Hey guys! I never expected this video to blow up this huge, it means a lot! If you love this game and wanna see more, I mainly stream BfBB speedruns on Twitch! Come stop by to say hi! twitch.tv/jbhj
The problem wouldn't be fixing it, the problem would be trying to recreate it to even happen to begin with. The devs don't have the source code to BfBB, so it's very much possible that they just don't know how to make this happen. It's a similar issue with cruise boosting. Though it's been a while since I've followed rehydrated, so they could have made big leaps.
@@UsaraDark BfBB community isn't counting on them or even asking for the old glitches to be in the new game. We'd rather it just feel faithful at a casual level with its own quirks to explore and exploit.
There's an area in rock bottom with an explosive tiki and a bunch of shy tikis you can set off to get massive amounts of shiny objects. You can leave the area and enter really quickly. We did this when I was little playing the game as a kid.
I figured out about the sandcastle trick when I first played this game when I was little, trying to get the max amount of shiny objects possible. I spent so much time just messing around in that game. Crazy to think that it was actually a speed running method for a time.
Goodness gracious me. Can't wait to see a full WR history video. Perhaps combining multiple categories together? This one trick is not only game breaking, it's a run killer. How paradoxical.
I was using those sand castle tikis to grind for the theater back In the mid 2000’s. I didn’t use the rocket though. I would just trampoline up there, set off the thunder tikis then jump off and drown myself, rinse and repeat. Still took awhile to unlock the theater though
I wouldn't say that Shift found the bridge shiny spot. That was on cheat code guides as a kid, on how to grind shiny objects. Unless of course he posted it online when he was like 8 years old. He is on the bridge, I used to do that as a kid up top and then bounce into the water to reset. Funny
As I expected, they fixed the Skee Ball grinding in the remaster. The devs knew it was too much of a game abuse to not patch it. So I guess the bridge near the sand castle is now the "official" way to get Shiny Objects quickly.
I was able to pull this trick off twice after watching Shift's 2 tiki 30 setup. The first one was to get 39,500 shiny objects to trade and the second one was to get enough to enter the movie theatre. I had to input the cheat code for the bubble bowl because the save file I loaded didn't have that move unlocked
Also, I'm hiding my constructive criticism in a stacked comment because, 1. I'm just a rando from the RUclipss, so my opinion on something I didn't create isn't that important, and 2. This was really well done. Now, I'm gonna stick around and follow you, whatever direction you take. I just hope that my words would help you, in any way. I would have appreciated delving just a tad bit more into the consistency issues with the setups. I've never done a speedrun of BfBB, so I would have loved to have a bit more detail on that. Secondly, having a more defined narrative would make it more compelling to watch your video all the way to the end. I don't know what that looks like, but there is something to the way Thomas Game Docs and summoningsalt structure their videos to keep people hooked. That's said, I subscribed to summoningsalt before he hit 15,000 subscribers. I've been with Thomas Game Docs since he had less than 40k. You, as well, have the unique marks of personality and style that indicate you have a solid foundation to build upon. While the aforementioned creators' work is grand, it had a starting point. The first two videos on summoningsalt's channel were pretty rough. But, by the time he hit video five, you can see how he began to hit his stride. I am certain you will find yours, and I look forward to being around to witness it.
Also in Sandy’s Dream there’s a giant pack of floating tikis at the very beginning of the level. You can just fall off the edge and the tikis will respawn. You should use the Bubble Bowl to destroy the tikis.
Actually in the carnival world, if you throw a tiki at the giant skee ball point system, then use bubble bowl in the middle with spongebob will reward you with ALOT of shiny collectibles used to trade with Mr Krabs. It was in the newest speed run of 59 or 58 minutes 100% complete speed run(I think it’s 100%) Edit: Oh you already did that.
7:40 I am not a speedrunner, so maybe there is something I am missing, but I don't understand the explaination as to why the leaderboard was split. This trick looks like it would cut out long grinding for the speedrunner, and less grinding + more tricks would be more interesting for the viewer, how would it make things unfun? Was the trick very difficult or inconsistent at the time? I don't know the community so I am probably missing something, sorry if I am. This video is very interesting, ha ha shiny object printer goes brrr
Great question! Any% was split because of two main reasons. In the previous route, only 1 Krabs spatula was collected, since the 7 others were slow. But now that all 8 are viable, that would mean replacing 7 other skillful spatulas from the route with Krabs spatulas, cutting a lot of the run's content. Plus, SBA at the time was very inconsistent and not fully figured out. Over time, more new strats were found that vastly improved the dull SBA route, and SBA itself became consistent and easy. Eventually, Any% No SBA was moved to the category extensions, since it's just regarded as an old Any% route now. For the 100% speedrun though, SBA was never disallowed, since all 8 Krabs spatulas are required to begin with. Runners were more than happy to remove all the grinding from the category.
