Guys, an insight from a USN instructor friend of mine teaching on T45. Great video buddy!!only thing I’d debrief is we don’t fly a centered ball all the way to touchdown…we move it up to about 2 balls high and then bring it down to a “crester” in close.(half a ball above a centre ball) A centre ball will inevitably fall low as you cross the deck and lead to a POWER call from paddles and a 1 or 2 wire…(ground effect coming over the round out). Unlike an ILS that is fixed to the ground the glide slope is constantly moving forward underneath you, so it doesn’t work to fly the centre ball in real world conditions. If a student tries to fly a centre ball the whole way in on a T-45 we will DQ him as it’s unsafe… Biggest thing to remember is that a ball above the datums, with your jet on speed (important as it “sets” the hook at the correct angle to trap) will lead to a trap (if you don’t hook skip bolter) and a 4 wire is still a trap!! A 1 or 2 wire will get you a talking to from Paddles…😉
Wow. This is great info. Makes all sense. Plus, I noticed that you must always compensate to the right, due to the runway always moving. But this trick to keep two balls high is great. Thanks for sharing.
I thought, huh... this guy has put some serious hours into DCS... almost sounds professional. Then I read the description..! Truly "quality content", thank you.
"attended the RAF ... it's an accomplishment nevertheless in some circles" 🤣 gotta love Tom Cruise, deserves an invite to Shadowlands 🛩 Thanks for the instructive vid, helps a lot.
Legendary performance from a true legend. Is it daft that I was pretending to dogfight BF109s in my Robin HR200 the other day around Woodbridge, pulling mighty steep 45 degree turns including a couple of wait for it... 60 degree turns, feeling that G onset, BOOOM 2Gs Fam.
Thanks Tim, great case 1 demonstration .."Fighter pilots keep the maths simple so should you ".. hoping you'll show us something using the F16 at some point, cheers
Lovely approach there Tim. Centered FOLS and Yellow Donut all the way in. There is that annoying message from the LSO about invalid pass with some step skipped. I haven't worked that out, if you do the checklist (even tension the restraints) it still moans. If I ever figure it out I'll let you know. I think you'll find in US Navy service that is a COW-117 Mod 2 "Tactical Bovine, Holstein" and the back of it is used to relay Federal Government mandates.
@@FastJetPerformance drinking game, try aar in the tomcat and every time you swear, drink! I was semi okish in the cat but iv been off for months. To my utter astonishment i got straight on the tanker 1st go and filled up from 8k lb which takes forever lol, i was expecting to be all over the sky!
I showed up for the Tim & Tom action and was not disappointed. Tom is looking very youthful btw. That's what happens when you have big Hollywood $$$ to pay for face lifts.
Nice landing with one big fail. Groove time needs to be 15-18 seconds. Your groove was 35 seconds because you start your turn to late after ABEAM position (exact moment depends by word of real NAVY Hornet pilot, on actual WOD guess by watching sea state and ship wake length). You would be probably Waved off by LSO with 1.0 point only (not very nice mark on Greenboard), because you spoiled landing timing of all aircrafts behind you.

I landed a microlight on a carrier once in xplane11, but when I throttled down the wind blew it off the back of the boat.
😂😂😂
Great touch down Tim.
Bloomin eck... I'd like to say I understood some of that but it sounded good and I love the humour! Brilliantly entertaining.
You make that sh*t look easy. Love the Tom Cruise bit and, of course the future beef sandwich on the carrier.
That cow is gonna be BBQ food soon!
"Tom Cruise" guy is awesome! Seen him ealier on a youtube deep fake video and you can almost not see the difference between him and the real Cruise.
Great vid Tim as usual mate. Thanks again for the response on Instagram the other day. Keep it up 👍 👍👍
Hit me up if you need anything, Dan!

Recovery back to Earls Colne by any chance?
Great content Tim! Nice to cover 5m marshall stack protocol and nailing the commence time on Case III as I never seem to get it right?
that was fun.. Would love some serious approach and landing in windy and very low clouds using ils. That would be edge of the seat!
Fantastic clip Tim .
I could provide some backing with my 5 string banjo to your landing lyrics ,would definately make number 1 🤣

Hate to break it to you bossman, but the angled flight deck is a BRITISH invention............ You can blame the RN for THAT one!😉

Have you enjoyed a NACES let down yet Tim?
Negative, my aircraft belonged to my Government not mine so I was responsible for bringing them back.
