I think it depends on the cat. The cats my parents had were like that, but the one I have right now loves to learn and understands things really fast and is pretty invested in the training sessions, eager to do stuff :D Several of my friends are joking that she is secretly a dog :P

For real, i tried when I was little and it was a failure, and now, even though my cat is 10 years old he has learned like 12 tricks sooo fast, it's easier than i thought and it's so fun, i don't understand why everyone I know says it's weird
@@videossatellite5899 sit was very hard for my cat, i started with paw, the first trick is the hardest because they are not used to do what you ask so start with something that your cat can easily do

@@videossatellite5899 @Hyder Kanue first you have to rationate the food, no free feeding, in the type i use there is a label saying the quantities you wanna give depending on the size of your cat. Now your cat has an incentive and will try to work for it. Next just sit with your cat, show them you have food so they stay with you and just take their paw, at first mine was not used at anyone touching it so he took it away, doesn't matter, start just giving food everytime you take it, he'll start feeling more comfortable realising it's not threatening and it means food. Also everytime he does it "right" ( this means everytime the paw is in your hand) make a sound, here they use a clicker but i just click with my mouth, that will show them the exact moment thay did ehat you asked, so they don't have to guess what, of all the things they did is right, also it tells them that there will be food, if you struggle to take it out of your pocket they know that the food they are receiving is because of the thing they did when you clicked. Lastly just put your hand next to their paw and they'll start doing it by themselves. They can learn many tricks if you just do it gradually.

I remember watching these a few years ago, wishing I had a cat to teach these tricks to. Now, I got a cat last year, and i'm ready to teach her some tricks! She's only learned how to sit and lay down so far, but I love the tricks you've supplied us with.

i just wanted to thank you once again for these amazing videos. i've started training with my cat about a month and a half ago and she can follow finger, sit, fist bump and jump in an arm hoop in sequence for just one treat! every time i post a video of her on twitter it blows up! she is not a very cuddly cat so this is has been an enormous bonding experience for us that we hadnt even known was possible. thank you so much!

@@suhaibsheikh6767 When you notice he’s hungry, for example when you grab the food and he’s meowing and begging for it, make him do whatever trick you want and if he does it give him the food. The longer you do it he’ll start realising that doing the trick = getting food

My cat was a grown up when I found him , he is a cat version of introvert human it took him a little while to open up but I am trying my best, at first I thought he is dumb cause he never meowed but I see he is opening up now. Now I feel he is deaf as well , he never listen to me expect when I call him for food .
I don't think he likes me but I love him and I can't stop loving him cause he has no one but me .

@@xTenzin10 do not let them attack your hand, as they get older they will learn thay your hand is a prey, give them any homemade stuff to play, like homemade balls and such

When do you know the cat is ready to learn another trick? Now my cat learnt how to shake paw, I tried to train him another trick with treat, but he wants to shake paw all the time for the treat.
That’s just his brain working, simply don’t reward him for that. what trick are you trying to teach?

@@lightblue4557 don’t reward him for doing the paw shake, only reward when he does the right thing.
But when teaching tricks it’s important to make sure you repeat old tricks they know sometimes so they don’t forget.
Ofc you don’t have to repeat everything but you could’ve guessed that

Choose a trick that is completely different to shake like jump.

My oldest cat taught this to himself after watching me do it *twice*. Seriously. He only does it when there's something in the bowl (even if it's just a single tissue from me blowing my nose), or when I've accidentally left the door open and he feels I'm not paying him the attention he clearly deserves at that moment. He's also learned how to open the fridge a few days ago... He's too damn smart and resourceful :') I've taught him so many tricks and most of them he got down in one or two sessions, sometimes three if it's a more complex one. Is there a cat university as well? :')
