"I don't remember the name of my high school." Says no one ever. Good catch.
I do not remember the name of my school, and i dont have Altzheimers, all i could tell you is the country and town and religion it was or is,
I not only remember the name of my high school, I remember the name of our mascot!!! I remember my mom's social security number!! I can remember a lot of stuff.
I never had an high school, we have a higher education school called Lyceum, spelling differs by language! It’s in at least Western Europe!! I went to 2, as zone differ. My one I remember name, second I do not! At mid 70s and start of dementia, it’s not bad! I am forgetting many things in the 6 languages I spoke!! Be well !!!🥸
@@marmoratus, Alzheimer’s is only 1 form of dementia, I have vascular type, I am so lucky!! Alone, no help, forget all and faint when standing…great hmm? good luck !!
He's still in Australia
Thank you so so much for saving those poor animals.... I can't imagine how people can be so cruel to put unharmed little lives into that horrible bags and boxes and transfer to another country. I'm so grateful for what border officers have done!!!! Thank you millions❤❤❤
How can people be so cruel with those poor animals.?
I’m not a reptile enthusiast, but seeing those poor critters made me want to cry. 🦎
@@AnneCaulder Me Too!..
Me too. It's so cruel
How could that guy Mark think they would believe he was born in, and went to school in Australia with such poor command of English and he doesn't remember his high school? Scammer.
Thank goodness for animals survived okay. That was a shocking one to watch poor things packed in uncomfortable for long hours.
Next time don't post telegram spam it has already been removed.
I used to manage a small pet store owned by a veterinarian: we were always very careful about any imported reptiles/amphibians, and would only buy domestically bred species, which are usually more expensive. At the time it was common knowledge in that type of business that of 100 illegally imported animals for resale, 90 will die in transit. It's a hideous situation.
These animal traffickers should be jailed for life!
👏👏👏👏
YES thats what I just wrote on other comment !!!
100 percent agree
I've lived in Asia and trust me when I say north eastern Asian countries have zero respect for life.

I’m on the verge of tears when I see those poor animals suffering. So cruel.
Poor animals, I hope the person goes to prison for this 1000 years tbh
And always have a rock in their shoe.
It’s wild how some of you treat animals better than humans. 1000 years for trafficking an ANIMAL? & I bet you’d try to excuse a child molester or a racist.
im furious someone just put those cute animals in socks without water and food !! grrrrrrrrrrr they should be in jail forever even buyers !!

I think the Texan was on the spectrum. He seemed like it anyway, but at the end when he just walked off without saying goodbye (or grabbing his cart)... that cinched it for me!
I agree! His behavior seemed to be similar to someone who is ASD or has Asperger syndrome. Poor guy but no harm and at least he can travel and enjoy life.
My Mom is Texan and no offence to my Mom but all Texan's are a bit Uptight
So what? We have laws of entry.
@@Nicholas.610 every country has, mate. SMHO
@@Nicholas.610 I get that and am all for it. What does that have to do with my comment about the gentleman from Texas? Just making an observation. When someone says, "Nice day!" do you talk about the need for sunlight and a good rest at night?
you know , smuggling drugs , fake documents , screaming passengers , i understand. But to hurt an animal by confine them and starve them in the process , that act I don't forgive .
That Mark guy was NOT born in Australia, listen to him speak 🗣 also, who forgets the name of their High School?? I hated High School, but I never forgot it’s name😂
i went to 5 different high schools and remember the name of them all
@@jimsmith9819- I can not only name the school but the mascot too!!
18:13 biggest proof that he’s from China
Exactly!
He has a handicap
Mark could said something like he doesn’t raised in Australia, living in overseas for many years 😂 but officers would definitely checked all the documents in system to verify his identity , you can’t escape it 😅
He would have had a tough time since they didn't have a record of him ever having an Australian passport before the one he was using.
