so when will they turn this into an anime? I mean, they have the one covering Valkyria Chronicles 1 and part of 3. but when are we gonna get this one turned into an anime?
No money to be made. Anime ep cost around 72k+ per episode you need to sell 1000+ games not accounting taxes, distributor cuts, purchasing rights to use from sega and recoup the majority marketing and they still need to make a profit. Look at tell tales studio.
I'm hoping for an anime myself. I like how they kinda bend and expand the story like how alica and salvaria were actually test subjects in a lab. Sure it clashes with the game but still it was an interesting idea.

@@RedZ1900 True. I wish there was some more extra moments like welkin and alicia in vc1. I would've liked raley more if she had cut claude some slack at first. I'm glad that they ended up with each other, but i really had a hard time excepting as couples.
Uhh yeah I'm not replaying the last mission just to get a brief extra scene of the original ending. They didn't even show the kiss. They could have given us a breakdown of what the main members of squad E did after the war ended, like in VC 1. Instead they just expand the character bios at headquarters. Overall it was an okay game. There were a lot of cool gameplay mechanics that improved the combat and strategy aspects from the previous games. The squad stories were also very interesting, and gave the other characters from squad E a lot of personality. The story, the main characters and the bosses on the other hand, were worse than other games in the series. They could have added a couple of more badass imperial bosses for example, but instead you have to fight Vulcan and the two psycho girls a bunch of times, which becomes kind of boring/tedious after a while. There was some wasted potential here. I'll be waiting for VC 5 in the future, and hopefully a western release of VC 3. Sega will never give this last one to us though :(
A whole lot of work just to see an additional 4 minutes of a cutscene. -_-. After puting in the hours and maxing out the characters and did every mission but "hard" mode on the last mission. I think I am done nah lol
Gyel Vu Probably still in recovery and needing physical therapy. Because if she was paralyzed, she wouldn't be able to stand on her own in the slightest, right?
Because she can barely stand? lol She's probably to weak to even walk with crutches and they're not just gonna have people carrying her around all day. Hence the wheelchair.
This is just the normal ending but with an extension to the final scene... Why didn't they just keep it like this the first time you finish the game? I know some scenes and one interlude only unlock in post game, but outside of the interlude, the other scenes should have just been there without having to do post game to get them.
This! I never understood why the Dev's did this. First time I unlocked this ending as well as the locked scenes, I was left asking myself, "so why exactly did the Dev's lock these scenes away"? It's not like the scenes changed the story in a drastic way.
I would have had it that in the normal ending, claude and Riley + the hafen go down with the ship and sink. But the true ending the "miracle" happened and they lived. That would have been better imo.
@@erdenburger4888 I believe he's inferring that in the new hypothetical standard ending it doesn't show them fleeing the Centurion and leading the player to believe they perished, while in the true ending it shows them escaping as well as Claude and Riley's (+Squad E) meeting in front of the newly rebuilt Miller Company factor.
@@Hyrule409 Still incorrect, they escaped the ship in both endings, but the only differences is that Riley shows up at the end of the true ending. I saw both of them.
Its kinda dumb how he almost gave up on that ship. like ffs. you are Claude. you have gone through shit and never gave up nad now you will when you can literally get out of the tank and jump over the railing? lel they are like 10 metres above the ground
Man this ending was terrible. It's like the dev's rushed it. Like, why is Claude running to Riley as if he was told that she wasn't going to make it?(The game never conveys this). I wished this game had a sequence to explain what the main characters did after the war instead of reading their bio's in the glossary.
Nicholas Evans Maybe the "not being told she was going to make it" thing happened offscreen? Maybe Claude thought Riley would never get out of a hospital?
Seemed more to me that Claude just wasn't expecting Riley to be there in person, perhaps excepting her to still be recovering in a hospital or whatever.
He could have had the same reaction from knowing she was alive but just not seeing her since the final battle where she got injured. I don't see why running up to hug her in that case would be unreasonable.
Getting shot and lying down in a giant valkyrian fire would probably have a thing to do with the wheelchair. In the final mission you escort Riley to the ship so she can save Angie
This was underwhelming. Their romance as childhood friends was never believable. Raz and Leena on the other hand... Would have been well earned if he actually survived Chapter 16. That would have been a perfect ending
After beating the game, you have to go to headquarters. There, the infirmary allows you to purchase post-game extras, including a new interlude. Watch all those scenes, then a new set will unlock in chapter 13 part 2. After viewing those, you will have a chance to unlock the true ending.
You have to replay the final battle. When you select the last combat mission, the game will ask you what difficulty you'd like to play it on. Select hard mode, and after beating it, you'll receive the true ending.
Pretty glad I just looked it up here instead of grinding through the game to win the hard mode. That additional scnee is not worth it if you didn´t play to beat the game on hard anyway.
Yes, everyone can be resurrected in the post game when you go back to HQ using DCT (money) in the Cenotaph. Though if you want to resurrect Raz you need to complete the hard skirmish Beneath the frost i think it was called. You can also resurrect Christel, Minervas right hand girl.
I only wish we could swap Raz for Claude. Even welkin ghunter was a best leader. Claude looks like a secondary character on his own game. Raz deserves to be the main.
So the hidden "true ending" was less than two minutes that was a bit of romance but ended right before the kiss? Was the kiss somehow offensive? More than all the violence of the war up to that point?
I am I the only one around here who thinks that Belgar is the only main antagonist so far that had at least a slight chance of being alive. Max, Baldren, and Dahau were blown up in character's face, while Belgar was killed on the side. Probably nothing but he seems evil enough to survive if Sega wanted to bring any foe back in dlc/vc5
Depends on whether you like Strategy RPGs or not and if you like anime tropes. Overall I'd say the game is exceptionally made and for me it was one of the best games 2018 had to offer. So to me it was well worth it, but it obviously depends on you. You can always just download the demo version (at least on consoles, don't know if there's one for PC) and try it out yourself.
For the sake of brevety, Valkyria chronicles will be named VC. Long post so TLDR: If you like anime tropes, and dont mind floaty plots, play all of them. If you don't, play VC1 and VC4. For the sake of brevety Valkyria chronicles will be named VC VC1 - perfection. Just the right amount of anime tropes, decent storyline and Character development(rosie a best). Gameplay was fantastic if you dont factor in orders (POWERSCOUT). VC2 - Also know as Anime rises. Story is all over the place, VC1 characters have presumably vanished, completely ignoring character bios from VC1(VC1 Protag teaches you orders). Gameplay still solid. VC3 - Also know as 'VC2 SOLD BADLY SO WE NOT GIVE THIS ONE TO EUROPOORS AND AMERIFATS'. Got translations so we ended up kinda getting it. Anime tropes out the wazoo, gameplay is still pretty good but orders have been nerfed to oblivion. VC4 - VC1's little brother, who has some really good ideas, but isn't very keen is storytelling. Anime tropes have been reduced but are slightlier more prevalent than VC1's. Gameplay has been improved considerably (orders still make everything a cakewalk if you abuse them, but at least there are no more POWERSCOUT) from previous titles. Some missions (Klaus looking at you mah man) can be cheesed, Some are just hell (The valkyria battle in this one is fukken awesome but jesus christ, mercy pls), but overall difficulty is just right. As for the plot... Well it has a few holes.
Nukes also went off in Japan not in Europe but a lot of things are changed in this universe. They're only loosely inspired events, not one-to-one retellings.
Theirs a part where you raz voulentears for a sucide mission no time to extract him and who ever you send with him they both die destroying a generator thats powering a eletrical net thats stopping the ship entering the empires capital their was no time to extract them due to a back up generator

