    "Sarcophagus Lament", a mystical melody, transports us to a long-forgotten ancient world, where Gods and mortals were living together, fighting, enjoying life, making art.
    The song is composed by the world-renowned lyre virtuoso, Lina Palera, and played on a LUTHIEROS Lyre of Sarcophagus, inspired by the "Orpheus Fresco" found at the throne room of the Palace of Nestor at Pylos, dated back to 1300-1200 BC. This along with the decoration of the Hagia Triada Sarcophagus (dated 1420-1380 BC) are among the oldest lyre depictions in the world! Both portray an Aegean portable symmetrical lyre, decorated with the neck and heads of water birds.

    // Who is Lina?
    Lina Palera is a world-renowned lyre player with live performances at numerous concert halls, museums, international conferences, et cetera, such as the Greek Museum of Byzantine Culture and the Frankfurt MusicMesse.
    She has extensive discography as a guitar player and a vocalist. “Aurora” is her first music album dedicated solely to the ancient lyre and the emotions it can evoke.
    She loves teaching how to play the ancient lyre, and this is why she co-founded and serves as the Head of Music Programs at LyreAcademy.com!
    // About LUTHIEROS Lyre of Sarcophagus, the Ornamented
    This is a premium Collector Edition replica of the Lyre of Sarcophagus, based on some of the oldest lyre depictions around the world.
    The new and elaborate LUTHIEROS Lyre of Sarcophagus has 9 strings and an impressive bright sound. Its arms are masterfully ornamented with themes from ancient Greece, and more specifically with surviving art dated back to the Mycenaean times (1600-1100 BC). It is ideal for anyone willing to awe his audience, as it is a marvelous artifact both in terms of appearance and music. Due to its 9 strings, it gives more than a full octave, making it an ideal instrument for anyone willing to focus on the ancient musical heritage. Whatsmore, with the use of harmonics and other advanced playing techniques, the Lyre of Sarcophagus can produce three to four full octaves, including sharps!
    // About Orpheus Fresco
    A fresco from the throne room of the Palace of Nestor at Pylos, often referred to as the ‘Orpheus Fresco’ depicts a seated lyre player and a bird in flight. It dates to c. 1300 BCE and this watercolour reconstruction was completed by Piet de Jong.
    Visit and admire the original "Orpheus Fresco" at the Archaeological Museum of Chora (Greece).

      Then go for it, Fr Lo! The ancient lyre can become an awe-inspiring musical instrument in the hands of a virtuoso, using all the harmonics, hroes, muting chords, and so much more. Thanks to your musical background with the guitar, it will be pretty straightforward for you to start playing the lyre!

    I just love this vein of music.
    It reminds me strongly of the Solearis Flamenco.
    I wonder if the flamenco we knew circa the 60s stemmed from ancient Greek music.
    I was schooled to think it was of Arab influence but it could actually have been Greek.
    You were a guitarist so might know?
    Thank you for the music.

    • @SEIKILO

      Thanks for listening, Peter! Since ancient times, all Mediterranean civilizations have heavily influenced each other. In that sense, ancient Greek music was definitely influenced by Greece's neighbors before influencing Arab music, as well. So, yes, you can find roots of flamenco music in ancient Greece and most ancient Mediterranean civilizations.

    OMG, I have no words to express the beauty of this music and your playing... Do you think is it possible to play this kind of music with other lyre as celtic lyre? Thank you for the sharing.

    • @SEIKILO
      @SEIKILO  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, you can, as far as you have 7 strings at least! What's more, some instruments are more well-built with the musician in mind, and some others are poorly built with mass production as a priority. The first are way easier to handle, learn new advanced techniques, and play impressive music in a relatively short time, while the latter (the mass-produced instruments) usually take much more time to master and find out if they are indeed capable of producing great music. Sometimes, you spend so much time learning an instrument, and then you find out that your talent greatly exceeds the instrument's real capabilities.
      This is why we encourage our viewers to choose a proper and premium musical instrument by a real luthier who is building instruments with the musician in mind, such as the LUTHIEROS family in Greece: luthieros.com/

      @@SEIKILO Thank you for the quick answer. I am looking at the lyres offered on the site and i wonder if is there a big difference between 7 and 9 strings in terms of playability?

    • @SEIKILO
      @SEIKILO  10 месяцев назад +1

      @@christophequenel7270 A 9strings lyre will give the option to play a full octave without the need for advanced lyre playing techniques (such as harmonics). In that sense, yes, it makes sense to go with a 9string lyre instead of a 7string lyre!
