A couple observations 1) This video was posted 2015 2) If you look the back of this Dell it has a Parallel port (pink color female port) this is where you used to plug the printer which had a parallel port and the serial was for the modem 3) this dell is obsolete, this kind of computers no longer manufactured for a long time. 4) A desk computer has life expectancy of 5 to 6 year of good use, beyond that components are going to go bad, for example capacitors, CMOS battery. You can question the Motherboard same week you purchased, if you question the motherboard after 10 yrs of usage, very doubtful it is the motherboard. It is the wear and tear.
Sorry but you are wrong. The PC market has been stagnant the last decade, and a Core 2 Duo 3ghz is still good enough. The main limit as computers age is memory, but the 780 can use 16 gig. And M.2 PCIe x4 SSD can bypass slow SATA and bring new speed to older hardware.
Dale Mahalko The PC repair business is about gone.. BestBuy, Walmart, Office Depot,Staples, etc used to stock up computer parts like sound cards, video cards.. No longer the case...Not even Radio Shack..
I had the same problem with a optiplex 380 I think. Practically the same system just a different form factor/model#. Solid amber light but no number indicators. I just removed the thermal paste from the cpu and heat sink and reapplied a small amount to the cpu and it did the trick and works. Normal. Also removed the CMOS just to be safe. But it's working now like I mentioned before.
how about a yellow blinking light n the cpu my cpu unit is DEL OPTIPLEX 3010...it won't open it's just the yellow light blinking even the number 1 2 3 4 5 are not fucntioning
No, this is not a motherboard failure this happens when one of the peripherals on the PC does not operate this may include something is not right on the motherboard because then how would it turn on? I learned this from dell support
I had error code 1, 2, which was bad board, but it results that my cpu socket was filled with hard thermal paste ( crusty ), i have cleaned it and sprayed some contact cleaner to the socket and cpu and it now works

Bad connection in memory sockets. Remove the memory modules and reinstall them again. Wear antistatic wrist strap or touch metal case frequently to remove static charge on your body that might damage the modules

@@lukedavis436 I'm going back to the i3-2120, it turns on normally, but if I use the i7-2600k it doesn't work. socket type lga 1155 says it works, but I know I can't just rely on that detail. I just can't find information on the dell e93839 ka0102 board which processors it would read/support

I just can't see which processors are compatible with this card. pls send me the link you found
I got an optiplex 780, 2gb of ram upgraded to 4gb, intel graphics upgraded with a Radeon R7-240 2gb gpu and even with a super low-end processor, the pentium E-5300 2.6ghz i can still play GTA V at 30-35 fps keeping all the settings on low but HD resolution :) it's so easy to work with those PC :)
I have two dell OptiPlex one is a 790 SSF and one a 990 MT both I5 2400 one 8gb ram the other 4gb and the 990 has a Gtx 1050 also have a custom build tho

@Optiplex 780 power supply its a optiplex 990 MT, the solution was to clean the thermal paste that overflowed to the socket.

If the power light is solid yellow, it means the power supply is not working. Replacing it usually fixes this.

@@leocavenaghi9995 i would first check the CPU is compatible, switch back to the i3 and test it, Dells are notoriously picky with CPUs

Yeah. I got a 780 as well for $50 however mine had 4GB of Ram. I upgraded to a GTX 750 Ti and 8GB of Ram. I can run Skyrim on ultra at 60fps.
