  • Replacing a cooktop insert is pretty straight forward until you have to cut the counter to get the insert to fit...

Great video man! I had to start putting a clause in my estimate for appliance installations just for this reason. There’s an extra fee if I have to augment the countertop or the cabinets.

Yes sir big D. Reasons/jobs like this are the number one reason I usually will not give an estimate sight unseen. Too many variables even on simple jobs.

It is so important to wear a proper respirator mask when cutting quartz and stone--so important.

Please do not use any thread sealant on flare fittings and make sure the flare surfaces themselves are free of any contaminants. Flare fittings are designed to be assembled dry and any sealant can cause leaks.

That feeling when you drop in the new cook top after measuring 15 times, cutting the countertop and cleaning up. F*ck yea

I find myself in this situation trying to install a new cooktop, except I need to increase the length, which will involve cutting 1/2 inch of granite on both sides. I also will have to remove about 4 inches or so of cabinet siding to accomodate the new cooktop. Trying to decide if I want to tackle this or just hire someone for the install. Installs in my area run $350.00 and cutting countertops/cabinets is extra. That is quite a bit of money. Anyway, decision time.

350 is cheap friend. Based on what you've said, I'd charge $950 just because of the granite cutting.

Great videos ! You motivated me to start a handyman business.
Do you know if you need a license to clean a commercial ice machine?

it would depend on your state. But just to clean... unless you're in CA I think you'll be good in most states.
