usually the number 1 seller in store compared to other brands. They buy wholesale based on projected numbers, increase of stores they put it in, etc. People don’t realize that every single place has metrics and utilize numbers to take away guessing games for this. There’s a lot of communication and that makes everything much easier to manage and project.
OMG! I love that you are from Roanoke. I call Roanoke my home away from home when I first moved to the US from the Philippines many moons ago. I trained as a Med Tech at Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley which is now part of Corilion Medical. It has changed so much since I visited last summer.
As a paint expert, your only two options are to delicately remove the wall, and transport it in one piece without breaking it, is going to be a challenge. Tape up some white paper, over the painting, trace it, and then reproduce the painting at the new location, with the stencil created from the original.
I remember back in the day when I started getting really into strength training at the gym I see a dude just ripping 405lb dead lifts off the ground. Turns out he had a small youtube channel that I ended up watching for about a year. Month by month his channel started growing and he started getting more popular with other youtubers and began to do more colabs. I haven’t really kept up but every now and then I checked up on his channel since i stopped lifting weights but saw he had started a successful sour candy business. Now several years later I see him on this channel that randomly popped up in my feed and he is now a multi millionaire.

how can you be a "Fitness Influencer" and be selling something that is "anti-Fitness"
I really like theses Gents Their making some great points all throughout this video
To innovate a new product, just look at the products you use and ask what are the one or two things you wish was different about that product.
That is gold right there!

He deserves every bit of it! Hope you learned from his humble beginnings as we do 🙏
I think one of the most important things from the video is that this business was not his first rodeo, he was involved with many business ideas with varying successes or failures, he also used the skills he learned from his other side hustles to grow his 'jackpot' project/business.
Exactly, great comment.
His involvement honed him to who he is today 🙏
I liked what he said about not being afraid of larger companies. As competition increases in my space, I am not afraid because larger companies can't offer personalized care like we do. Bigger companies can't execute as good as smaller companies.
Absolutely true! We shouldn't be afraid of what we can offer against more prominent companies 🔥
I agree. The future is going to consist of all these "micro" brands that hyper focus on one thing. Especially when so much is being artificially created now and days. Personalized care for candy buyers? How cute!! 🤣
@@addictedtoid5375 What is "cute" about it? Just because you can't wrap your head around it you automatically think it's a bad idea?
@@addictedtoid5375The biggest complaint from Candy buyers is receiving packages with broken or crushed sweets. So yes “care” is very important.

"It is about solving a problem... Finding a problem and creating a solution". I enjoyed watching this.
It's a phenomenal advice! We all learned from him 🙏
The interesting thing to me is deciding what constitutes a problem. Like, who would have known that sour candy had a problem in the market?
@@makingmodernmen8843to be fair, sour candy isn’t very sour. So if he took it up a notch, he solved that problem 😂
