Vegeta’s transition from villain to good guy is easily one of the greatest character arcs in all of anime. He went from wanting to destroy Earth to calling it his home, protecting it when it was threatened and working alongside those he once fought against. Even though he’s still prideful and rough around the edges, Vegeta can be a pretty nice guy when he wants to be, as evidenced by some of his good guy moments throughout Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super.
Everything from helping his former enemies while on Namek to fusing with Goku during the Buu saga, Vegeta has had some pretty chill moments, showing that underneath all that scowl and his Saiyan pride, he’s just a big sofie. Jen Ye atleast Goku’s kid actually works on the farm to earn money and food instead of Getting it handed to him.
One thing about Vegeta's self-sacrifice against Buu that doesn't get talked about enough is his conversation with Piccolo before he goes through with it. Vegeta asks Piccolo what will happen to him after he dies, and Piccolo basically tells him that he's going to hell. This makes his sacrifice much more powerful, because he goes into it knowing that he's not going to be redeemed or rewarded. It's a truly selfless act, and it's coming from a guy who casually murdered dozens of people like 15 minutes ago, it's great.

@BlackToothGrin83 Well, the afterlife in Dragonball is weird, Piccolo basically said that Vegeta wouldn't be able to keep his body like Goku did, so beating anyone up is out of the question. This contradicts several scenes in DBZ where we see villains in Hell with their bodies (anime-only I think but I could be wrong), as well as the depiction of Hell in Super where Frieza has his body but is totally immobilized despite all his strength and tortured continuously, which _also_ contradicts the intact villains in Z.
The details are kind of unimportant, though. The point is that the one guy he knows has an inside line on these things told him that he's not going to wipe the slate clean and he's still going to get what's coming to him, and he does it anyway, with a smile on his face. It removes self-interest as a motivating factor which could have cheapened the moment. He's not getting rewarded for his sacrifice.

Everyone is mentioning how they completely forgot the famous “MY BULMA!!” scene, which I agree with I absolutely love that scene, but can we also acknowledge when Goku offered Bulma to old Kai and Vegeta gets furious at Goku, screaming at him for offering his wife like an object. That moment also shows Vegeta’s love for Bulma pretty well
The animators really were at the top of their game during buu saga, the way they draw Vegeta at that time is top tier, just perfect ♥
You forgot to mention "My Bulma" moment from Battle of Gods and DBS. Ever since he sacrificed himself while fighting against Buu, he became my favorite. Truth be told, Vegeta-Sama is the HERO. At least for me.

Vegeta is just the true epitome of a man. He's been through more than most, was train to be a brutal warrior. But as a man, having a woman and children to protect, it becomes bigger than you and you become more complete/rounded. World and Universal conquests become protecting your world.

Confused... always had the direction of gokd and bad family feom the start. A far cry from the life Vegeta was forced into, succumbed to, and successfully made a complete change from. When he was evil, HE WAS EVIL. When he felt remorse for that evil... and was still somewhat evil. Absolutely cried his heart ou to his most bitter rival during his toughest time (I believe that to be his death on Namek), and STILL didn't completely make the turn. Vegeta was all choice. Zuko was a lit of misguided confusion. Most of his story was told from the teenage perspective as well. Had we seen more of his growth, I'd consider him for this argument. Otherwise, no way.

I honestly think the fact that Vegeta's character doesn't change (besides going from evil to not evil) is one of Dragon Ball's greatest strengths. He's a character that never changes similarly to Goku. Something about them both taking incredible paths to power but staying the same "people" they were day 1 is so refreshing and fun.

