  • Connor Pay's injury could reshape the 17th-ranked BYU Cougars' season. With a fractured fifth metatarsal sidelining him, the BYU football program's offensive line faces a critical test. How will they adapt without their star center?
    This episode explores Connor's leadership role from the sidelines, his recovery timeline, and the strategic adjustments the Brigham Young University (BYU) must make. Elder Ronald A. Rasband's priesthood blessing adds a unique dimension to Connor's journey, highlighting the spiritual support within Kalani Sitake's program. As Sonny Makasini steps into the starting center position, the offensive line's reshuffling under TJ Woods during the bye week becomes a focal point. The discussion also emphasizes maintaining intensity and individual improvement during this crucial period.
    Join us for an insightful look at the BYU Cougars' strategies and challenges as they navigate this pivotal moment. Don't miss the chance to hear about the team's path forward and Connor Pay's inspiring leadership.

    @CPay70 Connor, I don't know if you will ever read this message. I appreciate your willingness to share what happened. Sometimes, we must place a significant piece of ourselves on the altar of sacrifice and let the Lord mold that part of us. I know that some sacrifices are more painful than others. I also know that the price for compassion for others in their trials can come at a steep price. I honor you for sacrificing your foot for a time and not playing in some games so the team can become more unified and fans can see the tender mercies of the Lord upon you. Consider the sacrifice of Coach Hill in responding to a heart attack and how it unified the team. You also have the chance to sacrifice for the unity of the team and to inspire them with this injury. Your sacrifice does not go unnoticed. May you get well soon! We will all keep you in our prayers.

    Ball security was a huge question mark at the beginning of the season… and now the exchange that takes place on every single down of offense is in jeopardy. Conner Pay is the last dude that we could afford to lose. More than Roberts, Martin, Retzlaff.
    Against Utah is the goal. 3 games, 2 bye weeks. AZ, OKC, UCF glad the first two are at home, Martin being back will help but those just got much more difficult. UCF looks like a scheduled loss. Last three games of the season should be wins…
    Unfortunately there is a route where we drop the next 4 and then win out. If you are worried how we go 8-4 that’s it.

      Next man up.
      The staff will provide reps to ensure the backups are ready.
      The mentality of this team is to improve each week.
      Keep that mindset and BYU will be fine.

    • @malaw514
      @malaw514 День назад +1

      @@interculturalcooperationThat’s a real feel good statement there. Unfortunately that’s all it really is. Next man up doesn’t matter if you didn’t put in the work in the off season and in recruiting.
      Jake Eichorn was listed as back up center on the released depth chart, but was in fact not the back up center because Makasini took over. And now we know that there 2-3 guys that may get that role and need to be brought up to speed (essentially learn the role).
      BYU was not prepared for this injury. Proven by being unable to withstand Baylors adjustments and with this mini audition. But how many Bronco Mendenhall and Kalani Sitaki teams have started strong and then faded. Depth.
      But sure Next man up, or live laugh love or whatever.
