It baffles me that that they don't declare any food on the card, but are asked verbally right before the bags are to be searched, and still deny.
Perhaps they misunderstand the word for food and sweeties....cos I do not count sweeties as food, but nuts are.
@@JessieB_ this is the most observed excuse that I have heard. If being in the country for as little as a year, you should be able to understand what sweet is or what food is. More less, in the card clearly states, "if you are not sure, say yes." Are the confused about this too?
@@Uncle_Sam001 What do you mean “for as little as a year.””?

I love the English student who can't speak English. And the old lady has lived there for 26 years but can't speak English either. What a joke.
Anyone who lives here better learn to speak English. Or get removed. Just shows no respect.
It didn't surprise me at all. Hundreds of thousands Latino in the US don't speak English and not willing to learn English. They claimed and demanded all government officers to speak Spanish to them.

Especially those who are frequent travellers and those who bring in dangerous food items, don't declare and/or obviously hide it (in wrong packaging for example.). Some bring in enough food to stock shelves in a small store.
Drug smugglers get too light of a sentence. 6 years for smuggling?
Yep - especially if the card is written in their native language!! Then there's no excuse whatsoever! You can't say that you didn't understand, because it's in YOUR OWN LANGUAGE!!
@AnnaGreen-ui6dx Unfortunately way too many of them are Australian citizens.
If they can’t follow the rules, kick them out.
You know that family was lying. "I didn't know "
Frankly, they don't care what kind of foods they bring in or the consequences to the country; they just don't want to be caught.
Breaches should never have warnings. They should always have to pay a fine if knowingly lying on a legal document.
I mean there is a place for warnings. I got a warning for leaving a sandwich in my checked luggage. I clearly wasn't trying to smuggle a sandwich.
These people did not accidentally leave anything there though.
They signed paperwork....and still bring food.plants.ciggs. ...should be treated as SMUGGLERS

LOL. You underestimate Grandma!
Look, she’s probably carried the money when she went out of Australia. That’s her piggy bank, a common mode of safe keeping one’s savings. She may not know that she can legally carry the money as long as it’s declared. A lot of this can be solved no needing of any fines if she knew the law better. There’s a lot of fear, thereby denial. She doesn’t know that she’s been sniffed out by the dog.

I’m certain the family used that old woman to try and smuggle in the money. They figured since she’s an old woman in a wheelchair she wouldn’t be searched or face any questioning.
Tradition had nothing to do in logic. It is appearing that she doesn’t want others to know, especially when it comes to money.
Some Aussie Casino missed out on a lot of money. To me that is one of the main reasons these people attempt such things. If the young one's lost the money - good job!

So the Thai student had to go back home to care for her father-in-law while her husband stayed in Australia? Sounds fair, right?
1:30 See her long fingernails? Unfortunately I know they can be harboring a variety of germs, and bacteria. Trust me because I’ve taken care of enough elderly people with long nails. Younger people can have the same issues, especially with false nails. A newborn nursery had many babies come down with pneumonia. After a through investigation it was found the majority of the nurses working there had fake nails, and they had a very deadly bacteria in, and under their nails.
I think press on nails is the way to go. At least they only last a week or two...
As a typical clueless Male I've always wondered,
These women with ultra long fingernails, how in the heck do they clean themselves after going to the bathroom. I would imagine it would be difficult enough to try and shower with those claws. Every time I see a woman with 3 inch nails I have to wonder if they skip using toilet tissue after they use the restroom or if they even bathe regularly. I really don't care if they do/ dont, its none of my business, I just wouldn't want them working at my favorite restaurant.
Retired USA RN. We couldn’t have fake nails for this reason. I’ve never had them once in my life. As far as elderly, they become constipated frequently and dig it out. Beware of brown fingernails.

Do you have any food in your bag? No. Officer opens the bags, finds food!! "I didn't know!" Yes you did!!! Stop lying and PAY THE FINES!! Should be at least a few thousand dollars per item!!
I have heard that Asians revere their elders. I think that is no longer the case when grandma is the mule. I think what those guys revere is money.
Many Asian countries and cultures and also cannot generalize based on this occurrence. Would be like saying all white people or all Spanish speaking people, there are so many different cultures
Those days are history in all cultures and countries. It is rare today.
That sadly is not true and is a myth. Young immigrants come in from places like China, get work, then bring their elderly parent's in to babysit. When that job is done, they are cast out, and many elderly end up in social housing, rarely get a visit from their "loving kids" and become an economical burden on their hosts, benefits included. China does not allow that kind of thing to happen. You are on your own.
It’s sad that the agents have to assume visitors are lying
Not watching any more. So annoying. Just deport the people who deliberately break the law.
And what about this repeating bulshit so that the program lasts longer getting so sick of that
I heard a LOT of lies tonight on this video.
Sounds like a Google sheep script to me
Why are they letting people who are breaking the law literally get away with it and come in the country with what they’re breaking the law in.
I guess grandma paid a little fine and kept the money. Hers sons must've been laughing at the whole situation. Sometimes the fines are too little. Not strict enough, those border service agents, especially with those Arabs that declared nothing.
Why she no ask the students why you no speak the English if you studying English for 5 years
Poor student maybe...lol spent more time with her face in her phone probably. :)
Probably did. Obviously an edited version of the full interview.
She is a liar, and she deserved to be denied entry.
Thing is in Australia, they rely so much on international students for the economy they are very relaxed in chasing them down. When I was at uni there were always students who couldn't speak the language and never did any work, yet they Always managed to get through. I think they may have got a different grading system or had credits from taking English classes.
We once asked to kick out a guy who never turned up and didn't speak English in our final year project, and they just told us to make it work.
If I know anything, after watching vtubers for years they tend to downplay their ability to speak their non-native language
NO FINES on undeclared cash, anything over $10K should be confiscated !!!
Why?
Yeah, lets vote for the government to confiscate people's hard earned cash for no reason. What an absolute tool you are.
This limit on cash is all part of the war on cash. Hence the war on our freedoms. All this concern over money laundering. The real criminals are banks and govts ( who behind the scenes support trafficking)
"Do you know why it would come up with that reading?" I do, I do!!!!
Back in the early 1990s an elderly woman froze to death in a bus shelter in Toronto, when her shopping cart was gone through by the authorities they found nearly $300,000.00 in cash in it. She didn't trust the banks and the shelters would not let her bring her bags in.
Some of the elderly have mental blocks around securing money, hiding it themselves instead of using banks. They were affected by families losing everything with the Great Depression between WWI and WWII when even money in the banks was lost.
They should be fined! Big fines!