you get renown points based on your rankings on the missions when you beat the game. You be able to purchase post games extras with those renown points. The one you want to unlock is the interlude: steamy ceasefire. After you do that, it'll unlock an additional sub episode in chapter 13. after viewing that, hard mode will unlock for the final battle and your going to have to do that in order to get the extended ending.
Story of this game cannot compared even to a little bit of first game, so disappointing, unsatisfying ending, and this "True Ending" is even more disappointing, why cant they wrap up story with great song, great epilogue, great set up and payoff like Isara's plane come into rescue at the end. And when I know that they have to let player play the last stage again for shitty "True Ending" like this make this game so much more frustrating.
and now I watched the new interlude acquire post-game, the story get even more frustrating. It make the team sympathize with imp and befriend with them. But at the end they still want to detonate nuke at imp capital that may kill a whole lot of soldier and citizen, and they get so angry about seize fire truce that was broadcasted and it make them unable to detonate the nuke aka little girl that they befriend with? wtf with this shit? how fucked up the story and character mind can it be?
To be honest, I'm happy to know this game gets a happy ending. Though one question, is the winter witch and that one dude alive? Don't worry, im fine with spoilers.
yeah, they are. And klauz is considered the most dangerous man alive because of his skills and his valkirya GF. Lets face it, he's only the most dangerous man because mah boy raz ascended to godhood with zaiga as his first follower.
@@Loispealz34 Rosie from the first game was more dangerous... because in my game she had the secret weapon from the DLC and perfect accuracy. Imagine if you will a stormtrooper with a weapon that shoots armour piercing bullets at the rate of an assault rifle with the accuracy of a scout rifle. Now imagine this with boosted accuracy and all kinds of Orders. PINPOINT accuracy into the head of enemies from miles away several times per turn with about 20 headshots per attack. Also worked to blow up tank radiators.
A bit annoying that you have to replay stuff to get this ending. Son of a bitch. The 2 final missions with the winter witch where so enraging that I couldnt enjoy the rest of the game.

