What a nice trip you made there. It's a shame about the sky train and I hope the local people who use this service won't get cut off. The scenery from the cars was lovely. Must say that your dinner looked amazing and I personally would go for the spicy option! Look forward to your next adventure - can I come with you please 😊
It was a wonderful trip☺ After the Sky Rail is gone, it looks like electric buses will be running. That may be more convenient for the locals. We live in a world where everything is changing. I am both hopeful and saddened by that. I felt that on this trip. Okonomiyaki is delicious. Wheat dough and noodles are filled with cabbage bean sprouts and other vegetables. Choice of meat such as pork, shrimp, squid, etc... Mixing spicy and sweet sauces is also delicious 😆 There are many okonomiyaki restaurants at Hiroshima Station!
I took the Skyrail for a walk in the sky! Unfortunately, however, this railway is scheduled to be discontinued in April 2024. The reason is that this railroad company is losing 100 million yen (US$680,000) per year. The Railway Company was expecting 5,000 passengers per day. However, the actual number of passengers was 1,300. I am sure the people of this town have many fond memories of this train and the station. Nothing stays the same in this world. The town of Hiroshima has changed a lot......
Does this "skytrain" belong to JR or a private company? The scenery is very nice. It's sad that this line will be discontinued. But fortunately I would be able to ride this "skytrain" before it ends. Never heard of it, thanks for giving me the idea. I heard that some train lines in Japan were saved from being canceled by producing/selling stuffs; or use social media to promote the trains to attract tourists.
This Skytrain is operated by a private company. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Kobe Steel developed this train. Those companies and a real estate company jointly operate the Sky Rail. This area is residential. There are no tourist attractions. Therefore, it is difficult to attract tourists. Although there was the Inca Empire 😆 You are fortunate to be able to ride Skyrail! Riding this train is like taking a walk in the air. I rode it 3 times back to back! This is not a tourist area, so you will enjoy a quiet walk in the sky! Have a nice trip!
