    Off topic, but there's a Hawk T1 out for MS Flight Sim, wondered if you were thinking of taking a look at it? Would be cool to know how close you find the flight model to the real thing

  • @jacka1951
    @jacka1951 3 года назад +3

    Hey Tim, can you explain why you would conduct the turns prior to intercept?

    • @FastJetPerformance
      @FastJetPerformance  3 года назад

      It's to generate lateral separation for the final 180 degree turn - some militaries just nose point to 20 miles and then take separation at 20 nm but the RAF ensure that they just fly to a collision point at 30 nm an then go reciprocal at 20 nm to stabilise for the 10 nm final turn.

    @FastJetPerformance how can i get the kneeboard ? With the diagram of the intercept ?

    • @FastJetPerformance
      @FastJetPerformance  9 месяцев назад +1

      It's in the school, just join us and you'll get all of the kneeboards.
      This is Phase 4 Fast Jet flying training as taught by me over 10 years in the RAF so it's taught by me to students so that they do it correctly. That said, Google 'intercepts' or similar and you'll get someone else who can explain it to you, I just don't give out my courseware without me teaching it else it's flown incorrectly and my school unfairly gets a poor reputation. Hope you understand.

    • @FastJetPerformance
      @FastJetPerformance  4 месяца назад +1

      If you get a Thrustmaster T. 16000M the rudders are in the twist of the joystick but some people just use the keyboard for the rudders. The joystick I mention has a throttle on it too, come join.

    All seriousness... if you had the chance to go back and tell yourself at the height of your RAF career that you'd be training desk jockeys how to virtually fly in 2021. How would you have responded?

    • @FastJetPerformance
      @FastJetPerformance  3 года назад +11

      I had a RUclips channel at the time and was making videos back then anyway - I also run men's groups so I've always been involved in helping people do things. I used to teach in the Hawk T2 sim as well as in the air, all instructors do, so it's no real difference. For me, I could be stuck on Anglesey teaching in the Hawk T2 sim, living apart from my wife, or teaching at home in the virtual world - it's much better this way.
      Also, there are many real pilots who I teach in Shadowlands, RAF students are here, too - although I take more care with them - and many non-pilots I fly with are very, very good when they've completed some training. Thanks for the Q 👍

    Hey there can you recommend a good plane that I can train on in dcs as the su25 isn't what I was looking for, I have been thinking about the f14, f18, j17 and the f16

    • @FastJetPerformance
      @FastJetPerformance  3 года назад +1

      The F/A-18C and F-5E are what I teach on but the F-16C is becoming more mature now so I would recommend that too. Stay clear of Harrier if you are starting out - I'd buy the F/A-18C when they have the next sale. If you want to jump into the Experientia level for training, I'll get you started on it, personally and you'll have a very safe server to learn on with some great pilots who will also help you out.

    • @calvinmulraine736
      @calvinmulraine736 3 года назад +1

      F\A-18 is good for people new to DCS. Its easy to fly, can do everything that any other aircraft in DCS can do and it has the most features of all the aircraft. F-14 is a great module but demanding and the F-16 is not yet up there with the 18 just yet. I have no opinion on the JF-17

    • @ianboys1000

      Maybe consider the FC3 package. Several planes, cheap and simpler to start with. And the Su27 is such a beauty.

    DCS players, if Mr. Davies is talking way over your head, start here: ruclips.net/video/sCmhyhO24yc/видео.html
    I promise you, at some point you will put it all together. If you were in combat, you would definitely want to be moving this fast. Thank you sir. (I'm not a pilot and marvel at Mr. Davies' videos all the time.) Do you have a video on non-cooperative targets and are you still instructing a course?