Vegeta did face krillin during the saiyan saga but krillin fought alongside with gohan,goku,and the fat guy forgot his name so if your talking about 1v1 you are correct they never fought

He was a minor villain (more of a rival, really) during the years of Dragonball and fought with Goku over one of those eponymous orbs. When Goku stole his fish (not realizing the cooked fish belonged to anyone, apparently...), Yajirobe fought him (around the start of the King Piccolo arc) and was able to hold his own against him, surprising Goku greatly...
He continued to be a member of the team, but he rarely, if ever, fought. His final battle, however, was in the Saiyan Saga, while Vegeta was under the effect of the artificial moon, Yajirobe was the one who cut off Great Ape Vegeta's Tail. Once the tail was gone (and Gohan's was back), the tables were turned, with Great Ape Gohan beating on Vegeta until Vegeta cut off the boy's tail.
Once he was crushed by Gohan's Great Ape body, and got his by a spirit bomb, everyone was so badly injured they could barely move.
But if Vegeta had remained in his Great Ape form (Krillin tried and failed to cut off the tail with a kienzan), he would have easily killed them all. Without Yajirobe, none of Dragonball Z would have happened.

Vegeta sacrificing himself to save the lives of other is why I have great respect. He now one of my favorites.

@@datpurplestuff7482 it wasn't cannon, if it was it happened right after Goku returned to the afterlife and taught the kids to fuse. But then buu would've been around and gohan would be with the supreme kai. It never fit into the story well. Especially since after buu, they were both alive.

I don't know why, but the first entry on the list always gets to me. Makes me cry. I know he comes back, but he knows that he is going to hell and still sacrifices himself. He always did everything for himself and he realized that he put his whole family at risk because of a petty thing. They love him and he doesn't really understand why someone could love him after all the horrible things that he has done in life. I know his son considered him a hero, but he wouldn't if he knew the truth about his past. I think after coming back to life and giving another chance at life that he truly realizes what is important in life and DBS kind of shows this which I like. :p

actually vegeta may still want to surpass goku but no longer hates him, no longer wants to kill him or squeeze his insides in to make him squeak. there also might be a chance that when they fused goku and vegeta rubbed off eachother in some way. His relationship with bulma works is because she fights with him not against him and its probably how trunks came to be and the aftermath of ressurection of F lead to Bulla and last vegeta has the heart of a brillo pad.

You forgot "My Bulma!!" and when Bulma didnt know of a way to bring Goku back in the Namek saga and he suggested the realm that connected earth and spirits (granted this was simply because he wanted to be a super saiyan but it was still somewhat helpful and kind nonetheless)
One of the most honest and well made Vegeta credit video
You forgot a couple of important redeeming moments for Vegeta. During the Freeza saga Vegeta saves Krillans and Gohons lives when they face off against Guldo. Vegeta also saves Gohons life again on Namek after Freeza went thru the 4th transformation. Vegeta during the cell saga proves more redeeming qualities by admitting (to himself) that he isn't strong enough to fight cell and incidentally shows up to the tournament hoping that Goku will be enough to defeat Cell. During the tournament Cell kills future Trunks causing Vegeta to attack cell without thinking and while it was pointless (for him to attck) it made the others in dbz realize how much his family means to him. In the end thanks to Vegeta interfering Gohons was able to finish Cell with his final attack. There are many redeeming qualities for Vegeta but they are normally overshadowed by his aggressive personality, thanks for making the video.
Or on namek again helping gohan krillin and goku by killing jeice right before jeice got to step in to assist ginyu

Each of these moments demonstrate why Vegeta is the shows best character.
The growth of Vegeta through the series is the best.
His most chill moment for me off hand, I'd say was either when he super casually took off his coat while blocking Broly's punches (while smiling) or when he flew up and turned Suler Saiyan God(red hair) for the first time on screen. Literally no one in the theater was quiet for that.
This is why I love Vegeta.

I think the biggest turnaround was Bulma’s Birthday prize . The elusive Dragon Balls Vegeta had full access and was perfectly comfortable with allowing someone else to make the wish. I think that is huge character development.

My favorite Vegeta moment is when he went to Trunk’s timeline and served a banquet to the survivors. When people thanked him he said it was his wife’s idea. He became my favorite character in that moment.

Vegeta makes the show worth watching.
He was the breakout star of Dragon Ball imo. He was only in half the story (since he wasn't around when Goku was a kid) but he had immense narrative impact and the most amazing slowburn character development.