I want Valkyria Chronicles 5 with the Imperial Alliance's side with a badass Imperial Platoon. ps: Didn't Christel die as a Platoon F member instead Platoon E? The Platoon F only merge into E after it got destroyed.
Christel died during the Operation Northern Cross retreat along with the rest of Squad F, correct. I believe they let her come back in since she's the only other member of Squad F who was an actual fleshed-out character and not just some random faceless G.I grunt who didn't make it.
So many typical anime weebs here wanting a character's sacrifice and the subsequent emotion from that nullified by resurrecting the character. Not everything should be tidied up neatly.
You only resurrect them for gameplay purposes. They're dead-dead in the story. Well, Raz is the only one who's canon dead. The other character is your choice so it's in the air but it could be assumed by the additional dialogue if you pick Zaiga that he's most likely the other canon-dead squaddie in Sega's eyes.
Well, kind of letdown after VC3 storywise... okay, not storywise - romance-wise ) in VC3 you actually got to decide between two really different and cute girls (and damn what a hard decision that was!) , i don't see any reason why the devs shouldn't let player in VC4 do the same thing (Riley\Minerva\Leena) . Good thing Waltz and Crymaria survived tho (maybe i'm wrong, but they're first imperials in whole VC series ever who survived ) Also, VC3 had really boring missions and even more boring re-fights with every boss in the game, Really annoying when you beat the bastard like thrice and he STILL DON'T DIE WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU DID YOU GET BITTEN BY ARTHAS B*TCH?!
@@RYHo-ni4my It wasn't Japan, it was some other country she (Asura) belonged to that resembled an asian like culture. And her country, whatever is doesn't have beef with the Atlantic Federation, but with a country called the United States of Vinland. They made the Centurion.
In my opinion Kurt Irving in VC3 is the best mc, welkin is second, claude is 3rd, avan is 4th, and in valkyria azure revolution? I didn't even play that game.
Ugh. Why do MCs always have to go for the most boring girl? I know that Leena (best girl) loved Raz but I'd have preferred it if she and Claude had ended up together and lived together with Angie. And if she had been able to get over her grudge against Claude then even Minerva would've been a 100 times better than Riley. Just imagine Minerva taking the rivalry to bed and trying to get the better of him there too. Riley is just...boring. Cute, but boring.
The problem with riley is that we never see her relationship with claude 'improving'. She goes from 'I HAET U CLUD', to 'ok you're not so bad, and i somehow suddenly like you' to 'just give me your damn babies already (and angie while you are at it)'. There is no leftover resentment, no character development, no actual romance subplot (instead the game focuses on leena's romance with Raz, and we know how that ends). And unlike the first game there are no character subarcs for the main characters, only for the rest of the squad (i don't mind those, they are really cool, and they do endear you to the squadmembers (the price of skill is particularly awesome)). So in the end i didn't care much for her and for claude. I wanted to see what leena was going to do, i wanted to see angie be happy, i wanted to see the squadmates do their thing, the centurion crew to keep at it, klaus going from manly AF badass to daddy Largo two-point-OH (VEGETABLES). and secretly wished for raz to somehow magically survive and come back in the last mission (not magically, he's invincible, remember).
@@Loispealz34 Do agree it's kind of abrupt. I get the funny feeling that the reason she was so upset with him "betraying" her in the past was because she liked him, which might be why it hit her so hard when he stopped her from trying to save her family. It's kind of like Minerva as well, I think she has a crush on Claude which was why she pays so much attention to him. Personally though, I think VC4's personal relationships are a step down from VC1's. VC1's flow a lot smoother and with less plotholes and are simply more relatable. I still remember Alicia freaking out when people started worshiping her and it creeped her out. Made her look more human than simply being an anime heroine.

