I hope this medium never dies. It's my favorite of all types of animation. You can stop at one frame and be amazed by every single detail. Knowing that it was handmade makes it extra special.
Its quite clever that they have a few different puppets of each (most*) of the characters, so that differenr group's of staff can go off and shoot different scenes simultaneously
The amount of anxiety that this gives me because of how stressful this must be just makes me appreciate this movie so much especially the fact it took them 7 months to make a 1 and a half minute long scene
No way, somehow I've never heard of this movie until now, and the movie came out on my birthday this year! I'm going to definitely go see this, as I have major respect for artists like these that do stop motion, and to this level of detail is incredible!
I love fantastic Mr.fox and I've seen the behind the scenes on that movie. Stop motion is so cool and Wes Anderson is so creative with it, but dear god it seems like a lot of work. Definitely respect
the attention to detail in all of Wes’ films is truly breathtaking. This style of animation is by far the most impressive and needs to be more appreciated. So much respect for him and the crew
Dazzling. Beauty in the arts can be very simple or very complicated. This is insanely complicated; but when you watch the end result it's actually so fluid and graceful. I enjoyed every one of those hard earned seconds of beauty (and fun).
So much respect for stop motion animation, everything we see on each frame is handmade and they put so much time and energy into each details. I wish more and more people could appreciate that and give them the credit they deserve.
I mean...Making a stop motion can take a LONG time, sculpting each face expressions, making the characters, making the backgrounds, color, etc. I mean CGI can take a lot of time too, but people would rather prefer them, cause I guess it would be easier/good to use and take less time then stop motion
If it's cheap CGI, from bootlegs of popular movies, to well-known companies like Illumination, then yes, it's sad to watch people like that over good stop motion. However, making good CGI requires talent, and yeah, it's art. Like the realistic water animation in The Good Dinosaur and Moana, or the groundbreaking work on Hank the sceptapus. Notice how I use corporate colossals like Disney and Pixar? Mainly because of the easier recognition, but also because it takes time, talent, (and money) to make good CGI. I find it like comparing digital art to traditional art. We all cringe at the sight of a lazy MS Paint doodle, we dislike finding lazy animation; like copy and pasted character models. Both forms of animation take time, effort, and talent, and when done right, can wow the audience, and profit immensely- financially and recognition wise. They also both have their flaws, but I think they reflect upon each other quite well.
I can't believe this movie didn't win an oscar, Into the Spider-Verse was fantastic but the amount of work put into stop motion animation should be more recognized since everything is handcrafted... so sad.
I did some (very very) rough math and figured that (very loosely about) 6 times as much work when into ile of dogs than into the spider-verse man-hour wise. Edit: nono, I was looking at the wrong number. The spider-verse was about 4 times as much work for the animators compared to the work for the file of the dogs.
Taco girl1234 5 it’s NOT a kids movie. It has curse words and gory scenes that include dogs ripping small parts of other dogs apart and very dark themes.
The movie was really really really good. It will remembered for history. The most expensive and hardship to do this movie. Respect to your all hardwork. Thank you for releasing this Film.
Just seeing all the effort needed for this movie and stop-motion in general is giving me anxiety. I'm incredibly grateful the team thought it was worth it, because I loved the final piece.
This is one of the most beautiful works I have seen in years. It's beautiful what the mind if Anderson can conceive and besides, he has close a perfect team to support his ideas.
bolts 1# fan volt no more than any other with villian. Don't know rating but saw no extreme violence nor foul language. I would take a 9 year and mine probably saw worse before I realized. Big question is maturity for story and some of the Japanese is not subtitled
I just finished watching Isle of Dogs today on a whim. I must say, It was truly brilliant! It was totally not what I was expecting & very artistic. I feel the average person will not have an appreciation for the time & effort it took to create the film as a whole...
I want to believe that all those people that worked so mind blowing hard get paid like enough, it’s crazy the numbers of making such details of every character. 👏🏽 👏🏽
Being 63 yr old "kid at heart" - I still and will always have circuits in my heart and imagination, that completely engages with puppets. As much as I enjoy seeing what it takes to make these movies.... It kind of takes the magic and the mystery out of the process. - Bill Murray - is a comic genius. He's the only comedian from SNL that has had a good acting career after SNL... I know there are others..... ( just saying )
It’s so smooth and it makes me amazed each time I watch it because, i always spot new details I never noticed before. They also put so much work and dedication on every single movement and individual hairs. I am truly amazed at what stop motion animators can do!
This is atrociously incredible. Absolutely amazing. And people torrent the movie. Definitely makes me appreciate how small the $5-20 you pay to stream or buy the DVD or whatever.
The sheer amount of effort makes me want to see this movie even more. It's got such an unusual style that I kind of wanted to check it out anyways. Thanks for the video, FilmIsNow.
There's an entire epartment dedicated to just HAIR and ANOTHER department dedicated to just FUR! The amount of work and detail going into films like this is mind blowing!
What I love about this movie is that all this hard work shows and it pays off. This movie is absolutely amazing and I could watch it again and again. If you haven’t seen it and are curious I definitely recommend you go and check it out!
I have so much respect for the work that goes into this kind of animation. I saw the movie the beginning of this month and it was absolutely fantastic. Love every minute of it!
Just saw this movie and really enjoyed it. Now I appreciate it even more. I never stopped to think how every single character (even those unnamed ones in the huge Japanese congress or whatever) had to be individually hand molded
When you watch the movie, u thinking is kinda easy to make animte like that. But after you saw behind the scene. WOW Is hard dude!! I'm respect these film!! So fanstastic!!!
ISLE OF DOGS | "Making of: Puppets" Featurette

