Dragonflight gearing was the best change wows ever made. Made me a real fan again. No more time gate shit. People have lives. Love it
I definitely felt like the tier pieces were a bit of a setback in the very beginning when it was all RNG but they fixed that with allowing you to convert your pieces into tier pieces

That’s so true. I quit in WoD and had no intention of coming back. Came back for tbc classic and ended up not enjoying it. Then I prepared for wotlk and gave Dragonflight a try and loved it more than wrath. It was so easy to gear up and queue arena compared to classic. I used to be that “classic Andy” who hated everything retail but now I enjoy more retail than classic. Wrath was too time consuming with all the PvE gear required.
I prefer cata gearing, queue rbgs even if you lose you get conquest.
Means I can PvE and Enjoy pvp.
Cata was a lot of fun for me. Mage is so strong at 1v2 this xpac. I had so much selling carries to level up my guild. But nowadays it's hard to get excited for wow. I want to but it's not there anymore.
I've always seen Classic as having a deadline and inevitable death, sure Cata classic might be fun, but are people going to play MoP Classic after grinding MoP Remix? Are people going to be excited for WoD Classic? Retail can at least continue to grow and evolve. Dragonflight has been one of the best expansions in terms of gameplay and systems IN MY OPINION, but lacked in story and lore. War Within is at least looking like good changes in terms of class bloat trimming and rebalancing.
Cata is only S9-11, S12 is MoP
S10 for pve you just want the legendary staff
S11 theres a weapon and a dps trinket for everyone. Theyre only better because they have a dmg proc on them.
You dont NEED these things to get glad. Not everyone can get staff etc.
And as far as the weps / trinkets in S11 you can just grab the raid finder version if you dont wanna be a pve boy. The procs are almost negligible between the ilvl differences. Its really almost no pve required except for those like 3 slots.

@TGShunai I didn't. I said there's a weapon for everyone. Also rogue lego is NOT bis for rogue in s11. There's 1h axe from DS that has a dmg proc on it & you can duel wield 2 of them. The bis set up is 2 of those + the bonelink+agi trinket that both proc dmg too. It's the burstiest set up possible for rogue.

I will be playing both but mainly retail. I only care about the current state of the game. I only play the classic servers because some of my old friends came back to relive their memories and I joined them. Retail rocks atm. I really love the PVP on retail. It's fast, it's clever, it's the best version of PvP in any MMO and the chaos of it is what makes me like it.
I’m so tired of retail it has just gotten so stale for me. Have wanted to try something different but tbc and wrath took so much time and the arena play just seemed kind of bad. Cata is much more casual and arena is a lot more fun so I’m swapping from retail to cata.
The flow in retail is kinda fun, but I hate trying to be "good" at playing battlegrounds now since that same flow is capped potential 1vX which is why I wanna play Cata, but as you said, the gearing part is muuuch better on retail.
Like, the immortality CDs right, cant really suprise people, can't dominate with positioning, can't find edge anywhere because the walls of CDs is huge in retail, but it's a trade. Game works well 3v3 or 1v1, and the noobs can be good at the game since they don't lose 5v1 anymore.
I hope TWW will be good I'd much rather invest myself on retail. But I know Cata is good, and I hated DF, so I'm skeptical about it, looks like another DF to me with bad pvp design.

Cata no doubt for me
As someone who played on private wotlk servers for 5+ years i have never been able to get into retail wow. Tried shadowlands and quit after getting almost 1 tapped by divine toll ret pala from across the map xD on launch.
As you said theres alot more stuff going on with micro cc and just trying to pump damage. What i liked about woltk and seemingly cata is that you need to work and kite to create a gap to hardcast your dps. To me that feels rewarding and skillful. Retail is like insta insta insta casters. Just seems like a urf mode from league of legends. Sure the animations are awesome in retail but i feel like its missing fundamentals. Just my 2c

Impact stun is literally a culprit that people hate in retail.
Impact stun is an incrediblely toxic micro cc.
Its an interesting concept that people are promoting it as a good cc.
Daggers for rogues are almost considered mandatory for the last season.
Get ya time in on the first season while its active. Cata wont break the trend of the other reteleases.
Itll die fast play while it lasts.

@@doctorferdinand1003 in the war within there will be solo queue rated battlegrounds which will reward the best PvP gear, I think blizzard said in an interview this was their main focus for PvP going forward