@@koriy5915 you mean that time in the snow? where F got ambushed by armor? how is that even remotely Claude's fault? E had to march through, at least, knee-high snow. I mean, it's been like that since the academy. she's been pissed at Claude since Claude was first of his class and Minerva second.
of course it wasn't remotely Claude's fault. From the beginning Minerva was being unfair, but not every character has to act rationally all the time, even Minerva. She had just lost her squad, after all. The part from the academy was just rivalry, not really hate.
@@Anonymous8830 Well there was a mission to attack a base setting up for the invasion of Gallia that Claude did not need to do as they'd miss the rendezvous. Because of that detour, they were too late to get to squad F who were destroyed. It basically IS Claude's fault that her squad died.

Raz also dies, and whoever you choose to go with him on his suicide mission. The guy who uploaded the video chose zaiga
@@HenriqueRJchiki I chose Zaiga too, seemed fitting. He always looked up to Raz and seemed happy to die fighting with him on their final mission.
Why doesn’t it show the Walts and the winter witch (sorry I can’t remember her name) scene?
RIP Zaiga
I found this significantly easier than the original. I think the fact they made tanks only take 1 action instead of 2 made it to easy to overuse tanks
But tank have limited ammo now, and enemies got annoying Anti Tank Cannons with interception fire. I think its more balanced in VC4, because in VC1 u very rarely use tank because ... they take 2CP.
so when will they turn this into an anime?
I mean, they have the one covering Valkyria Chronicles 1 and part of 3.
but when are we gonna get this one turned into an anime?
No money to be made. Anime ep cost around 72k+ per episode you need to sell 1000+ games not accounting taxes, distributor cuts, purchasing rights to use from sega and recoup the majority marketing and they still need to make a profit. Look at tell tales studio.
Vc4 < naruto one piece etc
But they prob realized after vc1 and vc3 ova sales...
I'm hoping for an anime myself. I like how they kinda bend and expand the story like how alica and salvaria were actually test subjects in a lab. Sure it clashes with the game but still it was an interesting idea.
@@outlaw0987654321 and how they killed off pretty much everyone in the military except for squad 7? oh, and Eleanor Varrot. she also survived.
so the true ending is just that Claude and Riley kiss? thats it
It also unlocks the rest of their personnel page where it tells you that they got married after. I mean I'm sure some people cared about that.
I really loved this game.
Oh....that's it....glad I didn't replay the last mission on hard for that.
I cheesed it with the 2 turns strat. I now feel bad, i actually enjoyed it.
This ending is everything❤️❤️❤️
It’s funny how she hated him👿👿👿....and now she’s in love with him❤️❤️❤️ she was even the one that mentioned ‘romance’ to him. And yes he always liked her, but he was very careful with his words. My kind of love story😍
The romance was written horribly. I didn't feel like they had any chemistry at all throughout the game.
@@RedZ1900 wow I thought they had the strongest chemistry... To each their own.
@@RedZ1900
True. I wish there was some more extra moments like welkin and alicia in vc1.
I would've liked raley more if she had cut claude some slack at first.
He stopped you from saving your father in the fire when you were little? And he's a coward for that?
News flash raley, he's a kid! Two kids doesn't mean jackshit in a burning building! If he didn't stop you, you still wouldn't have been able to save your dad and would've been cooked well done!
But no, slap your childhood friend who saved your life.
Sega will never give this last one to us though :(
another one who choose Zaiga to die with Raz, he really just was the obvious choice tbh
A whole lot of work just to see an additional 4 minutes of a cutscene. -_-. After puting in the hours and maxing out the characters and did every mission but "hard" mode on the last mission. I think I am done nah lol
I see you chose Zaiga as well
That choice should be everyone's.
I also chose Zaiga.
Why does Riley need a wheelchair if she can stand?
Got shot and burned in fire while trying to save someone.
Gyel Vu Probably still in recovery and needing physical therapy. Because if she was paralyzed, she wouldn't be able to stand on her own in the slightest, right?
she couldn't really. She fell last second but Claude caught her in time
Because she can barely stand? lol
She's probably to weak to even walk with crutches and they're not just gonna have people carrying her around all day. Hence the wheelchair.
