Sudarshan Kriya has been promoted in India for ages and by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar who runs the "Art of Living" foundation in Bangalore promoting yoga, meditation and ayurveda. Excellent Ted Talk. Thanks Dr. Seppala. Great work and contributions.
Really appreciate this talk and teaching. I always tell my clients, "Your breath will save you." May all beings be safe and have peace and ease. May all being be happy.
To all veterans and armed services people: I SALUTE YOU💐💐💐1000 thanks is not enough for your sacrifice. This is not fair, they helped all of us and now they need our help. Count me in!
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, and breath is about the simplest thing we can do (we just have to think of it)! Thank you Emma, for this great talk.

This was a great talk. My son-in-law, an Iraq veteran, was aided greatly by the breathing techniques presented. As he benefited, my daughter, their children, and I also gained downstream. Great approach.
the breathing technique Sudarshan kriya is an emphatic (and simple) tool and I have benefitted immensely in my personal and professional life. Highly recommended! Thanks Emma Seppala for sharing
Thank you Emma. I'm way far from having experienced such violent traumas, but on my modest level, the continuous attention to my breath, being kind to what I feel is the best stuff I ever initiated in my life, 5 y. ago. Among some residual personal crappy behaviors, I am much less reactive and therefore somewhat more sociable and efficient. Whatever, being attentive feels great
inspirational! this knowledge of the breath, especially the Sudarshan Kriya technique, can change the world, create more peace between nations and more health for the population. It completely transformed my career, my music and my relationships. Highly recommended!
I've struggled with mental illness and my life really improved (less anxiety, less stress, less anger, more calm and focus) when I learned that breathing technique in college. You can learn it on the Art of Living's Happiness Program: www.artofliving.org/us-en/happiness-program
Excellent talk. BREATHWORK is an essential life skill that should be taught at an early age and practiced through life. There are potentially significant benefits for personal and community health!
I am reading a book PRESENCE by Amy Cuddy it's an amazing book. I seen your name Emma Seppala so I googled it and then I seen you did a Ted Talk. I'm so glad I listened to it. Thank U for sharing your knowledge and wisdom with us. God bless you.
Beautiful talk Emma, and great work. How awesome that these breathing techniques help ex-forces so much. I found your name thanks to Max Strom :) Blissful breathing technique: 1. Gently breathe in filling belly, then ribs, then upper chest. Feels like gently inflating a balloon. Brief pause. 2. Gently breathe out, relaxing all tension. Feels like a deep full-body sigh. 3. Pause after exhale, let sounds wash over you, relax until next gentle inhale. Repeat as long as you want. Slow, comfortable, gentle. Works best when lying down, relaxing into the floor. Also effective when you sit. Experiment, find out what works for you. There are tons of videos on youtube about the benefits of breathing well. I can recommend some if you want. I struggled with long-term hyper vigilance (from high crime rate area). I'm amazed at how quickly and how well breathing correctly gets me into a blissful state. I believe our distractible tech culture reinforces anxiety because the ping-pong short attention-span mimics state of high alert. Jumpy behaviour leads to jumpy breathing. Breathing correctly sounds so simple ... and lame. But really, it's my main gateway to happiness & health. Best soundtrack - if you need one - is the ebb and flow of gentle ocean waves. Free 100% natural Valium :))))) xxx
Thank you very much for sharing this kind of.... I think its very helpful for all of us to control our anxiousness and also leaving with peace. Thank you.
Thank you Dr. Emma for this wonderful talk, this will help people transform their lives. Moreover, SKY meditation is the only scientifically proven stress relieving technique in the World. Glad that this technique is included as a lesson in India MBBS (Doctor Degree) syllabus in India! Just Love it.
Amazing work, Emma. I love that you are spearheading the new movement to transform our offices, homes and schools into places of flourishing. Thank you for walking the talk in your everyday life too, it's how true change is initiated. You're my [s]hero
I’ve read 60 pages and it’s so basic, there’s nothing new in the book so far. But I always remind myself that repetition is important and one thought can change the whole game.
What are the breathing techniques people should learn? She shared the square breathing, I imagine there are others, it would be nice to learn how to deepen this knowledge
Hi Emma Seppälä Could you please tell me who was the psychologist you mentioned in your talk. Thank you for your work, it is amazing what we can do when we understand how our breathing effects our health (#BohrEffect! among many other factors). "‘…Normalisation of breathing immediately triggers a healing process..." Buteyko Trilogy Volume 1 Chapter 17: The First Handbook
The breathing techniques here are written the ancient text of hatha yoga pradiprika. Find a qualified teacher in yoga and they can help anyone learn these techniques. However, like any training all is not equal, ask the teacher if they know this text and have read it. Some western methods of yoga teacher training sadly do not cover breathing and philosophy they just teach asana (postures). In the uk, the British wheel of yoga does allocate a whole year (part time) training their teachers on breath techinques from basic to advanced. If you ask about this text and get a blank face then move on, all good teachers should own a copy and have lots of notes and scribbles in it like me! Find a good qualified teacher to help you. Good luck.
Great Talk Emma. Many thoughts you addressed are followed by disciples of great Shri Ravi Shankar. He also has this Art of Living (AOL) happiness program. Check this out: www.artofliving.org/us-en/founder
The study by Philippot study she´s referring to (2010) has severe limitations, both in validity of measurements and in sample size (n=23). Her interpretation of the study is wildly exaggerated.
Emma, you are changing people's lives for better! Thanks a million!