And I get how he could have done it with a single fraudulent birth certificate copy. Before 1986, Australia had jus soli birthright citizenship, so just being born in Australia was sufficient. Just with a birth certificate he could have established his entire identity, although anyone whose primary language was English would have found his story nearly impossible given that English wasn't exactly fluent and he sounded like someone who learned English in a Chinese-speaking country.
I wonder how those Animal Smugglers would like being stuffed in a bag, packed in a box a get shipped to Japan, too bad that their Punishments cannot be like their Crimes, stuffed in a box, tumbled about for a few days but in their case the boxes should then be forgotten, now that would be Justice.
They'll get back Karma somehow or other, today repercussions are intense!
All thee animals have survived including the long neck turtle 😊
yes we know, we watched the video, just like you did.
"What did you have for lunch?"
"Breakfast"
Mark, whatever 😂😂😂😂
He’s got the wrong accent even who’s he fooling
oh Mark, lol I have been wondering what happened to this fake Mark with heavy accent guy since previous video lol
@@CrystalCorbett-l3bPoor Mark couldn’t even pronounce Australia. Nice try! 😂
Mark doesn’t sound like he was born in Australia. Unless he was born there, but not raised there. Odd.
Yes, if he was born here in Australia and lived here, he would have better English and more of an aussie accent.
I've heard of people who were born in a country, then went back to the place of origin of the parents, and then back to where they were born. Bruce Lee would be a prime example. The actor James Hong was born in the United States, went to Hong Kong, and came back to the United States for high school. But even today he speaks English with a noticeable Cantonese accent.
But someone claiming to have been born and raised in Australia whose English is that poor? Does not compute. His accent speaking English didn't even remotely sound Australian. It sounded exactly like someone who took English lessons in China and who still has issues with grammar, plural, he/she, etc.
I Agree That The 3 Year Exclusion Is To Short And Needs To Be Increased Or Even Doubled.
For some of these people it needs to be a PERMANENT BAN!!!
Did "Mark" really think that with that thick foreign accent of his that customs would believe for one microsecond that he was a native-born Australian? 😂
He had to have the story that he went to school in Australia without a previous passport history of him leaving Australia.
I find it strange how they seem disappointed when they don’t find drugs or anything 🫤🥴 They should be relieved.
Makes me wonder if they'd plant drugs. Cops have been known to do. That's absolutely terrifying
Their job is to screen out drugs. Every miss is represents time sunk on a bad lead and lost opportunity cost.
what cracks me up is the $420 Fine in the USA 420 is a Code for Cannabis
There should be a law, if you are caught they fine you and you go to jail if convicted. On the other hand if they can't find anything the official carrying out the investigation will be subject to a fine out of their pocket and subject to 6 months suspension and imprisonment
@@Dr.JudeAEMasonMD It’s just still weird to be disappointed that someone “IS NOT” a criminal 😂😂🤷♀️ That’s all I’m saying.
In some cases I feel like a 3 year exclusion is too short.
"See you in 36 months!"
If you watch enough of these episodes you will see that the people that had 3 year exclusions previously have a tough time getting in. I think the 3 years is the start of it, not the end of it.
I wish my country did that, here in USA we let everybody in unless they come via Mexico, go figure?
@@TBI-Firefighter-451if they come via Mexico, they don’t need anything, just walk on through and we’ll give you a free hotel for months!
@@operandexpanse Yep. So why don't you just hop the border to Mexico, bury your documents, swim the River/crawl through the cactus and claim your "free" hotel/benefits etc? No point in not getting in on the racket!
"Okay Mr Lau.... Mark... or whatever". Lol
Jeff is a mate of ours who came to visit Wollongong. He has Autism and he is not strange at all. Seriously guys, get training
That's exactly what I was thinking while watching. Dude was absolutely terrified and shame on these officers for not being properly trained. Hope Jeff is doing well
I am Autistic and people constantly perceive me as strange because I am not a neurotypical and march the beat of my own drum (I play several instruments so that is pun-intended)
Any cash they steal feom travellers is divided amongst the on duty shift as a bonus. They are the criminals that search for lesser criminals.
