Havent seen the movie yet, i hear it suxx, but i need to see it for myself. Someone needs to do remakes or remixes of the songs!! SHOWTIME SYNERGY!! XD
It's Jem in name only. No Jem songs. No synergy(just a small toy) Gender bending of Eric Raymond. No Misfits(only with the credits because of complaints). No Misfits songs. No Starlight Orphanage. No Starlight Records. Character history is completely rewritten( Mother is still alive but can't sing and father is no genius inventor etc). Jerrica and the rest are no independent women but needy teens. Need I go on? Basically it's just a Hannah Montana story with Jem names. They could've left the names out and it still would be a mediocre movie. It seems they would want to make them have a rol in the upcoming Transformer movie.
It's even worse than that. All that you mention, it's just bad adaptation. But it's also badly shot, badly written, the few special effects are incredibly cheap (they used Google Maps for their travel montage and in some scenes, they even left the logo in) and worst of all, a good third of the movie is made up of RUclips videos. Some of these RUclips videos were part of a contest that would allow fans to "appear" in this movie. They just had to film themselves talking about what they loved about the cartoon and they poorly edited it to make it look like they were talking about the character in the film. This push the movie from simply bad to despicable. Now, Michael Bay's Transformers don't look so bad.
@@toydigger lets just hope that someone takes the initiative to do a totally fresh remake. i feel like with the special effects of today it a really cool live action movie that is totally separate from the first attempt could be made, just need to get the idea to the right person :)
okay. I'm here because some studio decided to make Jem and The Holograms into a live action film. Saw the trailer and was totally disappointed. I was looking for the action and the effects that I remember from the show and just had to look for it to make sure that it wasn't my memory that was faulty. This live action is a travesty to the awesome show and sounds of Jem.
When I was a kid in the early 2000s, my family used to rent VHS's from a shop 20 minutes away from our house, and my younger sister got our parents to rent jem and the holograms for her. She would replay this intro over and over again because it was well animated and the theme song was so catchy.
That's a commercial theme, it was included on the Glitter and Gold doll cassettes. There are only two theme songs, this and the "Jem Girls" song used in later episodes.
It already WAS old when you started watching it. Still I'm glad you liked it. I guess 1980s glitz and glamour and hairbands still have universal appear and don't always come off as comically dated to anyone who didn't live through it.
When I use to watch this show on Netflix, I always thought how beautiful, smoothly and lifelike the animation for the intro was. Then on my animation course it was a prime example of rotoscoping. Which is a lot used in the 80’s but it’s one of my favourite ways to animate so this was very inspirational to me.
Man I use to fight with my sisters over the TV, this use to come on the same time as Voltron back in the day..hated Jem back then, but it makes me smile now thinking about my sisters and how life has come a long way. Thank you

-> I can imagine this remaster with updated animation (it would be perfect as a Josei-style anime)! Everything would be untouched (OST, voice-overs, etc.) except the animation. -> If I had the money I would fund it!
The sad thing is, if this series were ever published on Blu-ray, it actually wouldn't look as good as this, because it would almost surely be taken from the same source as the Shout Factory complete boxed set, which are the TV masters. But the earlier Rhino set (which I believe is the source of the video element here) was far superior, because it was taken from the actual original negatives, so the colours are much richer, the lines much sharper, etc. Now, a Blu-ray of the Rhino set would be, well, truly outrageous -- and unsurpassable in quality. But it likely won't ever happen, since Shout apparently now has the rights and, as mentioned above, they're using the TV masters that are one generation removed from the negatives, resulting in the drop in visual quality from what we see here.
Stephanie Mcgarry not completely true. CW has brought back Saturday morning cartoons. Only problem is instead of lasting from 7 to 12 it only lasts from 7 to 10, but I guess it's better than nothing.
I look back and it just feels weird to me now being a young black boy back then and religiously watching this cartoon every saturday morning, I think my stepfather thought i was gay, lol
Best fact about this? This first take was so good, that the team didn’t want to part with Britta so they kept her as the singing voice for Jem after this theme (Samantha Newark was supposed to be both the singing and non-singing voice).
after listening to the three different section tracks, you kind of get a new appreciation for the full thing. (Although I didn't realize how little lyrics Britta had outside of "Jem" and "ooh".)
