Cheating does have something to do with the other person, it's a lack of respect and love towards them. It's also immoral, so it does make them a bad person.

I agree that they may not do it with the intention of hurting their partner because they don't think about their partner at all until after the fact which makes it worse. If they took a second to think about how it would affect their partner, maybe they wouldn't do it or decice that they no longer want to be in a relationship.