They do have training that’s why they stopped him. It’s nothing personal against him. They deal with people that act the same but not because of autism. They try to swallow drugs and they act very similar they are just doing their jobs. If you actually watch this show you’ll see a ton of people acting like Jeff but then they get worse and worse. Jeff didn’t get worse but they have to do there jobs that they are trained to do. Also when he starts being stand offish it’s also something criminals do. Not blaming Jeff at all. It super sucks for him but he has the mannerisms of criminals they deal with daily. If they let everyone acting like Jeff through because of potential autism they wouldnt catch many criminals. You should have more understanding. You have no idea what they are trained for or what the job they have to do is like. You just want to choose your outrage instead of looking at the bigger picture.
@@wesmartyn3829you sound fun
The poor trafficked lizards!! So cruel. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the staff at the zoo chatting away by the car about the animals when they got them rather than rushing to get them out of those inhumane bags. Then saying they’re putting them in another bag in quarantine. Soooo sad😢
Yeah I'd rush water and food for them, they seem so slow...
What they did to those animals is horribly heartbreaking.😨😟
So horrible.. I don't understand the reason for all that
I also love how they always assume anyone who is a little different is a criminal or at the very least very suspect.
1000 fines and just 5 months jail sentence for fraudulent passport! How on earth he fooled the foreign office! Shame on australia
Suspended jail sentence. Seems ridiculously low for that crime.
@@neale3871 Think about the guy just spend our tax money for 5 months. I reckon should send him back to where him depart straight away and permanent suspended to Aus.
@@neale3871
They probably escorted him straight to the airport for the first available plane to China.
FAKE PASSPORT SHOULD BE A PERMABAN
On the one hand, I wish he had gotten away with it unless he was working for the UFWD or something, but on the other hand, how is the penalty for obtaining a passport fraudulently just deportation and a three-year exclusion? If his English were better and he had a little more charisma, I think he could have talked his way out of it, though
I could produce a much better Aussie accent myself but I would never, ever fantasize of convincing anybody that I am Australian. Not the brightest bulb in the room.
To any country
and he is complaining
Drives me insane when they go on dramatically about a large fine and then it's something pathetic like a few hundred dollars. Intentional violations should be met with much steeper punishments than non-concealed violations
The two of those agents were on power trip. They so desperately wanted to find drugs on him. They were so upset when they didn’t find anything on him. If you were going to be that upset, then it’s time to find another job.
It's called hunting instinct, without it our specie would not exist.
@@luzvaldes1030 honey it is clear that you are looking for an argument which I am not going to entertain. But you have yourself a wonderful day. 😊
I agree.
This episode was first broadcast in 2004. Those agents probably are retired by now.
Of course they want to find drugs and get them off the street!!
The man in green is an eccentric... felt bad for him
The cruelty to those poor animals makes me furious. And pet shops need to stop selling exotics. They're fuelling a horrible trade.
I wonder why they don’t give the reptiles immediate medical attention!?!? Those smugglers should be jailed for decades!
How heartbroken to learn about the cruelty of criminals torturing and trafficking innocent animal lives. How disgusting. I hope they got a few decades in prison at the very least. And I hope the lovely creatures could recover and be loved and taken care of. Thank you to all involved in rescuing the precious creatures that suffered so greatly for many days. 💔
So sad that people would treat those amazing monogamous lizards that way. I hope they can get them back to their partners.
Very unsympathetic, bobble gum chewing, customs officer.
Once I traveled for 2 days, crammed conditions in 6 Aeroplanes, I could barely keep my balance and feet were locking up due to a lack of movement. "What did I eat on the airplanes?" Something. Was it over the Atlantic, or was it from Bruxelles to Copenhagen? It might have been. I was tired! Would I like to sit down? No, I wanted to do the opposite - move about. Sitting too much was the problem.
Why didn't you stop somewhere for awhile, ooh I know why. I did that one summer but nvr again. I'd rather pay more to be comfortable!!😂
Mark Lie was actually my High school captain and he was the wicket keeper in our schools 1st cricket 11. He excelled in theatre and was the lead in musicals at school. He’s also an accomplished soprano and was a passionate tap dancer. He once told me “any publicity is good for my career”.