Jem was really freaking good from what I remember. But I do recall she was in a love triangle between her, her boyfriend and her persona and tiny child me thought it was so messy 😭

I'm so greatful my mom showed me this show as a little girl AwA been my favorite show from child to adult
Everything I needed to know about being a girl, I learned from this queen .
1. Smearing pink eyeshadow over half your face is a total look
2 Don't let anyone, especially the Misfits, steal your spotlight
3. You can be anything you want in life, as long as you're truly truly outrageous!!
Happy birthday to MEEEEE!!!!🎉🎉🎉
and don't forget people naturally have colored hair, This includes Rio who although never sings has purple hair??
i’m watching this while crying i miss this show
I’m 11 right now in 2019 and I grew up watching this show when I was like 3 I love this show man, memories. I used to be so excited when this should would air on tv.
I grew up on this even if I’m young. This was my fav show ever as a kid. Might just go find it and watch it 😂
We love Jem! ❤
this song is so catchy
OMG This cartoon takes me waaaay back to my childhood days pretending to be Jem because we have the same name, hah!! Touching my earring and changing outfits haha!!
+POLE7645 At least Bay succeeded in doing what the originals did. Jem didn't do anything with the franchise.
I hope after all these years you never watched it.
You'll be so sad.
***** I will do so. Thanks!
+Melissa D there's also a really funny skit with people dressed as Jem characters reacting to the horrible movie trailer.
the artists had fun with this show
Man they really used too put a lot of work on there theme songs
You'll never see a show again that put so much work into the Wardrobe ever
Are you kidding? These outfits look horrible.
@@bored_person how many cartoons change clothes bad or not. I guess that's why you're boring
Winx Club
Monster High
Ever After High
@@bored_person it’s the 80s, what do you expect 😂
@@taylord28 I expect modern viewers to recognize how horrible it looks today.
When I was a kid in the early 2000s, my family used to rent VHS's from a shop 20 minutes away from our house, and my younger sister got our parents to rent jem and the holograms for her.
She would replay this intro over and over again because it was well animated and the theme song was so catchy.
That's awesome
That's a commercial theme, it was included on the Glitter and Gold doll cassettes. There are only two theme songs, this and the "Jem Girls" song used in later episodes.
i just listen to "Jem Girls" its not as catchy as this one lol
Jem Girls was okay, but it just wasn't as powerful as this intro.
Edit for typo.
Do they still sell them somewhere?
my mom introduced this to me when I was growing up since she loved the tv show while she was in her teens and now it’s one of my favorites too
*Israel
Reminds me of my childhood...makes me want to cry. Catoons were so good...Jem...Transformers...GI joe...being a kid in the 80s was the best!!!
You are so right.
Don't forget Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, TMNT (1987)
80's was the best time!
Nostalgia Overload💖💖💖
This show was the reason I love 80’s music 💖
I started watching this when I was 12 and now I’m 16. This show will never get old
It already WAS old when you started watching it. Still I'm glad you liked it. I guess 1980s glitz and glamour and hairbands still have universal appear and don't always come off as comically dated to anyone who didn't live through it.
I started watching this when I was 6 or 7, I’m now 36.
I watched this with my mom. Looking back now I probably would LOVe this a lot more now.
You can watch it on *Tubi* for free.
tsntana I know, she has seasons 1-2 on dvd so that’s where we watch them.
PLEASE TELL ME THE TRUUUUUUUUTH!!!
Man I use to fight with my sisters over the TV, this use to come on the same time as Voltron back in the day..hated Jem back then, but it makes me smile now thinking about my sisters and how life has come a long way. Thank you
"Show's over Synergy!"
