While I love this game's open world system, armour upgrading, and excellent combat mechanics, my one major gripe is the lack of boss variety and quantity. Across the entire game, the only boss types I consistently came across were the bloody shield generals, straw hats, and Khoton Khan. After my ass-kicking by the Khan in the tutorial boss fight, I was honestly expecting to come across a wider variety of enemy bosses in preparation for my final showdown with him. But of the dozen or so boss fights I had, I only really needed two styles- Stone Stance against the Straw Hat bosses and Shield Stance for the generals (I think there was at least one sword wielding general among them, but I think I just plain forgot about him). I was really disappointed that I didn't come across any Brute generals or Spear generals. Fighting a more diverse range of bosses would've been a great way of introducing the advantages of each of your styles, while slowly grooming you for your inevitable fight against the Khan, who would force you to combine all four to fight him. While you do end up using all of your stances and weapons against him across the entire "final showdown" they did it in a way that really disappointed me. Let's talk about the Khan first. Considering his unique weapon design, possession of a shield, and a size that is a toss up between the standard Generals and the Brutes, I thought that in this final fight where we were squaring off mano e mano the Khan would switch between the four different forms of his weapon with obvious tells between each (e.g. using the spear end for spear style attacks, the blade end for brute attacks, the shield in one hand for shield blocking and striking while wielding his guan dao simultaneously, before switching to his saber for some old-fashioned sword to sword combat) and use them in randomized patterns, which would force me to switch between my four different stances repeatedly to combat him, which would've been awesome. But he didn't do it, which really bummed my expectations a little. I fucked up big time my first three rounds fighting him because I had my stance set to the Brute Stance the entire time and didn't realize this, meaning I got hit by his unblockables every damn time because my movements were so slow and I kept kicking him. He also has these really long unblockables that fucked me over because the period he used them was delayed and it didn't become orange until the last spin of the attack, which threw off my timing and frustrated me to no end when he spammed it repeatedly and I couldn't hurt him because his entire attack tanks any moves I made. (This was where I really wish the game introduced more spear bosses instead of shield bosses, because I had no idea how to handle something like this on the medium difficulty and it would've been really nice to fight against some spear or halberd bosses, and would've better prepared me for this battle. It didn't help that I absolutely annihilated every single mongol camp I encountered in straight up fights) Though the battle on the boat allowed you to use all four of your stances, it did it in a way where I had to square off against gank squadrons instead of the Khan himself. While this made me laugh because the Khan is too much of a coward to straight up fight me, I was still incredibly salty because the asshole beat me three times in a row in the first round beforehand because I had no idea what kind of unblockables he was going to dish out and how quickly, and didn't have enough time to absorb his patterns. It really broke the immersion for me personally, even though I enjoyed most of the game.
I really like your idea of the Khan mixing up his moves so you have to switch stances to deal with him. Kinda a missed opportunity there. Boss fights should have started as one type then gradually be guys with 2 to 3 of the styles u have to use to beat them, all training you to be the master "stance switcher in the middle of an attack" guy who could take on the Khan at the end. Probably this would have been too much for normies, but a game difficulty could have made this so.
Honestly, I felt it was appropriate that the Khan wasn’t as overwhelming as we might expected it to be. The whole game leading up to the fight tells us the story about how Jin Sakai throws away the way of the Samurai to stand a chance against Khotun Khan, which the khan exploited the honor the samurais had. It shows us how far we’ve come and gives a sense of satisfaction because the Khan is no more than the many war generals we’ve fought, how the ghost of Tsushima brought the Khan down as any other Mongol on the island
Kotal Ka- I mean Khotun Khan is barely even a brute, he’s more of a strategical genius. He pulled an Al-Qaeda move on the Shogun’s Forces and he hid Supply Lines of the coast with propped ones. Also, he managed to pull Ryuzo to the Mongol Forces.

Yes but Khotun khan is a fictional character...the mongols are an entire empire that had the largest continuous land area, so of course they’re going to be remembered. Khotun khan isn’t even real to begin with
@@khldwb1425 He is basically Kublai Khan, they just renamed, otherwise historians would be all in this game telling what's historically accurate and not.
General Zubbis bruh you can hear him say kublai khan is my cousin...he’s a fictional character that’s it. If there’s a ghost of Tsushima 2, kublai would most likely be the antagonist, but no, Khotun khan is the cousin of kublai khan in the game. The collectibles in the game also show that when Khotun invades japan, he plans to overthrow his cousin kublai khan and takeover as the grand khan. Why is the Mongolian Khan using Guan Yu’s halberd?
Idk, man. Even the way they speak is cringy as fuck. I hear some dialogue by actual mongolians here and there but it's like nothing an actual person would say.
This is the era of Kublai Khan, the Yuan Dynasty. The Mongolian army that invaded Japan came from China and Korea.
Because the mongols invaded China and adapted their culture into their own so like chinas old fortresses, weapons, clothing, martial arts, etc. were used by the mongols
Most Mongolian soldiers at that time in Japan were Chinese and Korean.

It was quite satisfying to defeat the main villain in a badass way, so many times you reach the end of a story (game or movie) and think ‘finally, now we get to beat this Sownabitch!’ And then they get taken out by a burning log or something before you finish them. You know, so your conscious is clear...despite the fact we’ve slashed hundreds of goons for the entire game like they were made of cheese.

It didn't help that I absolutely annihilated every single mongol camp I encountered in straight up fights)
Though the battle on the boat allowed you to use all four of your stances, it did it in a way where I had to square off against gank squadrons instead of the Khan himself.
@@dragons_red Thankfully they added better bosses in iki
Honestly, I felt it was appropriate that the Khan wasn’t as overwhelming as we might expected it to be. The whole game leading up to the fight tells us the story about how Jin Sakai throws away the way of the Samurai to stand a chance against Khotun Khan, which the khan exploited the honor the samurais had. It shows us how far we’ve come and gives a sense of satisfaction because the Khan is no more than the many war generals we’ve fought, how the ghost of Tsushima brought the Khan down as any other Mongol on the island
The 1v1 was way harder than the fight in the ship. If you use the kensei armor and throw your ghost items, literally so easy to defeat him.