This Mark speaks English with a Beijing Mandarin accent but Lau is a Cantonese last name.
Finally, a closure on Mark!
What? fake passport only gets 3 year exclusion? Should he be banned for life and photo/name/fingerprint shared with interpol?
I hope Jeff enjoyed his stay. That wouldn't have seemed very welcoming.
Mark is obviously not Australian born... I mean, it's the most obvious thing ever. The instant he said he doesn't know his high school's name (and when he actually just started talking) was a RED FLAG moment.
The reptiles in the pillow cases and socks breaks my heart. Idk how ppl can live with themselves doing such a cruel act. 😢
💔
What was the chinese guy thinking? you can't claim that you were educated in australia (and born) and sound like that. That would be the first red flag that almost anyone can pick out.
I've heard people who learned English in China and who never left the country whose English was better. But even then they often would have the typical plural form and she/he confusion.
Mark just needed a smoke and he could’ve then proudly sung his old school song.
There should be stiffer penalties for smuggling animals than for drugs.
I'm just floored that they record interviews on cassette tapes.
Jeff looks like the character Eugene Tooms from "The X-Files". (The liver eater) 😂
Green sweater Guy Seems more like a paid actor 😂😂
Rock solid Darwin local accent there
Only 1000$ penalty for fake passport and birth certificate?!?!?!
Sounds like a 1K fee to allow him to come back after 3yrs
This is 20 years old now. Current penalties are a lot harsher with up to 10 years in prison
so another country calls to say he may be carrying drugs and yet let him fly in the first place
It’s time to ask questions when the socks are breathing
Good try, Mark 😂😂
He was born in Australia can't they tell by his accent?😂
It's surprising that I've met many people in Australia who've lived there 30 to 40 years and still don't speak English
I get that when someone was born and raised in another country. But for someone who was allegedly born and educated in Australia, he shouldn't sound like someone who just arrived from China and doesn't even sound remotely Australian.
$1000 fine and 3 year ban for fake passport? Slap on the wrist
Wildlife trafficking should be mandatory 10 years prison and $1M fine minimum. Ban from entering again and fine proceeds go to wildlife sanctuaries.
It is heartbreaking to see how the wildlife was treated
Jeff has $7k in American dollars. $6583 American dollars is $10k Australian on 4/4/24 so he has more than he is allowed to have without declaring it. Lots of Americans must just mistakenly assume that the $10k limit without declaration means in American dollars without giving it the proper amount of thought.
It's not new. I saw Jeff about 10 years ago
Depends on when. Peak exchange rate in 2005 was about 0.95 AUD to 1 USD. There was even a time (around 2010) when the AUD was worth more.
"Hao" did Mark think they'd believe he was born in Australia?
Ever saw The Killing Fields? It was apparently from a real-life plan where they altered a British passport (from a friend who had a spare) and the very Cambodian Dith Pran was practicing saying his new name (in his thick accent) in order to get out of Cambodia. Now that was wild. That was back when photos were glued to the photo page and they were hoping that they might not notice there was no embossing. But apparently the photo they used faded and he was refused.
However, his purported birthdate was when Australia still had jus soli (right of the soil) citizenship, so a forged birth certificate alone might have been adequate to establish an identity as an Australian citizen.
That treatment of wildlife/animals really angers me!!!!!😢
All the animals survived! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾❤️❤️
Oddball Jeff in the green top looks like he could be an older brother to the actor Vince Vaughn. As Vaughn his movements and facial expressions favor Jeff. I'm so glad those animals were rescued.
I was thinking Don Knotts' son.
He is not an odd ball. He has a disability.
It would be so easy to prove where you're from. Jobs, teachers' names, street names, school events. If you were innocent, you would argue until you changed the custom officer's mind.
Those poor lizards! Are they gonna treat them or just leave them in the bags? Come on! Help them, please!