The star earring illuminates....and (aww man!) she's one of us again.
all these years ive never realized you can hear the count before the song starts
my mom made me watch this when i was little and she thought i would hate it cause it wasn't one of the "new" more entertaining shows but instead i fell in love with it
Jem (Jem is excitement)
Ooh, Jem (Jem is adventure)
Ooh (glamour and glitter, fashion and fame)
Jem (Jem is truly outrageous, truly, truly, truly outrageous)
Whoa, Jem (Jem), the music's contagious (outrageous)
Jem is my name, no one else is the same
Jem is my name
But we're The Misfits
Our songs are better
We are The Misfits, The Misfits
And we're gonna get her
Jem (Jem), the music's contagious (outrageous)
Jem is my name, no one else is the same
Jem is my name (Jem)
This IS music. I have goose bumps and am about to cry. No joke.
I remember watching Jem with my mother every morning from 7 to 7:30 and then I would go to my school that I was new to at the time. Ahh good times. :3
-> I can imagine this remaster with updated animation (it would be perfect as a Josei-style anime)! Everything would be untouched (OST, voice-overs, etc.) except the animation.
-> If I had the money I would fund it!
please! somebody do this!
I am from the 2000 and I love jem
Yeah, the difference in quality between these masters is jaw-dropping. I could barely get used to watching the remaining episodes in inferior quality.
A blu-ray in French version like this would be magical : ruclips.net/video/fTXzieYi66E/видео.html
Me and my mom luv this show. She watched it when she was a kid.💗
Luv this show so much.😍😍😍😍
Omg sugar cereal and Saturday morning cartoons was the life! It's a shame these shows are no longer part of today's kids Saturday morning life lol 😂
Don't feel bad. I'm black and my brother used to watch it too.
I used to watch Jem and Centurions before my elementary school bus picked me up in the mornings; I will never stop saying how much I miss the 80s.
Just gotta ask who let them COOK ?? In all seriousness though this is easily one of the greatest cartoon theme songs of all time
Best fact about this? This first take was so good, that the team didn’t want to part with Britta so they kept her as the singing voice for Jem after this theme (Samantha Newark was supposed to be both the singing and non-singing voice).
The best fact is that Britta was ill recording this and she still killed it.
Miss the 80’s cartoons. Great intro music!!
after listening to the three different section tracks, you kind of get a new appreciation for the full thing. (Although I didn't realize how little lyrics Britta had outside of "Jem" and "ooh".)
Honestly this is so iconic i just cant 😍 My moms friend got me star earrings just like Jem has and I got childhood flashbacks omg
Best opening ever!
Jem was really freaking good from what I remember. But I do recall she was in a love triangle between her, her boyfriend and her persona and tiny child me thought it was so messy 😭
I don't know how many times I've watched this video, it's so addictive. Definitely this opening is truly truly truly outrageous!
Man this show was awesome back in the day.
Coming back to my childhood shows again! :) it’s now 2023. I watch this back in 2014 😻! I actually had the DVDS from the 80’s ahhhh
DVD's didn't exist in the 80's
Such high quality
My God, this brings me all the way back to that 4 year old girl who pretended she was Jem all afternoon in her bedroom. I don't know how many times I sang this song as a kid. :-))
Gotta say, the music videos were bangers. I'm tempted to rewatch sometime.
WOW! Jem and Holograms! amazing
Any other 2000s kids that grew up on this?
Right here Mate.
@@Nightbear460 YAY
This was *the* girliest show I watched as a child, and I’m proud of myself
I am crying. How I loved this cartoon. OMG.
I wasn’t even born in the 90s and this was still my childhood
It was like all I watched in 6th grade
kh critical player this came out in this 80s ;-;
Having it be a part of your childhood when it was popular is a different experience, just saying.
@@qwertyshook4872 - most likely the poster is NOT from The States, as JaTH wasn't anywhere there from 1993-2011. It was rerun by Cartoon Network in 2004-05 everywhere but US and Canada.
This intro is so awesome especially the misfits part "But we're the Misfits our songs are better we are the Misfits the misfits and we're gonna get her! Amazing song
In D7. Best bridge ever.
My mom told me this was one of her favourite shows when she was a kid
12 dislikes!!!! F"""ing outrageous. Truly.
