I never realized the paddle end on the mellor before now! I'm beginning my first goldwork project so looking through all your videos to boost my confidence. Cheers, Sarah!
I see many people have already made this comment, but it never hurts to emphasize the point. You are an extremenly good teacher, a talent which is natural and cannot be learnt. Keep teaching us, please. You would be sadly missed if you stopped.
I love wax for sewing. My gran saved the stub end of paraffin candles for wax to strengthen plain thread to sew buttons and hooks-and-eyes. It was years before I found out about the nice beeswax the quilters use. It is really good for making this cord handle well and mould into shape. I love how you use little objects as tools to get your effects.
Thank you! The beeswax is better than the paraffin wax as the latter tends to crumble a bit but very resourceful of your grandmother to use the candle ends!

Enjoyed very much. Would you consider a video on, I think it’s called carpet padding. Thank you
We have some more goldwork padding videos coming London Hodnet so yes we will do one on carpet padding...
Why it is necessary to wax the thread?
To 'stick' the string together to make it smooth and to be able to shape it Sudha!