Look at his computer, OMG this show must be like 30yrs old
One guy mentioned President Bush and Bush left office in 2008 which was 15 years ago so it’s very old
I noticed that too..
This episode's from the first season which was quite a few years ago.
However, some people still dress similar or bring electronics that are as old as freaking rocks through airport security.

Mark "or whatever" needs to enunciate a little better if he wants to convince officials that he's a former Australia resident. He also needs to remember the name of his high school. At 70, I haven't forgotten the name of my school, even though I'm thousands of miles away from it.

lol wonder what he's doing lately? trying to get into another English speaking countries claiming he was born there ?
You can’t even call the word Australia 😢😅
Hao got away very lightly, should have spent atleast a few years in Australian prison and then should have been deported to China with a permanent ban on entering Australia.
haha for what? paying a million in tax so u can collect ur centerlink ?
He was deported to China.
Way over 20 years old thus vid..still great info
My word did "Mr Lau" attempt to hang on this false identity. I'd have given up - it was clear to all that his false identity wasn't going to past close scrutiny.
It was clear that the authorities already knew the passport was false - that's probably why he ended up in the interview room in the first place.
Look, the fact that he couldn't remember the name of the street he lived on is bad enough, but that he couldn't remember what high-school he attended? Come on - unless he had severe brain damage and terrible retrograde amnesia, he wouldn't forget that. What person forgets the name of their high school at his age? No one. It's completely insane. That he still had the guts to act indignant and self-righteous is also really annoying.
Oh - the passport was real. But the identity was not.
A lot of people whose first language isn't English are blissfully unaware that their accent is nowhere near that of a native English speaker. He thought he was brilliant.
So professional chewing gum John. Ridiculous.
Imagine getting pissy with someone and knowing they are going on vacay and calling customs or the airport and lying and saying they are a drug smuggler
7:00 He claims to be born in Australia, and yet he can’t remember the name of his high school, and his accent is very strong Asian.
It is true. From Dallas to Sydney is 17 hours. I’d be loopy too after 17 hours in a coach seat, and crossing 14 time zones.😢
Geoff contravenes the Australian fruit cake threshold - Rejected!
He has Autism.
No way he was borned in Australia with that heavy accent 😂😂😂😂
So Canada customs did not find anything wrong and let the passenger go and gave Australian customs the bullying rights?
21:07 I wonder if holding onto the cigarette, and sniffing it gives him some kind of comfort.
I mean I'd understand if you don't remember your high school when you're like 90 years old...😅
Another undesirable getting kicked out.
I am surprised that the penalties are so small and that these people will be allowed back into Australia.
Visas can still be rejected. And for document fraud that's a huge reason to reject.
Lol, I've met a lot of Chinese people who were not born in Australia but have spent a lot of time in Australia, and they can all speak better than that guy. His English was exactly like someone from China who thinks they know English but doesn't really speak it very well.
My understanding is that people who aren't native English speakers might have difficulty discerning different English accents. He was likely unaware that he didn't sound Australian.
This series has included some people originally from China who immigrated to Australia. And it's pretty apparent when it's kind of an Aussie-Chinese accent vs maybe a British or American accent mixed in with the Chinese accent. That's typical with people learning English in Asia.
22:00 I knew he wasn’t born in Australia! It was so obvious!
4:12 This customs agent claims the traveller "doesn't know what he's doing," but earlier said he "is pretty switched on" without sarcasm.
I now appreciate more the work of customs officials.
What about water and food for those reptiles? They cannot be left to die waiting for customs to get them. Sad.
Animal abuser, 0 empathy for this guy

The guy from Texas looks like he is ready to pass out...
When was this filmed? Mark was born in 79!... That makes him in his mid 40's. There's no way...
It's been filmed at mid Dec 2004. 19 years ago...... Fake Mark should be 25 years old. I think that's why the officer trying to ask him about the name of high school he attended. I don't believe someone would forgot his/her high school name in 7-8 years time!!
