Random trivia: When Ronin Warriors first aired in Japan on April of 1988, it was originally going to be only 19 episodes, and the ending was going to be quite different. When the heroes were absorbed by Talpa, they were considered dead with only their spirits intact, and in an act of defiance, they ultimately destroyed him from within his body, sacrificing their lives to save Shinjuku and sealing away the netherworld for good. Due to the show's popularity however, Episode 19 was instead delayed two weeks for changes to the script, introducing the white armor concept and becoming the Episode 19 we now know, giving the show the green light for a second season with 20 more episodes in 1989.
I can see that. After all, it's not unlike the season 2 ending where Ryo uses the white armor to possess Talpa and nearly sacrifices himself to destroy him.
Traces of this concept can be found in the official manga adaptation published by Kodansha. Along with the heroes actually dying, Jun was not only more likable and less annoying, he actually inherited the Wildfire armor under the reformed Kayura's guidance
It actually happened too. Kodansha published a sequel to the manga adaptation called Shin (Neo) Yoroiden Samurai Troopers. Unfortunately, Jun did not return as the new donor of the Wildfire armor. An all-new cast of five youths led by Ryoga are chosen by Kayura to defeat an evil despot from the far side of the Netherworld far more powerful than Arago/Talpa named Seiten. There were also an entirely new set of Dark Warlords with only the Oni / Cruelty armor making a return. Unfortunately, the first volume never got off the ground enough to make an ongoing series, mostly due to the decline of the god-armor anime trend that started with the cancellation of Saint Seiya in 1989.
@@Awesmic1 I just makes me sad that this series never had much of a chance.