*THAT'S CUTE*
u make the same choice as mine , im choose zaiga with Raz for the Rush B Non stop mission XD
@@MaximusDerpynes That didn't happen though, they still escaped regardless.
Soooo, game's decent enough to keep me entertained but VC 1 was the bomb in my opinion
Weeks passed and he missed her so much i think...
I think ending is amazing but yes I think it would be improved to include the final contents of their bio. Especially that adorable sounding proposal.
He could have had the same reaction from knowing she was alive but just not seeing her since the final battle where she got injured.
I don't see why running up to hug her in that case would be unreasonable.
what happened to Riley and also how did Angie get out of the reactor
Getting shot and lying down in a giant valkyrian fire would probably have a thing to do with the wheelchair. In the final mission you escort Riley to the ship so she can save Angie
Nekros4442 So she needs physical therapy, right?
This was underwhelming. Their romance as childhood friends was never believable. Raz and Leena on the other hand... Would have been well earned if he actually survived Chapter 16. That would have been a perfect ending
alright,FIRST question: what are the requirments to get this ending?
After beating the game, you have to go to headquarters. There, the infirmary allows you to purchase post-game extras, including a new interlude. Watch all those scenes, then a new set will unlock in chapter 13 part 2. After viewing those, you will have a chance to unlock the true ending.
@@darthsquirt3 Hey man where do I look to find the final scene I've done the interlude and chapter 13 part where do I go next for the choice?
You have to replay the final battle. When you select the last combat mission, the game will ask you what difficulty you'd like to play it on. Select hard mode, and after beating it, you'll receive the true ending.
Pretty glad I just looked it up here instead of grinding through the game to win the hard mode. That additional scnee is not worth it if you didn´t play to beat the game on hard anyway.
@@SangerZonvolt you can just glitch trough it using grenadiers and win in 2 minutes
Can you save those people at the end who died?
Yes, everyone can be resurrected in the post game when you go back to HQ using DCT (money) in the Cenotaph. Though if you want to resurrect Raz you need to complete the hard skirmish Beneath the frost i think it was called. You can also resurrect Christel, Minervas right hand girl.
@@J4ymzz thank Alicia for that!
if you have the two valkyria dlc you can get Chiara, Nikola, SELVARIA and Crymaria on your squad.
What bugs me about this ending is Riley showing up in a wheelchair. Does that mean she's permanently crippled from her injuries?
Not too badly, since she can stand just fine without a crutch.
Uh at 5:09, who is Claude talking about? Aren't both Riley and Angie on the tank?
He's talking about the Centurion. It's the only explanation. Ships are usually called as "she".
I liked the game but not enough to having to replay content for this "extra scene". That being said, I did try quite hard for the swimsuit uniforms...
Is this game and its prequel series worth to play with? I want an honest opinion
Long post so
TLDR: If you like anime tropes, and dont mind floaty plots, play all of them. If you don't, play VC1 and VC4.
For the sake of brevety Valkyria chronicles will be named VC
VC1 - perfection.
Pretty sure that centurion made by britain not the USSR and its tank not afucking battleship
Nukes also went off in Japan not in Europe but a lot of things are changed in this universe. They're only loosely inspired events, not one-to-one retellings.
Bummed out that Rags wasnt there with everyone else at the end. What did he have to do that was so important?

you get renown points based on your rankings on the missions when you beat the game.

Yes. There is a scene of them meeting with Claude after chapter 17th battle and also small scene during true endings credits.
"Happy"... bittersweet. A lot.
yeah, they are.

Good thing Waltz and Crymaria survived tho (maybe i'm wrong, but they're first imperials in whole VC series ever who survived )
Also, VC3 had really boring missions and even more boring re-fights with every boss in the game, Really annoying when you beat the bastard like thrice and he STILL DON'T DIE WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU DID YOU GET BITTEN BY ARTHAS B*TCH?!

I think Riley is BAEst girl and is definitely not boring. She's the smart popular girl a lot of guy geeks would wish for.
@@mgs3re4dmc3 and i like her personality too :)