@VALERIA KHEGAY The comment was made two years ago. In any case, I don't think I meant it to be for a bad laugh.
I really love stop motion, I hope it doesn’t die out either
It Will never die to much fun
I’m mean you could say that for all forms of animation.
@@kakarot.247 In its only case, it wasn't.
So much effort goes into a 10 second scene. Amazing
First world problems duh
Random Stuff it’s not “duh” if we never knew about it before this video
First world problems Laika released a video with Coraline
First world problems I knew that already because of Frankenweenie, coraline and Nightmare before christmass
Its quite clever that they have a few different puppets of each (most*) of the characters, so that differenr group's of staff can go off and shoot different scenes simultaneously
“I’ve actually painted 22,000 freckles on Tracy alone.”
Tracy-“why’d you do it?”
LMAO
so much respect for you guyz
heres your 1k like
The level of craftsmanship that goes into stop-motion never ceases to amaze me.
Oh my god I would never be able to do that. I loved the movie though!
Ay also i kNow
I wish I would be allowed to work with them.
PaintedBleu no way you thought you could before the video, right?
I wasn’t a fan of the movie, but, I do really appreciate all the effort that went into it!

How was the movie, I hope you loved it. Happy birthday

Respecto. I loved the look of the film and will see it again
hahaha, omg your comment is the best!
297 freckles on each face. What a beautiful way to spend your life, lost in creating quirky perfection.
#WesAnderson
the attention to detail in all of Wes’ films is truly breathtaking. This style of animation is by far the most impressive and needs to be more appreciated. So much respect for him and the crew
Everytime a dog sneezes in this movie i always laugh i just love sneezing dogs
I absolutely adored this movie. The amount of love and effort that went into every single scene is very recognizable.
This movie was underrated

So sad that people prefer cgi over pure art and talent
I think CG is just cheaper and faster, no one really prefers it over the handmade stuff, we just don't have a choice
I mean...Making a stop motion can take a LONG time, sculpting each face expressions, making the characters, making the backgrounds, color, etc. I mean CGI can take a lot of time too, but people would rather prefer them, cause I guess it would be easier/good to use and take less time then stop motion

CGI IS ART
Its truly incredible how many spoilers are in these featurettes avaliable to the public, yet I havent seen anyone notice them.
I don't see any spoilers...
Xander Ward if youve seen the movie its pretty easy to notice multiple spoilers. You just have to look hard enough.
Xander Ward I'm not just talking about this single featurette. Theres multiple that show a few spoilers.
Oh okay, fair enough. And, by the way, ya boi has seen the movie.
Alex Robbins the spoilers are there, but they’re ambiguous enough for people to not to notice them as possible spoilers.
the dog in the thumbnail was ahead of its time with that facemask and everything. He saw 2020 coming.
I love this movie, and learning that so much detail (the freckles!!!) was handmade just makes me appreciate it more.
This movie is so cute and Atari saying “biscuito” is so pure
I can't believe this movie didn't win an oscar, Into the Spider-Verse was fantastic but the amount of work put into stop motion animation should be more recognized since everything is handcrafted... so sad.
Ikr, into the spider verse wasnt even that good, it was made for children, this movie was made for everyone to enjoy..
I did some (very very) rough math and figured that (very loosely about) 6 times as much work when into ile of dogs than into the spider-verse man-hour wise.

With Fantastic Mr. Fox and Isle of Dogs, Wes Anderson is a genius!
