Hi Gemma I just found your videos and I’m going back to a year ago when you had your ACL surgery to watch your journey. I just had my ACL surgery on my left knee. I tore it completely by falling doing a lateral split in my kitchen. I am almost 6 weeks postop and it’s been quite an experience. I’m going to physical therapy twice a week plus I’m doing it at home twice a day. I used a walker for several weeks after it first happened because my surgery wasn’t done until a month after the fall. I got rid of the walker and now I’m using a cane. I’m hoping to get rid of that in two weeks. To anyone out there that is reading this that’s had this surgery hang in there think positive thoughts it’s very draining on your psyche but you can pull through. There was a time in the beginning I felt like I was never gonna walk again and I am walking! So keep the faith and charge on 🤩
i’m sitting here watching this because i just had meniscus tear surgery and i feel the same way… nauseous and dizzy… i just stopped taking my pain meds and i’m feeling a lot better! how long did it take you to fully recover?? also your absolutely gorgeous!!
Hi ma'am!! What kind of meniscus tear you had? Is it bucket handle? And how much weight you used to apply on your injured leg while walking after 1 week of your surgery?
I tore my ACL and the other ligaments in september. I’m in for surgery in 3 months, I’m nervous for the first week after surgery! I’m also a physio student so if you have any questions I’m always happy to help
You may be like me and I was anticipating the worst as well, then once I woke up I could lift my leg and even put pressure, full extension the next day. Had almost no pain just stay on top of the meds, such a blessing and I know you got this!!!
Hey, I'm coming up to 6 months recovery and I would say I'm back to 80% normality. Hopfully by 9 months I will fully be recovered. The swelling has taken a long time to get out.
Hi Gemma - so sorry to hear about what happened. Hope you recover quickly but take your time and allow yourself to heal properly. Sending you lots of healing energy 🙏💜
Hi Im so glad I came across your journey ! I am about to have surgery in two weeks and trying to do my research on using autograph vs allograft . How did you choose to do your quadricep? I’m favoring using my own tissue just don’t know which one to go with. Thank you in advance :)
Hey, I am so pleased you have found my video helpful. My surgeon used the hamstring graft. He said usually for professional sports players they would only use the petella tendon. My own tissue is working well so far. Good luck with your surgery!
I’ve noticed everyone got to stay at the hospital for what seems like at least 24 hours. When I woke up I was on my way home within 30 minutes. My nerve block didn’t work very well either so that wore off by the end of the day.
I had a complete grade three tear ACL with a meniscus bucket (three tears on my meniscus) just had my surgery on Thursday. I have been having a lot of pain, esp when trying to get up, go to the bathroom, etc. It's just me during the week, so I have to get up and try to do things for myself
Hey, Oh my gosh I remember how painful it was getting up in the night for the toilet during those first few weeks. It felt soooo painful. The pain subsides eventually. Hang in there! I know it's tough 😪 you've got this 👏 👍🏼
@Gemma Linaker thanks Gemma because I am sitting up here getting all emotional and teary. I am grateful to God for what I can do; cuz seriously, getting to the bathroom was one of my big worries. The other things like eating and putting this CPM machine in place or get ice packs when no one is home to help at times just got me really moody. I appreciate your encouraging words
@@rozforthecoz5615 I can imagine. It is very difficult to go through this recovery on your own so you should be proud of yourself for fighting on through. It will all he worth it in the end. Hang in there buddy 🙏🏼
Hey, so I'm at 6 months post op. I can't say it's back to how it originally was but I'm giving it a full year of recovery to hopefully get it back to full range again 🙏🏼
I just had an acl surgery. Watching your video cheered me up. Hope you are all well and recovered
