Meet Arin, an undocumented immigrant from Guatemala, now living a good family life in Charleston's migrant community. Arin explains whether he finds the term "illegal immigrant" appropriate, if the US needs better border control, how recent, incoming Central American migrants can be more self-reliant, whether his migrant friends share his support of Donald Trump, and how he and his wife have been received in South Carolina.
My understanding of unauthorized immigration has deepened through our long conversation and my research. It’s a contentious topic. Like most of you, I’m merely an explorer, not an expert.
Offered here-via our authentic interaction-are the experiences and views of one individual, Arin, presented without judgment, true to this channel’s mission. Your thoughtful opinions on the topic are welcome.
For deeper exploration, here are three of the sources I found valuable.

I live in South Carolina and was born here. I know quite a number of foreign migrants that have come to live in this state without papers. Finally, a video like this emerges that shows exactly what these folks tell me in conversations. They are not stupid, they know we need to control the borders and they know that bad people are getting in that they don't want here as well. Also, they pay their taxes, when even some could easily not pay, but they do so because they want to contribute to our country and society. Oh, and they do all support Donald Trump because they think he can solve this issue. Glad to see this fact finally acknowledged in a video. Thanks!

He will be a contribution wherever he goes. He has what it takes to make it. He is already better off than most people anywhere. He is the prototypical American immigrant.

this is real journalism here, much respect. Hopefully people can see the nuance of the border crisis and determine status based on individuals instead of collectives. Both political parties are at fault for this.

The issue with Americans is many can’t critically think past the headlines. Immigrants bad bad bad!!! And select and choice examples of the crappy ones that make it worse for everyone. Immigrants built this nation.

No you are missing the point. It’s nothing personal. This person would easily be able to enter legally . Don’t hate the player hate the game . They are being exploited and abused. It’s also interesting how you forget the part where he says the Mexican people feel disrespected by the migrants. He is as advertised a good person.

I married into a mexican family. I took the time to learn the language out of love for my wife and her family. I wanted to be able to speak to my daughter in both english and spanish. Born and raised here in NC. Color, language male female gay straight IS NOT important to me. Your character is what truly matters. I think people want a better life. I have done day labor in construction with my family. The Good Hardworkkng people that do not break the law and help everyone have my respect. Though, the immigration needs to be limited. Most are GOOD PEOPLE. bienvidos a todos que quieren ayudar Y QUIEREN UNA VIDA BUENA. NO ESTAMOS LOS ENIMIGOS. COMPARTIR SUS IDEAS SUS PENAMIENTOS Y SU VIDA.

This man is an exceptional individual ! It would be wonderful to have every border crosser with this attitude !
At least he works and pays taxes on his way to becoming a citizen !
    I wish him luck !

First of all this guy is speaking from both sides of his mouth. I will say the parts i agree with him and the parts for which he is out of his breath. To be clear he did cross the border illegally, hence his assertion that the border patrol does should take more control is mularkey. secondly he says people should go register i order to enter the country, my guess is he has never been to an embassy before. Now i will agree with him that just like the early settlers no one should be given free money and accommodation just because they crossed the border. you came here by your own free will we expect you to be contributing members of the society with generally good intent.
