Very helpful and helped me replace my cooktop. 🙏. I wanted to say 2 things: try and take out the previous top and measure the cutout before ordering the new one. Mine was granite and you cannot modify the cutout easily. I had to get a diamond file and grind out some nubs. Also replace the flexible gas coonector and other hardware with new hardware so that there are no gas leaks.
We are honored to read this, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Much appreciated!

Great instructional video! Thank you Michael, installing our new cooktop was a breeze with your help! I only wish I had taken it out to measure before purchasing the new cooktop since I had to have the countertop cut and extra 1/4 inch to fit the new one.
What are the exact cut out dimensions needed for this. I’m getting new granite and the fabricator needs to know
Hey Michael ... what brand cooktop is it ???

Thanks for the upload. By the way how does the control knobs feel (quality wise) and how are they holding up ? Thanks
Thanks for watching, they have held up as hoped. 😎👍
Hi. I am trying to install our new cooktop but while it fits the space when the regulator is unattached, once I attach the regulator it does not fit.
Can I install the regulator just after the cooktop shut off valve and will it still work safely and effectively? It couldn't be more than 5-6 feet additional distance for the gas to travel through the flex hose.
Thanks for watching & that shouldn’t be a problem depending on your local codes. The most important thing is to ensure there’s never a gas leak while cooktop is on or off. Keep us posted.

@@HeadingForTomorrow
Thanks for watching & you will need to purchase a more compact compatible regulator.
You will be able to choose a regulator that will have a 90° angle turned to it which alleviates it from making contact with any rear portion of the inner drawer for wall/frame.
Some of our viewers have mentioned that they carefully cut away rear portions of inner frame to make clearance for the regulator.
We strongly recommend using the sealant shown to ensure you have no gas leaks after install.
Is it recommended to add some caulking around the stove top?
Thanks for watching & sharing your thoughts. Us fellow DIY’ers need to stick together! Hope all is well.

I have one installed and I checked the level but when water is in the tray below. It's not level I don't believe this is an issue but other people disagree. Do you think this is a problem
Shawn The Great
Thanks for watching & it is one of those “depends on who you ask” type situations. We always recommend having your cooktop level for operational considerations... meaning... they are not engineered and designed to be installed in a slanted position. Hope the video helped.

Hello micheal.. I just wanna ask some of your insight.. 2 days ago I accidentally spilled the jelly with coconut milk on out stove top i already clean the outside but now I can smell the sour smell which I think coming from the inside of the stove and I don't know how to open it.. anyway to handle this...
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Is your unit the exact same as this? If yes, you will need to carefully complete some friendly steps which include unplugging unit, close gas valve, remove gas line from regulator & remove cooktop from countertop cutout.
At this point, you will need to remove all screws that are securing lower aluminum base/cover to gain access to inside.
Some people will wait a few days & allow it to evaporate prior to taking everything apart.
No need to take it apart if you don’t need to. Keep us posted.

*I have an electric stove....under the counter top is a pvc pipe going into the floor with some foil covering it...I tried to look into the pipe and I see little sand there...not sure what it is for....I want to convert the electric...how do I go about this? Any tips?*

Glad to help & we appreciate you reaching out to us. You will need to have a gas line professionally installed if you want to convert from electric to gas.

Thanks for watching, welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. If you are referring to the electrical power cord, this is what provides electrical power to the igniters.

How did you connect the gas line to the regulator? Gas line is very rigid and does not twist.

How does the top drawer clear the gas connections from the cook top in order to close the drawer? Notched out correct?
Gelatinous Orbz
Thanks for watching. Glad to help. It’s possible that your Cooktop is compatible with a more compact regulator. If not, you may need to trim drawer in the event that it doesn’t clear connection. We have seen people in the past trim the rear portion of their drawer...& then install a $5.00 piece of wood to back of drawer to act as it’s back guard panel...not allowing anything to fall out. Keep us posted.

What do you do if it's not level?
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Is countertop level or is the cooktop unit getting caught up on something such as an edge or a corner piece not allowing it to fully seat in place?
what kind of regulator is that?
Good morning, just poured a cup of coffee and am sitting down to answer any and all questions for the DIY community.
We appreciate you reaching out to us, this is a standard cooktop gas regulator valve. When purchasing a new regulator, you will want to ensure that it’s compatible with your current cooktop because if it’s not, it can lead to a gas leak…which is never good.

How did you secure the cooktop to the counter, The clip are useless when you have a 30 inch base cabinet,
Good video.
Grock98TG
Thanks for watching & you are very welcome! Believe it or not, we have talked to many people that decided not to use the securing clips. They just rest the cooktop onto the countertop insert and the weight of the cooktop compresses the rubber gasket. The weight of the cooktop and rubber gasket helps the cooktop remain stationary and tough to move.
Definitely keep us posted on your DIY project & any questions you may have.

Thank you for the great tutorial Michael! We just had this stove top installed two months ago but the problem we're having is the knobs keep breaking at the black stem on the knob itself. Have you heard of this happening? We've contacted Frigidaire, which is now owned by Electrolux and they are sending 5 new knobs but if they are the same kind, they will still break. Very frustrated. Are there any other better knobs that would fit this stove? Thanks for any advice.

You are obviously misusing the cooktop, knobs don’t just break that easily unless being abused.
@@w.miller7282 We are not misusing the cooktop, the knobs are cheaply made. And forget about getting help from the company.

So your top drawer had enough room with the regulator installed? We ran into a problem where the regulator made the drawer unusable and the side of the cabinet that is next to cooktop was also in the way. Installer put the regulator on the other end of the yellow gas line so that it was closer to the floor where there wasn't anything obstructing the regulator. Is this an okay solution?
Boston1rish
Thanks for watching & sharing your experience. We haven’t seen it done that way however as long as technician installed it properly to meet proper code, you should be good to go.
